View Full Details of Haughgate House Nursing HomeI visited my uncle, unannounced, and was very impressed with the way in which he is being cared for. He has always looked immaculate before he moved in, and he looked immaculate today. His clothes very smart and clean. I joined an activity with him. Bingo. He then felt he didn't want to play and was given the option to just watch. The member of staff was very up to date with his individual needs and what activities he prefers. Whilst also bearing in mind that he enjoys being quiet. I was very pleased with all I saw.
As a family we would like to express our appreciation for the care our mother received in her final days. We felt supported by the amazing staff at Haughgate House - making this sad time a very special and positive one. The manager and all staff went above and beyond. They were respectful and professional and their compassion shone through. Many thanks to all.
My mother spent the last six weeks of her life in Haughgate. The staff were amazing, they cared for my mother with such kindness and compassion.
We had an amazing experience. The care is provided for physical, emotional, and psychological. There was so much compassion and empathy and for today my Father and all his needs were met to the highest standard. The staff and managers was also so prepared of the family, myself, my mother and my son.
My second stay at Haughgate House for respite care. Managers. nurses, carers very helpful and kind. Food excellent. I strongly recommend Haughgate House.
When I arrived after a knee replacement there was no shower chair, raised toilet seat, sharps box or suitable chair to sit in. Items took 4-7 days to arrive. No running water for 2 mornings. Most of the staff had no or little command of the English language nor understanding of caring needs. No visit to my room by the manager to check everything was in order. Noisy room next to lift especially during the night. Woken at 7am, no breakfast until after 9am. Food was not appetising a bad experience, leaving me depressed.
Really quite excellent care by all staff, from the manager and admin staff down to all carers. Some difficulty in understanding foreign-born carers but they were most conscientious. Manager and admin staff were hands-on at all times.
I just wanted to pass on how happy my brothers and I are for Mum's care. We appreciate how much is on offer activity-wise and how hard you all work to help Mum engage - we also appreciate this can be tricky when my stepfather sometimes prevents this engagement. Mum is physically so much more healthy than she has been in a long time and it's a relief to see how content she always is - we are so grateful.
Having checked a few nursing homes for our dad after several bad falls and a miserable stay in hospital, I have to say that Haughgate House was literally a breath of fresh air. Tasteful decor, spotlessly clean but with a warm homely feeling. We knew this would be a difficult move for Dad as leaving his home and especially his garden was not ever considered but was welcomed with open arms by all staff, going above and beyond their care to ensure Dad is happy and safe. Dad loves the food and is really looking forward to spring when he can venture into the garden. So a huge thank you to everyone for all the hard work they have put into making a place to call home and allowing us as a family to put the worries of Dad's care to one side and just enjoy special visits with him!
When it is considered that the resident is expecting to receive all the welfare issues for someone in care. However, as my wife is 75, she does have a little difficulty with activities due to limited movement. The wider issues of her care is very satisfactory when you consider the mental issues that she has and need a slightly different approach. There is the added advantage that visitors receive when visiting residents.
We were so impressed from the moment we visited Haughgate House to see if it was the right place for Dad. Now Dad is a resident. we are so happy he is there. All staff from the manager, back office, activity, kitchen and care staff are wonderful. When you enter it feels like home, staff engage with Dad allowing him to hear their experiences and for him to share his. Haughgate House has provided a safe, caring and varied environment removing all the worries and concerns we had as a family. Thank you!
Both my over ninety year old parents were moved to Haughgate House following a traumatic stay in hospital after a joint fall. They were given side by side bedrooms and visits to see each other facilitated whenever desired. They even managed to get my completely immobile dad onto my mum's bed for a last cuddle. Sadly, Mum's time there was only three weeks and Dad five, but they made sure that it was a stay with dignity and kindness. So many caring people; the nurses, healthcare assistant and wonderful kitchen staff always made us as comfortable as our parents (including providing several of us wonderful meals). They facilitated a stay with my mum around the clock for my sister, niece and I whilst Mum was dying. We won’t ever forget that and all the carers. A particular thank you to one young carer whose warmth with my dad was the only thing that could light him up at times; holding his hand, giving him a hug and patiently feeding him. We will forever be in your debt. Thank you!
