View Full Details of Heron LodgeWe had such a lovely welcome from the team which instantly gave us confidence that our relative was in such good hands here. The facilities are great but the staff are what makes this such a special place.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Welcoming and residents seemed very happy and content. Lovely and warm and a great atmosphere all around the home. Everywhere nicely decorated finished to a good standard.
In the short time my dad was in the care home, we found everyone very caring and helpful from management to care staff etc. The room was moved around to accommodate his needs. No request was too big, even trying to make meals they wouldn't normally make to ensure he had something he would eat. Everyone did their best to make it feel like his home and as a family we were always welcome whatever time of the day. Not only was Dad offered food and drink, whenever we would visit, someone would also come and offer us something too. If the time came that Dad has to go back into a home, this would be top choice.
The friendly greeting I received when I came to visit told me that this was the place for mum to receive end of life care and nothing since has challenged this view. Everyone (clinical and non-clinical) has been so caring, with nothing being too much trouble. All have taken time to know her as an individual and to personalise their care. Her nursing care has been excellent too and she has enjoyed the food. Her room is lovely. All the staff have also been very extremely kind to her family so we feel very well supported too. I can’t think of a better place for her to be.
The initial tour of Heron Lodge was helpful, informative and reassuring. the staff were very welcoming and went to a great deal of trouble, to settle my frail father into his new surroundings. The care he then received was personalised with close attention to detail. Relatives and visitor were made to feel welcome at all hours. When my father passed away the news was delivered sympathetically. The arrangements proceeded seamlessly with the undertakers. My father was very fortunate to be able to spend his final days at Heron Lodge.
Great care and love shown. Staff are superb! Really happy with service.
Heron Lodge is an excellent care home. All the staff provide such a caring and friendly service - nothing is too much trouble! Would thoroughly recommend.
After viewing several homes, Heron Lodge stood out, why? The cleanliness and freshness was the first thing that I noticed, then on meeting the staff, they are so genuine and friendly and made us feel so at ease and reassured us we were making the right choice. By the way, the homecooked food is so lovely too. No one wants to go in a home but for Mum's respite, we would not hesitate if Mu, needed respite or full-time care in the future.
From our first introduction on 23/12/2022 the staff dealt with us with compassion and professionalism for far above our expectations and my wife found the staff friendly and delightful. I can't praise them enough.
The nurses, care staff, managers, administrator and all other staff were excellent throughout the time my partner lived at Heron Lodge. They dealt wonderfully with the demands of his dementia and palliative care. They were professional, kind and supportive to us both.
My mother has lived at Heron Lodge for three years now. The care she receives is excellent. Staff are so kind and treat her with dignity and with the upmost care. She receives the best nursing care and although she is no longer able to participate in activities with the other residents in the lounge, she has regular staff members checking on her, spending time with her and making sure she has her favourite music playing. The smaller size of the home makes it feel like a family home and relatives are made welcome and kept informed of any changes/updates of care plans etc. The professionalism and dedication shown by the manager and her team (especially during covid) gives us constant reassurance that our loved ones are safe and loved.
Firstly, a note about my mother who died in February 2022. She had been a resident at Heron Lodge for 5 years and was 99 on her death. The whole staff of Heron Lodge looked after her superbly and were very sensitive and helpful at the time of her death. I felt supported and my mother respected and treated with dignity all through this time. My aunt has been at Heron Lodge for nearly 3 years and is still telling me when I visit how much she thinks of the place as a home and how much she 'gets on' with all the staff. She is 97 and chooses to stay mainly in her room but that does not minimise the care and company she receives. In my opinion, the leadership at Heron Lodge is key to this being a very successful and restful place for its residents and the values of the management are shared by the brilliant staff the Home employs. Five years ago, when I found Heron Lodge for my mother and subsequently obtained a place for my aunt, I knew I have found a gem in the care system. Thank you.
It's a lovely nursing home. The staff are always welcoming and take very good care of their relatives. You can see that they really care for their people who they are looking after. My husband was only here for a short time but he settled in very quickly and loved his food. Very good relationship with local practitioner too.
Our Mum spent the last few months of her life at Heron Lodge, receiving palliative and end of life care. From the moment she arrived from hospital, Mum was made to feel welcome and comfortable and all of her family were welcomed too. We were able to visit Mum whenever we could and this gave us extra special times with her. Mum received quality nursing care and the staff were caring and kind. Heron Lodge is extremely well managed and this shows in the skills, teamwork, friendliness and commitment shown by the staff. We were supported during Mum's final few days, especially my sister who visited daily and was kept in the loop at all times. Mum was treated with the dignity she so deserved and we will always be grateful for that. Thank you to everyone at Heron Lodge.
Heron Lodge is a wonderful home. It has a very safe, homely feel and is a lovely place to spend time. My mum is very well cared for and enjoys her time there being supported by staff that really care. There is a real sense of family which makes our visits even more special. There is always something going on or someone to talk to. So mum is very happy and content there. I would definitely recommend.
My father spent the last few months of his life at Heron Lodge. This home has an excellent management team. The staff are all compassionate and caring, both towards the residents and the families. Communication with me and the family was always excellent – They always had time to address my concerns despite being very busy at times. My dad was quite frail when he first arrived after previously living independently, but at Heron Lodge he perked up and seemed more like his old self. He enjoyed his time here even though his mobility and memory were failing him. Well done Heron Lodge.
My mum has been at Heron Lodge for exactly a year now, and I cannot fault anything about her care. She is always dressed lovely with her hair brushed etc The staff are all amazing, they are like a family to my Mum. It doesn't matter what their job is, if they see anything that needs doing or anyone who needs help, they are straight in. The communication I have always had with the home is brilliant. The management are brilliant and again always hands-on. This is a 5 star home.
If you're looking for a nursing home for your parents or relative, look no further. My dear dad was only at Heron Lodge for a short time but the care not only for my dad but for me too was exceptional. My dad was kept immaculately clean and tidy at all times and all personal issues were dealt with very professionally. Every single member of staff was very approachable at all times for the smallest of queries. I can’t praise Heron Lodge high enough. Thank you to each and every one of you for all your help and support.
I cannot speak highly enough of the care my aunt received whilst living at Heron Lodge during the final months of her life. At 94 years of age, my aunt was frail and chose to stay mainly in her room. However, her needs were always addressed with great kindness and dignity. The staff were always popping in to check on her and to offer a kind word and a cheerful face. Before she died she told me she was being well looked after and that her meals were lovely! Grateful thanks to all the staff at Heron Lodge!
Mum has been in Heron Lodge for just over a year. Although we have not seen the home in normal times we can see that she is happy and content. It feels like mum is safe and well cared for and there has not been a covid outbreak so good procedures are in place. The home has always been able to facilitate safe visits during the pandemic for family members and always go out of their way to enable phone or video calls to be made. We get regular updates from the manager on what is happening at the home and also specifically on how mum is doing. There are also Zoom meetings for family and residents too. The home seems to have good links to other medical professionals for when needed. The staff are very friendly and thoughtful, an example is that the kitchen staff keep in snacks which they know mum likes and she can pop into the kitchen at any time and request what she would like as she doesn't always like to eat at regular times.
