View Full Details of Norewood Lodge Care HomeVery impressed by the care provided to my mother for what turned out to be the final three weeks of her life. The level of care and support was exceptional; The staff were kind, supportive to her, and friendly towards her friends and family members too. At all times treating her with dignity and respect. I really cannot praise the facilities and the team there highly enough. A difficult and distressing time was made as comfortable as it could be.
Mum has been at Norewood Lodge for over a year and has been well looked after. Thank goodness for Norwood Lodge! The staff are all so kind and friendly. Mum never planned to go into a nursing home, but Norwood Lodge has done a good job of looking after Mum. Thank you.
Although Mum was well looked after she was quite lonely at times due to her poor hearing and eyesight. She is also an extremely early riser and this did not fit in with the routine. She enjoyed most of the afternoon entertainment. I thought the food was pretty good.
Could not have had a better place with excellent staff. They looked after my Mother as she passed away. They (the staff) put everyone who visited Mum at ease and treated Mum as if she were their own Mother/Grandmother. Highly recommend Norewood Lodge.
I cannot praise Norewood Lodge and its wonderful staff highly enough. My father was bed-bound and had to be hoisted twice daily between his bed and armchair, which the staff did willingly and cheerfully. My father, although physically incapacitated, was mentally acute and interacted with the staff, although he chose to have little contact with the other residents. He had his books, letters and poetry and was very content with that. When Southmead Hospital put him on their 'purple butterfly' pathway, he requested to be returned to Norewood Lodge, to end his days with his 'other family', and they looked after him with love and care.
My brother was quite shy and retiring, after living alone for a long time. After two weeks of respite care in Norewood Lodge, much to my relief he requested to stay permanently. The staff are excellent and have gently coaxed him into joining in and are making his last days really enjoyable. I can't praise them enough.
Very good, even though the staff can be very busy or just not enough. Good, kind staff. Food is also good. Nice views.
My dear mum moved into Norewood Lodge in August 2021, initially for respite care but she soon decided to stay. She felt safe, and content and having both nurses and carers available 24/7 gave her and us the reassurance needed. Mum adapted quickly to her new surroundings. She loved watching the ships go up the channel and joined in afternoon activities. Particularly enjoying the quizzes, weekly armchair exercises and the bingo of course. The prizes kept her in hand cream and snacks all week! Mum made some friends during her 2.5-year stay. One of the carers acted as her plus one at her grandson's wedding and completely supported her during the data enabling the rest of the family to enjoy both the day and Mum's company. The care at Norewood is second to none. Thanks, team Norewood.
No matter how made, a decision for a loved one to move into a care home is very difficult. Both my parents spent the final part of their long lives in separate periods in Norewood Lodge in Portishead; my mother between November 2019 and her passing in July 2022, and my father in the final six months of his life in 2023. The staff at Norewood Lodge treated both my parents with great dignity and went out of their way to ensure that they were comfortable and that all their needs were met - for my father this included putting him to bed between 5 pm and 6 pm and delivering his daily porridge at 6 am. Their rooms were spacious and airy - my father’s room looked across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast. Although it was sometimes difficult seeing both our parents in the late evening of their lives, the staff of Norewood Lodge went above and beyond in ensuring that their final days were in a secure and caring environment. My brother and I shall always remember Norewood Lodge with affection.
During Mum's five years at Norewood Lodge she received excellent and compassionate care. All the staff were attentive and caring and, as her mobility decreased, all her nursing needs were met with a smile. The reception staff were always welcoming to us, happy to talk and nothing was too much trouble if a problem arose. The catering staff offered good food and managed Mum's diet well. Mum died peacefully with family and staff at her bedside. We were given as much time as we needed with her and our privacy was respected. Our grateful thanks go to all the staff.
My mother was cared for at Norewood Lodge for the last three months of her life. We couldn't want for better care. Sympathetic care and understanding, it was excellent. My mother enjoyed the meals immensely, giving her pleasure and nourishment. The nursing staff were very professional, attending to her medical needs and reducing her discomfort as required. I would not hesitate to recommend Norewood Lodge.
All the staff are very helpful and have seen me through a very difficult period in my life. I will forever be grateful to them. Very highly recommend.
Moved Mum into Norewood House in June 2021. I looked at many care home in the locality and Norewood House ticked all the boxes.
Overall, a very nice home. Mum is happy here and the staff are very helpful and kind. Reception and management are always up for a chat if I have any problems with regards to Mum's health and well-being.
I am so impressed with this care home. Attention to detail is amazing. The staff are so kind and attentive to all residents. I fully recommend this care home.
The care and kindness of everyone at Norewood Lodge Care Home have been much appreciated, moving in is purely for geographical reasons.
Our mother has been a resident at Norwood Lodge for several months and she has settled in very well and feels very at home and content. The staff are very attentive and have been so lovely with her. It definitely is a great comfort to us knowing she is so happy and well cared for and we have no concerns whatsoever.
My husband was in the care home from August 2022 to February 2023. I cannot thank them enough for all the love, care and support they gave my husband and the family. Nothing seemed too much trouble and when he passed away the staff were excellent - just like family.
My Mother in law has now been in this care home for some time and I feel the need to write something about the outstanding care that she has received since she has been there. Firstly, I always receive a very warm welcome from the admin and reception team whenever I enter the building, they know me on first-name terms and are always pleased to greet me. The managers are always on hand to speak to about any concerns that we have as a family which is of great importance. The carers are lovely and can't do enough to help mum whenever she needs it, the nursing staff know mum’s current health situation inside and out and always are up to date whenever I ask them. The food is of a very high standard and always looks well presented. All the other staff I have come in to contact with have always been very pleasant and helpful and feel a great sense of a 'Team' if not family atmosphere! Overall I am very pleased that we decided to place my mother-in-law in this home and would thoroughly recommend it.
Norewood Lodge offers residents a safe environment with excellent nursing care. Rooms are spacious, well-equipped and comfortable and the home is in a lovely location with fantastic views across the Bristol Channel. Norewood was excellent at handling the Covid pandemic with a quick lockdown to keep residents safe. Like all care homes, there have been staffing issues post Covid but BUPA have worked hard to attract top-level care workers and things are improving in this area.
