View Full Details of Barchester Alice Grange Care HomeOur mother had a stroke in 2023, had lost the mobility on her left side and hadn't been coping well with home carers. We were delighted that we managed to get her a room at Alice Grange as it looked amazing and the carers were so friendly. The food leaves a lot to be desired and the strict regime of the management was heart-breaking. My mother was not allowed a table for jigsaw puzzles, despite whole rooms not in use. When they used the dining room on the 1st floor, there were only 4 residents in there, but they were made to sit on the table in the middle & not permitted to move next to the window. Rules are so strict and appearance is too important. The carers and cleaners were amazing and well qualified, but over worked as bells were constant. The management team seemed ok at first, but finance was a mess and the admin bordered on rude and uncaring. So glad she left as she is so much happier in her new home, laughs more & her mobility has improved. Looks aren't everything.
My Uncle has recently come to reside at Alice Grange Care Home. My first visit was so welcoming and really festive, I was offered refreshments and mince pies, it made it feel like a real home from home. The home was decorated beautifully and very Christmassy. There was lots of fun and laughter heard. There was a singer on the day that I visited but on looking at their activities planner, there was so much more planned over the Christmas period. I look forward to visiting again soon and all my worries about my Uncle being in a care home have now been put aside, as I know he is comfortable receiving good hearty meals. He has a smile on his face with all the planned events that are happening and what he has already gone to.
I found it very relaxing. I would recommend it if you can afford it! The staff are caring and all treated me with respect.
I would like to know the activities that are participated in. Unsure whether undressing into her night clothes and showering each day. At home, she did need help. Knowing her, she's probably saying she's capable but I'm not sure - need checking. These are just teething troubles whilst she settles in. Overall, very happy.
Overall, patient is very happy, clean and safe. Staff are very polite, very well cared for, very welcoming environment. Needs met all the time. Would recommend highly.
Friendly and welcoming home. Clean and tidy.
Barchester Alice Grange Care Home is a wonderful place and the staff try their hardest to give an excellent overall experience. Great home and care!
I was pleased that I chose this care home for respite for my husband and the staff seemed very caring. Also, I was given a tour when I called for a brochure which I very much appreciated. My husband enjoyed the activities, especially the concerts.
My sister and I were very impressed with the facilities at Barchester Alice Grange Care Home the day my mother was taken there. She was given her own room and settled in very well. The room was lovely and big which helped us as Mother has a large family. The food was always nice and served with a smile, as was everything else done at Alice Grange. Very professional. The activities are many, if you are able, with the activities coordinator very busy, planned things as there is always something going on. People are going out and about the local area, enjoying a day at the seaside or local museums. The home also has local musicians coming in to entertain the residents from time to time. The gardens are well-maintained and a joy to walk around with a beautifully laid out water feature in the newly constructed pagoda. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the very hard-working staff. The home has a great bunch of volunteers, who do a wonderful job, assisting the staff. All in all, an excellent home.
I have been so impressed with my mother's care home and the wonderful team who work tirelessly to ensure all the residents are kept safe. The rooms are very spacious and all the communal areas are wonderful. The gardens are very well kept. All the residents are encouraged to help out and can have their favourite plants and flowers planted. The dining facilities are second to none. I can't recommend Alice Grange Care Home enough. You need to visit to appreciate it to its fullest.
What a fabulous place, kind and caring, a real home-from-home environment. Activities are varied and plentiful, and staff are fantastic at meeting and considering the needs of everyone on a day-to-day basis, it's definitely not a 'one size fits all' approach. This is care at its absolute best.
My dad stayed with you for respite when my stepmother was very unwell and when she died. It was a difficult time for him and you took great care of him. Special mention for the senior carer who took him under her wing and made sure he was ok.
Thank you so much for all you have done for us. Your care and support is very much appreciated. It has been such a difficult and stressful time for the family and your help and care meant so much, especially for me with my father who was also in your care. Your warm welcome to me and all the family was special.
My father stayed in Barchester Alice Grange Care Home for the last eight months. It was a very difficult time for us all with our mother being very ill and then dying, we were worried about how he would cope. No problem at all - from the first day, all the staff made friends with him, looked after him, kept him well fed - he even put on weight - kept him busy and entertained and made him feel special. Even though he has dementia and does not really know where he is and we could not always visit him as often as we would have liked, he was always very cheerful and happy when we saw him. He had a beautiful, big room - we had a small party for five visitors in there before he left and could have had more! We have moved him out now but no reflection on Alice Grange and its staff, just for practical family reasons. But we will always remember and recommend Alice Grange to anyone from the greater Ipswich area who is looking for long-term care for a loved one.
Visiting my Mother during a coffee morning. Excellent care and surroundings.
My mum came to Alice Grange after a stay in hospital. Mum has benefitted from the care she has received at Alice Grange and now appears much stronger. The staff has always been kind and helpful.
My wife receive excellent all-round care during her two-week respite stay and should the need arise, we would be very happy to return. My wife was unsure before the stay but would happily return.
My grandmother needed an emergency care support and we found Alice Grange. The team were very helpful and professional and the process was smooth. When my nana arrived staff were attentive to her needs. We are looking for a permanent stay at Alice Grange, it feels like home for my nana.
