My husband has been a resident in the Sandpiper Wing for just over a year. I visit as much as possible, I have found the staff very helpful and caring and feel he is being well looked after. The home is introducing regular resident care plan reviews and meetings with management have been reinstated with relatives, both are a positive step forward. My husband's room is carpeted, which although regularly cleaned harbours smell and is stained, I have raised this and am aware of budgetary and other constraints, but feel hard flooring would be a vast improvement. Due to design and space, there is no family room available and the communal lounge is often full, which makes accommodating more than one visitor per resident difficult. Several items of my husband's clothing have disappeared despite being marked with his name and room number, the introduced tagging system seems to work reasonably well. Activities and events are really good, e.g., live music, buffets for friends and relatives on special occasions. They have recently introduced a visual offering of meals available for residents to choose from.
Our uncle was admitted to The Paddocks on the 7th of December 2022. From day one he was treated with care, compassion and dignity. His room had all safety and security fitments that you would expect. His room was clean, bright and comfortable. The staff were absolutely marvellous, very caring and compassionate and patient. While our uncle was dying he was never left alone. In addition to care home staff by his side constantly, they regularly brought in a doctor, nurse or paramedic whenever needed. The food is excellent and the decor and facilities are excellent. A wonderful caring, safe environment.
The Paddocks has a very caring and homely feel at all times. The staff are always on hand when needed which I feel is very important. I have recommended this home when asked as my mother is well looked after and can still enjoy her later years in comfort.
I love being here.
Carers are good
The care and support for my father were very good and there was always good communication with me about his well-being. Staff were friendly and efficient, treating residents with dignity and kindness. I think there could have been more activities to engage residents but I recognise this was difficult with residents with dementia. Food and drinks were good.
My husband was a resident at The Paddocks Care Home for two years. He sadly passed away in April 2023, this year. We have nothing but appreciation for all the care he received, always being treated with dignity and respect. A big thank you to all the staff for looking after him so well.
During a very difficult time during my Dad's final weeks, the staff were very kind and understanding. My family and I will always be grateful for the care he received during his time at The Paddocks Care Home. Many thanks.
My mother has been a resident for more than ten years and in the early years enjoyed the social life such as coffee mornings etc. She is now one hundred and two years old and despite the limitations of age she is still content and well cared for.
The Paddocks is a very well-run care home. Meeting the needs of my parents very well. The rooms are very well-fitted and the events to keep them occupied are very well thought through. The food given provides a very well-balanced diet. An all-round nice place to be.
Mum's dementia medication ran out on 15/02/2023 and The Paddocks Care Home did not request anymore from the doctors, therefore, Mum was left with no dementia medication for three weeks which resulted in a significant deterioration in her dementia. Food portions are far too big for older people, there is a lot of food wasted.
Dad loved his stay at The Paddocks, well cared for. He enjoyed the activities and being taken out for a walk into town. I would recommend The Paddocks and he is booked in for November and March next year.
My sister is very happy and settled. Well looked after. Goes to church and the staff take her.
I feel content living here. I am near my son now. I join in some activities when I choose.
The kitchen staff will always change the menu if I ask. All the staff are very kind. I enjoy playing cards with other people and staff.
The staff in The Paddocks, have made my mum so welcome and happy. It's been a long journey to get her settled and now she is. She always says how happy she is. The staff cannot do enough for her and are more like friends than carers. Thank you.
As my brother's sister, I find my brother is very happy. He loves all the staff. I am very pleased and I always get treated lovely. The staff are very encouraging to get my brother to join in with activities.
A very pleasant two weeks of relaxation. Would I do it again? Yes, I would, without a doubt.
Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere.
Happy with staff, happy with the food.
