View Full Details of Larchwood HouseDont judge a book by its cover is the saying. Mum has been a resident in Larchwood for nearly 3 years. We were recommended by a neighbour and we have since highly recommended to anyone who is in the unfortunate position of finding a home for a loved one. There are several new homes in the area that are all nice and shiny, but what are the carers like ? The staff at Larchwood are 2nd to none , it really is a home for the residents, all the staff are so friendly and helpful yet very professional . We can relax knowing that mum is getting the best care that she can. Thank you to everyone at Larchwood
Larchwood is an excellent care provision as my scores reflect.
Larchwood on the first day of visiting I noted had a friendly feeling. All the staff are attentive and when asked for anything have always accommodated. My mother settled into Larchwood following spending some time in hospital, she has done amazingly well with the care she has received and all the family are so pleased with the support and kindness that has been given to mum and her family.
My mother was having palliative care. She finally died at Larchwood House after being in hospital. We were dismayed at the decor of her room, the walls were chipped, paint knocked off the walls. Toilet roll holder hanging off wall and bathroom used for storage of cleaning equipment. Broken safety rail on the bed which wasn't repaired. My sister had to ask her to be moved. The whole place needs maintenance repair, the gardens need maintaining. We wanted to get her moved when we saw the state of the place but this was not possible.
The home is clean, good food, the staff are helpful, caring and always on hand if needed.
When we were told that my mum would need to go into a nursing home at the age of 90 following a fall where she broke her hip, we were offered just 2 placements in the area; one was Larchwood and the other was a 35 minute drive away for me and further for other family members. We therefore decided to take a look at Larchwood first. Now, this certainly isn't the prettiest building you're ever going to see. It appears to be a converted very large former family house that has been added to. However, right from the start (May 24) the management and staff swung it for me and we chose this place. I was taken on a tour around the facility and introduced to various members of staff who have subsequently looked after my mum with unwavering care and commitment despite the fact that Mum can be a bit awkward at times. If it's top rate care you want rather than a pretty exterior, then this could well be the place for your loved one.
My Father came here and the way all the staff from the cleaners, carers, kitchen staff and management treated my dad was with respect, courtesy, polite and friendly. He was welcomed and treated with dignity. My thanks go out to all the staff.
My brother, myself and all the family would like to say a "big" thank you to all the staff at Larchwood House for the nursing care they have given our mum for the past three months. They were all excellent. Mum passed away there due to previous strokes, dementia and old age. We were so grateful that Mum ended her last months there. Thank you again to the manager and all the staff.
I have always been happy with the care my father has received since being in the home in September 2021. If he has ever had a fall etc. they are always in touch to advise me of this. I am always kept informed of anything happening to/with him. The management team and all staff are caring and will always spend time with my father, engaging with him whenever they can. I really do feel he is in a very safe and secure environment with the best care I could wish for, for him.
I like being here, all the staff and management are very nice and friendly. The food is brilliant and very good choices. I enjoy all the activities.
The care my aunt has received to date from all the management and staff is first-class. She has been cared for almost 7 years now and the attention and more importantly the love and kindness they have shown is fantastic. I would highly recommend the nursing and residential home to anyone with a loved one who needs that additional help and support.
I am happy living in this care home. I like my food here. Carers are very nice and helpful. I appreciate that I am and feel safe here, better than in my onw flat. I am free to organize my time, I read books which a volunteer brings me regularly from the library. I have my own laptop and on it I do crosswords and contact my family and friends. I also like our garden where I walk every day. I like flowers and vegetables there.
Larchwood House provided amazing palliative care for my mum for 15 months. The staff are caring and friendly. As a family, we are so grateful for their help and care at a very difficult time. My personal experience was that the care went way beyond just caring for Mum. The staff were always on hand to see us through the difficult, rough periods in Mum's journey. I can honestly say it was a privilege to get to know the staff and know Mum was in very safe hands, and I do not know how we would have achieved such a dignified and caring end to Mum's life without them. Thank you.
The management is exceptional and very helpful. Care staff are also very helpful and show care, consideration and patience, and the food is of a very high standard, along with the presentation. We feel as though our father is in the right place, being looked after by the right people. Personally, we would highly recommend this nursing home.
My husband likes being in this home. He feels at home. Staff are very caring and look after him very well. He likes activities and entertainment - music is his favourite. Chefs cater for his needs very well. Staff always find time to explain things to him as he gets confused at times.
Our mum is happy at Larchwood House and gets on well with all the staff. It is very reassuring to us that Mum is settled and now Covid restrictions are more relaxed we are able to visit freely. As Mum is immobile we appreciate all the effort that needs to be carried out so Mum can join in her favourite activities. Mum is looked after with care and friendliness, we are very grateful for that.
My friend can be difficult at times but the staff are very good with him. He says the food is good and from what I have seen it looks lovely. He says he is happy here and well looked after. The staff, management and maintenance staff are very kind. Keep up the good work.
For the short time mother was in the home I was well pleased with the way mother was treated. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I also found the management were always caring, and extremely helpful at all times. All the teams were friendly and always wanted to do the best they could for mother and were helpful and caring after her death.
The staff have been fantastic and we are grateful for all they have done.
I have been here for three months now and my treatment has been great. On my first arrival, I couldn't walk but now I can. This is due to the staff here and food.
