View Full Details of Sanford House Nursing HomeMy husband spent his final weeks at Sanford House Nursing Home, and I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the entire team for their kindness and compassionate care. Every need was met with warmth, patience, and a smile-nothing was ever too much trouble. The home itself is immaculate, with bright and welcoming spaces that create a comforting environment. A special thank you to Senior Nurse, whose exceptional dedication went above and beyond to ensure my husband and our family felt as comfortable and supported as possible.
Our father was admitted to Sanford House Nursing Home from hospital on 7/1/25. He was only in the home a short time before he passed away there on 26/1/25. However, we can not speak highly enough of all the staff we came across whilst our dad was there. They were all so lovely, very attentive and efficient and cannot fault the care he received there in his final weeks and days. We would wholeheartedly recommend this home with regard to care, nursing, family support and especially the palliative care. Our dad was treated with dignity and we appreciate that very much.
The care home manager has transformed what was a dated approach in that home into an absolute gem. My wife's 49 and has MS and as she's way too young to be in a nursing care section but is the time they spend one-on-one and even on days off making sure my wife and other residents get that personal connection is way above and beyond. This isn't funded, and this isn't in not just in my wife's situation but others this isn't because it's extra funding they do it because they care I've spoken and expressed this to the manager who's always available to talk. I've myself worked in care homes and leadership starts from the manager and getting a team to support their idea of excellent care and that's exactly what's being achieved that home has really started to shine under her and I'm very thankful.
Dad was in need of urgent residential nursing care and Sanford although 30 minutes from his home proved to be the perfect place for him in his final 2 months of life. The family can't thank the team enough for the care and compassion they showed Dad. He was happy to be here and they made his time here pleasant and soluble as much as they could before he was too weak to join in - but he was happy at his end of life. And when that came he was comfortable, pain free, and loved. Thank you Standford for all being so wonderful to our Dad.
Since moving to Sanford House Nursing Home my dad has been treated with the utmost care and attention. All the managers and staff have been fantastic and we are very sorry that he has had to move, it is not our choice. Thank you for everything you have done for him, we are very grateful.
When someone you love has care needs greater than you can provide as a family, the emotions are overwhelming. The care and treatment provided by the staff at Sanford House was individualised, consistent and of a high standard; over and above what we had anticipated but everything we could have hoped for. The communication and support for us as a family was honest, reassuring and compassionate. Every person we met whatever their role had a positive and kind attitude and we would have no hesitation based on our experience in recommending this care home to others.
Thank you for easing our concerns and reassuring us when my husband was discharged from hospital to be cared for at Sanford House. The knowledge and experience of the staff helped us enormously. It was a different time for all of us but he was made comfortable and received wonderful care. Meals were excellent, all staff interacted with him constantly and they kept us informed all the time. He sadly passed away and that experience was made easier by the kind staff. Thank you from all his family.
The staff have looked after me very well and very patient when I was very ill when I first came here. I thank everyone for their care. I am now feeling much better and look forward to being able to get about.
A friendly and caring community. Management and staff work hard to cater for a diverse group of people. Other friends with knowledge of other homes speak highly of Sanford House!
As a resident whose family was spread across the country, with 3 children in Scotland, I can only commend the care, respect and friendship that was shown to my mother. As her condition deteriorated the level of attention that she was given and the phone calls we received assuring us of her comfort were extremely assuring to us that she was in the place that suited her increasing needs. All the nursing staff were interacting with her and this was more than evident in conversations I had with them. We cannot thank the staff enough for this.
Just can't fault Sanford House Nursing Home. My dad arrived here after a long spell in hospital and wish we could have got him here sooner. Staff and care go above and beyond with a feel-at-home atmosphere. I only gave the activities an excellent tick based on previous reviews because my dad was unfortunately too poorly to participate in any. Everything else in my opinion was faultless and just can't express enough how efficient the whole setup is. Bless you all the team and would recommend it without any hesitation.
Although he was only at the home for a short time all the staff went out of their way to make the whole family comfortable. His dementia made it hard for him to communicate but we could see that he appreciated the care given. All of the staff made sure that he and we were kept involved in his care and informed. Two areas we did mark slightly lower were 'Rooms' - functional but a little dated/austere. 'Security' - we did have an issue with toiletries going missing. Overall though we are very grateful to all the management and staff for making his final days a little easier. Thank you.
Lovely Valentine's lunch with our loved ones, made to feel so welcome. My partner spent nine weeks in hospital, I thought we'd lost him, two weeks in Sanford House, different person. Nothing but praise.
My father came into the home as very poorly, not long to live. The manager and all staff have been very caring and always available if we needed to talk. The home is very clean, lovely choice of food and well-run. The care my father is receiving is very good. They are doing everything they can to make him comfortable and keep us informed. Would recommend this home to other families.
We came to the dementia presentation which was excellent, informative, enjoyable and has left us with a much better understanding of the disease. The professionalism of the staff is always evident and now we feel we can tackle our family, who have dementia, with a much better understanding and can be sympathetic of their needs. The scotch eggs were delicious, as was the rest of the food. Thank you.
Although half of the ratings are marked good, all these are closer to excellent rather than satisfactory. I visit my wife (who can be difficult/awkward) more or less daily and see that much time is given and much effort is made to attend to her needs. Also, as a relative, I greatly appreciate the time given to me by all staff to keep me informed on what has been happening and for helping to sort out various issues with my wife's care. Some ratings are left blank because - facilities and activities, my wife is very frail and immobile and hence unable to make use of/participate in these. However, I am aware of the weekly/monthly events and have seen the efforts made by staff for these, plus talks. Value for money, as presently care is funded through the NHS.
We all have been extremely impressed and happy with our first experience of the home. We attended the dementia talk and learned a lot, thought it was wonderful that the staff put on such informative and helpful evenings. We would 100% recommend the home to anyone whose loved one needs care, thank you all so much.
I have to congratulate the staff at Sanford House, each and every one of them has been supportive, informative and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My mother was welcomed into the home for palliative care and she has been made very comfortable and is having a care plan put into place to cater for her needs. It is a very emotional time and the staff are very reassuring and supportive. My own criticism is the decor is a bit tired and outdated. Perhaps a lick of paint would brighten things up but I am aware that a refurbishment is currently being put in place.
This is a very good place for my brother-in-law to reside. He is treated with dignity and respect. He is well cared for by the staff and if his room needs anything fixing it is done promptly and safely.
Before arriving at Sanford House, my son and I visited several care homes because we wanted the best for my wife. Sanford House stood out like a beacon. It was in our view the best we had seen. We were not disappointed. The environment at Sanford House was perfect for our needs. The staff exercise a great deal of care, superb food, well-cooked and very well-presented. The management should be congratulated for the environment in which care is provided.