When choosing a care home for my parents it was a hard process, however, Haughgate House Nursing Home were very understanding and supportive. My parents have been at Haughgate for nearly two years and in that time the staff have been very professional, friendly and very approachable. The activities/outings are excellent with lots of variety. The summer fete and Christmas bazaar were well attended which confirmed this. I also value the opportunity to attend relatives' meetings which is a good form of communication. The kitchen staff are very friendly towards the residents and the food is excellent. Haughgate House does feel very homely which I feel my parents need, which ultimately is down to all the amazing staff who work very hard to achieve this.
Just a brief note to thank all the staff at Haughgate House Nursing Home for the care given to Mum over the last few months. I'd never set foot in a care home before and I know Mum wasn't planning on finishing her days being cared for by strangers, however, I think it is fair to say that the care, love and attention given is exceptional. I don't think of any of you as strangers anymore but certainly some strange characters. All of you are doing an exceptional job in trying times with not enough resources, keep going. You are a credit to both Haughgate House and your professions. I've not named you I apologise I hope the fruit/biscuits and occasional treats that I bought in will be recompense for your omission all my own fault! At the end, you all showed compassion and dignity just as Mum would have wanted it. Going forward I hope that the current and future residents can rely on you all continuing to do your best to care and smile every day we always knew mum's stay would be a short one.
My grandparents have been here for 18 months. Staff are very caring and kind. Rooms are warm and comfortable with personal belongings to make it feel homely. The activities coordinator arranges thoughtful and engaging activities for residents and we are pleased, post covid there are now more activities that relatives to engage too. Management often changes and historically there has been a lack of communication, although we have seen an improvement in recent weeks. I must say though, that the regular staff and carers are wonderful and have built positive relationships with both residents and relatives. Thank you for all of your hard work, it is always appreciated.
When I visit the staff are always friendly and helpful but my mother says she is always cold so I have to ask for more blankets to make her more comfortable.
We have tried to visit our friend who used to have us to stay with her every year until lockdown. This year she is 98 years old. We noticed a great deterioration in her mental state and physical capability which is only to be expected. However, the way she has been looked after is quite excellent. The room was very pleasantly arranged with pictures and keepsakes. She was clean and comfortable and content.
Following a decline in health and a stay in hospital, my husband was in low spirits when he was transferred to Haughgate Nursing Home. Thankfully he has progressed with the professional, gentle care of the nursing staff and wonderful dedicated carers. The staff make every effort to bring the incapacitated into the daily sessions and where possible to go into the gardens. The atmosphere is calm and the staff are always available. Where possible residents go to the restaurant and all diets are accommodated. The home is well laid out and residents can move freely. Thank you I am so reassured that my dear husband is in a safe, caring and professional home.
The wonderful staff at Haughgate House cared for my mum over the past eighteen months. I would especially like to thank them for their compassion, kindness and thoughtfulness over the last few weeks of her life. I will always remember their sympathetic words and the strength they gave me.
My husband was discharged from hospital to the Haughgate House Nursing Home, after he had a protracted stay in hospital and needed more care than I was able to give him at home. We are so pleased to see how my husband has improved since he has been at the home. He has complex needs and requires a lot of nursing care, but all the staff are so kind cheerful and helpful. His room is very pleasant with a lovely large window and the care staff have placed his bed close to this so he is able to look out onto the garden. We have given a bird feeder with food today and the staff put this up immediately. The whole ambience when you enter is of a home from home feel. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to visit much as yet and are awaiting eagerly for the visiting to be extended beyond just myself so that the extended family can see their father/grandfather and great grandfather. My daughter and I would like to thank you for all your wonderful care in what is a very difficult time.
