View Full Details of Barham Care CentreBarham Care Centre has caring and engaging staff who cannot do enough to help and look after the residents. There is a lovely, relaxed and happy atmosphere and all the staff are really professional and so hardworking. We really couldn't fault this care home for our family member and we, as well as our family member, are treated with kindness and respect always. The carers never know when we are visiting and it is always the same lovely, calm atmosphere.
My relative is well cared for; this gives her family peace of mind. The home is always very clean, and all of the staff are very friendly and caring. The entertainment for the residents has gotten a lot better since one particular lady has been in place. It was also a lovely gesture that she made my relative some cupcakes for her birthday. The personal touch means a lot. Thank you, everyone, for all your care and commitment to your jobs, which are often stressful.
The manager was welcoming and friendly when we arrived and each time that I came was concerned about my well-being as I live in Colchester, at least 30 minutes away and have to be driven. My husband has had one-to-one care and all the staff have been kind and caring and made him feel at home and taken an interest in him. He has never once complained and has a good relationship with the staff. He enjoys the meals and he's put on weight. The nurses have made sure he takes his medication. There is a very good atmosphere in the home and my only regret is that it is not situated in Colchester. They have made certain he is active and walking and safe.
I have been extremely pleased with the care my husband has received since being admitted in September. All the staff are very helpful and caring. I am pleased that I chose this care home as he needed nursing care and would be very pleased to recommend it.
The staff are incredibly caring and treat residents as they would their own families. Happy, vibrant environment. Very professional. Genuinely feels like home. Leaders set the standards and have very high expectations.
I find everybody who works there very very kind and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Always say hello with a smile and welcome you with a cup of coffee. They tell you how your loved one has been while you're not there. The bedroom is always spotless and his clothes, washed and ironed. If I ever had to go into care, this is where I would want to go.
My husband was discharged from hospital in the middle of April and was sent to Barham Care Centre. It's not what I wanted for him, to go into care, and I got his wheelchair ready to pick him up and bring him home. My sister-in-law said 'Just give it a few days please'. I am so glad I did because Barham is his home now. I can't fault the care he gets. I am there most days for long periods and the staff have become like family. It's such a caring home and I know he is happy, bless him. I wish he was home with me but Barham is so good.
The first time that I visited Barham Care Centre I was immediately impressed by the care of the staff. It was after lunch and a few residents were still in the dining room with very patient carers. My opinion over the last few months not changed. Friendly, caring staff - each and every one of them.
Room bright and freshly decorated. Staff excellent and listen to residents. Inhouse, homemade catering, very high standards. 10 out of 10. Thank you.
Care home is very well organised. Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. The food is very good with a balanced diet.
A very friendly home, my cousin seems very happy here.
A review of Barham care centre in 1000 characters. Wow, doesn’t leave much does it. Well in a nutshell. Personally, I would not recommend this place to anyone. My Dad lasted 5 weeks here. He went for physiotherapy to strengthen his legs, caught Covid and a chest infection in the first week. His clothes went missing, and we got no response, only to be told that the washing machines had gone down and they were ploughing through the piles of washing. The food was meagre. The staff were few and far between. The room was awful, very shabby. It was noisy. My dad hated being there, we wanted him moved but were told there was nowhere else available. Essential medical equipment didn’t give accurate readings. Dad's bed wouldn’t always work. Dad was left in his room every day for those 5 weeks. No physio at all. It was a very unpleasant time for all the family but especially my dad.
On my recent visit to the care centre, I found the staff and management to be kind, thoughtful and helpful. The dinners being served at lunch time looked very appetising.
I cannot fault this care home in any way. Amazing professionals and a happy space. The staff are so friendly and all go out of their way to be kind, gentle and helpful. My father-in-law, unfortunately, had a short stay here before passing. But I was able to see firsthand and be there for a few days to see how wonderful everyone is with the dementia patients and other patients. I cannot fault it at all. Thank you so much to all the staff and the lovely environment of Barham care centre. Nothing was too much trouble to make my father-in-law or myself comfortable, from providing ongoing cups of coffee or a bed for me to rest on. So grateful. I only wish he could have been there earlier.
The kindness and patience are wonderful under very difficult conditions.
My cousin 95m, has been a resident for approximately a year. He is very happy, has a pleasant ensuite room and loved the meals. Everyone is kind and friendly and I have no hesitation in recommending Barham.
Staff and management very helpful, patient, understanding and caring.
Barham Care Centre has provided excellent care for my mother for the past two years and eight months. I highly recommend the staff, management and facilities.
The care, compassion and consideration by the entire staff team at Barham Care Centre are outstanding. They clearly are motivated to go above and beyond, the residents are treated as if family. As a joint Director in Social Care, I have nothing but praise for the care.
Our dad has been a resident here for 3.5 years. He now has late-stage dementia. I cannot commend the staff enough for how they have looked after him, particularly during the Covid pandemic when we were unable to visit him. We class Barham as his home. He is cared for well by carers and nursing staff. His dignity and treatment as an individual is maintained - despite his inability to do anything for himself now. I have noticed a change much for the better since a new manager. The staffing is more cohesive and there is certainly more going on for the residents with a full programme of activities. If you are looking for a hotel-style home I would suggest this isn't it. This is a warm, comfortable, caring home. He has always enjoyed his food and, despite him now being on soft food, it is presented well and he still enjoys eating it. Respect of each resident and member of staff is visible. The staff have all stepped up to the additional needs during Covid. Well done!
