I am pleased to provide a review for St Peter's House Care Home. Since my husband has been a resident and I was unable to care for him because of my own poor health I cannot fault any of the staff for the way he is looked after. Any problems he has had have been dealt with with kindness, efficiently and with dignity. His needs have been discussed with the appropriate staff as soon as possible. I have no need to worry about him when I have visited and I am well informed.
You will always receive a friendly reception when you arrive. All the staff from all areas of St. Peters are kind, caring and helpful. All the staff are approachable. My father has had a very challenging year with many different health problems and not wanting to eat. All staff have been caring and patient with him. They have kept me informed regarding his care and any treatment required and have taken the time to prepare the foods he will eat. I am pleased to see him taking part in the activities again especially when there is music involved. I know he is happy at St. Peters, safe and well cared for.
We are completely satisfied with the care our father received. The staff could not do enough for him. They were compassionate, caring and so supportive of the family during a very difficult time. The cost is high but seems comparable to other homes in town.
My father lived at St Peter's House for the final two years of his life. I live very far away, in North America, and I felt very assured and confident that Dad was treated with loving care, dignity, and respect. I sensed genuine feelings of professionalism but also love from all care staff, from management (recent year) to carers, team leaders, catering staff, and cleaning staff. This is a safe, well-run, and excellent facility. I was so grateful for the level of communication and support provided.
Our sister, arrived here last week, and today we arrived with a very different sister! Although frail, she was chatty and she hadn't been before, she was able to express how she was feeling, and the carers were so reassuring. We are so pleased we chose St Peter's Care Home!
My father-in-law came to St Peter's in November 2023. He has been welcomed so warmly and he has settled in wonderfully. The staff are so attentive and attend to all his needs. We recently held an anniversary party for my father-in-law, the home prepared wonderful afternoon tea with beautiful cake, sandwiches, scones and sausage rolls. Wonderful decorations and attention to detail! Highly recommended.
In just a few weeks the change in my mother-in-law is amazing. She is happier and healthier. She has taken part in numerous activities and loved them. From our first visit, the staff are positive and cheerful. Hospitality for visitors is unexpected and generous.
Good, I thoroughly enjoy it!
My father was struggling at home, and even with three care visits a day and the neighbours watching out for him, it was all getting too much for everyone. He was prone to going out wandering at random times, in all weathers too. This was placing extra pressure on the carers as he wasn’t always taking his tracker with him, so no one knew where he was. Placing him in St Peter’s has been a massive relief. Knowing he is safe, looked after, fed, warm and comfortable is a great weight off my mind; he is now settled and happy and is engaging with other residents and staff, which can only assist his illness. He is also close to me, so I can now visit whenever, either a quick brew with him or a longer stay for cake too!
My experience of care homes were one of trepidation, but on entering St Peter's House was completely unexpected. It was bright, friendly and just so lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do more for us. My sister had not looked good for a long time, but when we saw her, she looked happy for the first time in years and she looked well cared for. Well done you!
We were very pleased with the level of care being provided to my grandmother. There is a secure entrance, which gives added peace of mind, along with the buttons carried by residents at all time, ensuring assistance is always close at hand. My grandmother stated she was pleased with the food provided and enjoyed the view of the garden that could be seen from her room, which itself was suitably furnished and a perfect size for her. Overall, we would not hesitate to recommend this care home to others seeking such facilities.
A very friendly and welcoming environment which in our experience provides first-class care for my mother-in-law who is now ninety-seven and requires support in every aspect of her life. Modern en-suite bedrooms, well-appointed lounge and dining areas, attractive, sunny, secure garden to the rear and a broad range of entertainment to engage the residents. Mother has enjoyed a significant improvement in her underlying health since transferring from living at home to St Peter’s House six months ago.
My uncle moved into St Peter's House care home on the 30th of June 2023. He has moved up from Bristol with a terminal condition which has been a huge move/change for him. From the first contact I had with St Peter's staff in March 2023, I and my family have been treated with care, respect and humour by all the staff. Staff have gone above and beyond to ensure he and us are well cared for. I/we couldn't ask for a better home for his last months or years.
A warm, welcoming reception on arrival, very clean everywhere. It was good to see that our friend's room included a few pieces of her own furniture and that everything she needed was to hand. Our friend has limited movement so it was lovely to see she was dressed nicely and that her personal hygiene was well looked after. The staff we met on our visits were friendly and well informed of our friends condition and requirements.
Fantastic staff with good management operating a tired and under-maintained building and garden. However, the garden is being improved (very important), and rooms are being refurbished. So we have seen great improvement in the last five months.
I cannot recommend St Peter's House highly enough. My father, with advanced dementia, became a resident in July 2021 and stayed there until he died at the end of January this year. As well as seeing how friendly and kind all the staff were, both to my father and other residents, I particularly valued the care and concern shown towards my mother while visiting; they understand instinctively that relatives can also be vulnerable and need support. I also felt they offered superb end-of-life care, regularly keeping us informed about Dad's condition, making sure he was comfortable at all times and handling all aspects of his eventual passing so sensitively and well. I always felt with St Peters that Dad was absolutely in the right place. To see him relaxed and calm when visiting and see how cheery he was with the staff there was so heartening. I have a strong sense that St Peter's staff respect the people in their care and are truly committed to offering them the best possible experience.
St Peter's House has offered complete peace of mind with round the clock care. My mother is ninety-five and with poor vision couldn't cope any longer on her own at home. Staff are happy and inclusive around residents and trained to meet individual needs, the managers are very open and in fact welcome input from families to ensure their relatives are fulfilled and can cope with their new home environment. This is new territory for relatives as well and every effort is made to meet our needs which is a great comfort. The home is bright, clean and airy and there is a calmness, although there is a lot going on most days, residents are shown respect and privacy if they so wish. We like the fact that whatever your stage in the process of ageing, this home is inclusive and diverse.
The home is clean and welcoming - staff are helpful and friendly to both residents and family visitors. The residents are treated with the dignity they deserve.
The staff are extremely welcoming, charming and lovely, so clearly provide great care to the residents. They are also always on hand to provide help and advice to visitors if needed and kindly offer coffee and biscuits with your family. The lounges are very comfortable, warm, clean and nicely furnished in a homely fashion. Small tables are nicely laid daily for lunch. It's a very happy home, so many thanks to all.
