View Full Details of SutherlandsAfter feeling very apprehensive about my father-in-law going into residential care our fears were soon overcome. We found the staff very caring and professional, kind to father-in-law and always made us feel welcome when we visited.
I have nothing but great admiration for Sutherlands Care Home (Wymondham). My mother has now been a resident there for a year. The care she receives is excellent. My mother clearly feels content and safe at Sutherlands. She is extremely well cared for. The staff are very caring, empathetic and warm. There are activities provided most days and I am extremely impressed. The Activities Co-ordinator really takes time to cater for the interests of individuals.
My brother-in-law appeared to be content in his new surroundings. All staff were very obliging and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. The food presented looked very appetising and plentiful. I left feeling confident that he was being cared for by a very competent team.
My sister was very happy here, it was the first time she had been away from me in 10 years and said she would love to come back again. She loved the food and thought your staff were lovely. The rooms were clean and comfortable. As for myself, everyone put my mind at rest and I want to thank them al for their kindness.
I can not find fault. The staff are marvelous. Can't fault the food. I have enjoyed being here. I have enjoyed the company, there is always someone to talk to. It's a lovely home. I am more happy here than in my own home.
The care and support of residents is paramount to the very friendly staff and they are always engaging with them. The home has a very happy atmosphere.
Beautiful home. Lovely people who work there, they look after my nan and plenty of other residents and treat me and my family nicely. I respect them all, they are like fellow friends. I am very thankful to them for looking after my lovely nan.
I visit my sister as much as I can. The staff are always polite and attentive and make me feel welcome and involve me in any way they can. My questions, queries or concerns are always treated with the utmost respect and answered on the spot or as quickly as possible. My sister has limited mobility but she is always included in any entertainment etc. I am always well-informed with anything that involves my sister. I feel that at this stage, her needs are being adequately met and I feel happy in the knowledge that she is being cared for.
We are very glad we found Sutherlands to care for Mum. She has now been at Sutherlands for three months; we were initially impressed by the lovely atmosphere within the home. Our experience during the three months has reinforced our initial impressions. Mum has received outstanding care; we commend all staff, they are kind, happy and patient, nothing seems too much trouble; they seem to really care for the residents. The nursing medical staff are great, very competent, attentive and friendly, always on duty and keeps us updated and well informed. The activities coordinator is marvellous, befriending and including all residents to whatever level they wish. Management has coordinated and inspired a proficient and effective team, including catering, cleaning and maintenance. We are very happy with the care and security at Sutherlands, but more importantly, Mum is happy and settled there. Thank you, Sutherlands; it is reassuring to know Mum is well cared for in such a nice environment.
The staff were very caring right to the end. They looked after the family at a very difficult time for everyone. They kept us informed on what was happening at all times. Staff, including kitchen, maintenance, cleaning etc, made you feel welcome and knew who you were and who you were visiting.
Each time I visit my mother, she is very happy, clean and tidy. She has a nice large room with a shower etc. The food always looks very nice and smells nice. The actual home has no nasty smell and is very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and helpful and seem to really care for the patients. They do various activities at the home, and on occasion,l take them out for coffee, shops, cake etc. I am always made welcome and given coffee, and can pop in anytime, no appointment needed!
I have found the home for my wife very good. All the staff are friendly and caring, and residents are encouraged to take part in activities organised for them. Relatives are encouraged to visit at any time, outside meal times.
I thought it was a well-organised meeting providing food. Refreshments for all. Everyone seemed lovely and friendly, including all staff and residents and their families. It was good to hear from management on the improvements taking place and involving the residents in also asking them about menu choices, also on themed food nights of their choice. There was definitely a nice feel to the home and my mum is happy in there and there seem to be lots more activities done with residents thanks to the activities coordinator.
My mother moved to Sutherlands in September 2018 from sheltered accommodation after a period of illness which required several weeks in the local general hospital. Until her illness, my mother was fit and well for her age, and was able to live her life completely independently. Her illness had left her very physically frail and quite disorientated to time and place. She had lost a lot of weight, was weak, and generally in a poor physical condition. Within a matter of weeks after arriving at Sutherlands, thanks to the excellent input, care and patience from all staff at Sutherlands, she recovered completely mentally, and her physical condition improved so that she became largely self-caring, with only minimal help. There is a good mix of regular (not agency) Registered Nurses and extremely competent Nursing Assistants always on duty. The meals are excellent, and there is a programme of activities that are designed with full involvement of the residents. Highly recommended.
My Mum has been living at Sutherlands for 8 months now. There have been a few teething problems but on the whole, the staff have shown much kindness and patience to Mum. The home has a very friendly feel to it, the staff seem to quickly learn the resident's names and their needs. There are often activities for those who want to join in and special occasions (Christmas/Easter etc) they put on entertainment too. My one complaint would be not enough carers, but I think that's the case anywhere. Having said that I'm pleased with the care that is given to Mum.
Mum has been at Sutherlands for almost a year now. Although she can't readily indicate specifics to us we know she is happy, cared for, nursed and clean - given Mum's condition that is as much as we can ask. The management structure changed dramatically late last year and we have every confidence in this. Nurses and carers invariably have a very sociable demeanour and are very easy going which makes days that are difficult for us far easier to bear. Any issues we've had have been addressed immediately and to our satisfaction. An excellent feature of Sutherlands is that each room has a door to the gardens - an absolute boon, especially in hot weather! The very best asset this nursing home has are its staff.
Wow and a double wow. My mum went to Sutherlands for a two-week respite. Could not fault this place. The carers were exceptionally friendly and caring. When looking for care homes don't just look at the CQC rating. Look at customer reviews first. Thanks for having Mum. Hope to see you all soon....I have marked all good and excellent as some I never encountered Food and activities. But Mum came home happy and tired!!!!
My mother has been living at Sutherlands for the last 6 months following a long stay in hospital. She has improved physically and mentally since moving there. I was concerned that she might be distressed at not being able to go home but she has settled in happily and is always calm and cheerful when I visit. The staff are always helpful and ready to answer any queries, and the home feels clean and well maintained. Activities are varied and suggestions are always welcome.
The standard of care is excellent. We are kept informed frequently. Extremely helpful staff who are always willing to assist with all needs. Clean and the residents are treated with care and compassion.
The staff at Sutherland are excellent, as is the care. I'm so thankful at last after a struggle with another home that we have found a little gem in Sutherland. The care and the management are excellent. Thank you all so much for being there for mum, and also us, she is happy to call Sutherland her home, and we are content in the knowledge she is being well looked after.
