View Full Details of Walcot Hall Nursing HomeI came to visit my friend in the afternoon. I found the staff helpful. There was a nice feel to the place and seemed very comfortable for all.
There always seems to be a very calm atmosphere. Often when I visit there is an activity going on. Staff seem to be very kind and considerate of the residents and act in a very professional but friendly way.
Absolutely fantastic.
Fantastic, Mum's remaining time will be the absolute best. Thank you for your care and easing my fears for her remaining time, we are making each day count.
My Father has been at Walcot Hall for 6 months and has had excellent care. There are always members of staff available to see to him and if we have any questions. The cleanliness and the security is first class. All the staff treat Dad well and have respect for him.
The staff at Walcot Hall are the most caring and efficient I have ever met. The facilities are incredible, very well managed, and spotlessly clean. The care and welfare of the residents always comes first which is evident in everything the staff do. A great place!
Our elderly and very frail friend has now been a resident at Walcot Hall for approaching a month and we have visited him on several occasions, and each time have been overwhelmed with the welcome shown to both my husband and myself and even our dog! Every member of staff seems so committed and focused on providing care, compassion and time with the residents - nothing appears to be too much trouble. Happy staff, happy residents, all provided in a calm and spotlessly clean environment.
Staff are very good and listen. Food also very good and varied. Cleaning and laundry are excellent. No complaints at all.
Very pleased with Dad's care. Lovely to have cheerful and helpful staff. A staff member has responded to our suggestion for more variety in Dad's pureed food as we felt he would enjoy sponge in custard etc. She was brilliant. Another two members of staff are very supportive of activities etc. Another staff member is lovely. I always get offers of help and feel listened to.
We believe that service is compromised by regular staff shortages. This affects our experience through slow response times when calling for assistance. Today (16/10/24) and yesterday (15/10/24), no morning teas/coffees were provided, either in the morning or afternoon. We also believe that toiletries should be provided e.g. soap, shower gel etc. Overall our experience is satisfactory but it could be improved if these matters were attended to. We like most of the staff and do not like to complain.
We visited our friend in Walcot Hall in September. She was terminally ill but receiving a high level of kindness and good care. On our arrival we were greeted warmly, and as we had to wait a little while, we were offered somewhere comfortable to sit and a cup of tea. She was in a lovely room and said that she was being well cared for.
I visited my friend who was staying in Walcot Hall Nursing Home for end-of-life care. At all times she was treated with care and compassion by your staff. Her dignity was always respected. When I visited I was always given a warm welcome by the care assistants and nothing was too much trouble.
Mother-in-law was a resident for 15 years - she was always looked after well and we were always welcome. The staff knew her well and tried their best to make her happy in her last few years. She always thought of it as her home. Marked as 4-star because recent price hikes seemed beyond inflation.
Not a lot to say really, my wife is happy with the care she receives, also very happy with the food she gets. I am also very welcome when I visit which is most days.
I visited Walcot Hall for the first time - It is an extremely welcoming environment with cheerful staff and residents. The home is beautiful, bright and clean and the grounds are stunning. Throughout my visit I noticed residents in the communal area enjoying themselves alongside staff and families. The manager is welcoming and very knowledgeable. She showed us around and is obviously extremely proud of the home, her staff and all residents.
There has been a vast improvement in the atmosphere and in the general morale of this home since a new manageress has been in charge. Residents (in the main) do not spend all day in their rooms now but meet together in "The Link" where they socialise together. There are many activities arranged for the residents with games, visiting animals (domestic) and others like musical events which all contribute to residents wanting fresh mental stimulation. Food is of an excellent standard with many choices. Overall very pleased with my brother's treatment by all staff.
At every stage of my mother's stay in the nursing home our expectations were exceeded. They kept us informed every step of the way, day and night. On her initial admission the nursing staff were very prompt in assessing my mother's condition and realised the need for further hospital assessment. All staff, whether kitchen, care, cleaning or admission were welcoming, respect and highly supportive to ourselves as well as my mother. One younger member of the care staff acted with great sensitivity and respect accompanying my mother to the hospital, staying with her until she was admitted overnight, Then she returned home by taxi in the early morning.
My brother-in-law came to Walcot Hall and from the moment he arrived he received outstanding care and attention which was extended to his visitors. The facilities at Walcot Hall are comfortable bright and cheery. Along with the excellent food (very important to a man). Since the arrival of a new manager things have got even better.
My mother moved into Walcot Hall in November 2023, following a long spell in hospital, and has been there ever since. The team at Walcot are like one big, extended, lovely, welcoming family. My mother has been treated with nothing but kindness, dignity and respect and is really settled and happy there. All the staff are friendly, and only too happy to help. There are lots of activities on offer and not only are they all fully inclusive for all, but welcome family and friends to join in the fun too. I have heard so many horror stories of other care facilities from friends, but Walcot is the total opposite of this - it is such a warm and welcoming place and I feel completely reassured that my mother is receiving the very best care and support. I also never realised how useful it was to have the nurses available too - they are a team of very experienced professionals who are faster than an Olympic runner in identifying any medical issues that may arise! I cannot recommend Walcot enough.
Exceptional care and compassion from all staff of Walcot Hall not only for my husband but extended to myself. My husband is treated with dignity, I cannot express my gratitude enough, two little words, thank you are not sufficient but will have to suffice.
