View Full Details of Avon Lodge Care CentreMy dad came into this nursing home through his own choice. This was not what I wanted but I am so glad he did as in the short time he was here. He was a changed man, eating and drinking. The whole team from carers, management, maintenance etc. Nothing was too much trouble for Dad or for us as a family. We laughed and cried together each and every person went above and beyond.
My overall experience of this facility is excellent. The staff from management through to cleaners was the best. I can't thank the carers enough for the attention, care, comfort and warmth that they gave him. The medical team were on the ball with his health. Best wishes to you all.
Dad requested to come into a nursing home, I would have liked him to stay home to take care of him. I am so glad he came to this nursing home, the short time he was here they treated him with care and love. The whole team from the carers, management, maintenance etc were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for Dad and for us as a family.
The pictures of the home don't show what it really looks like inside. Most of the staff are nice but there are lots of agency men caring for the personal needs of women. We made a big mistake using this care home and need to look for somewhere that actually does care about its dementia residents. I have seen residents on the floor and had to go and get someone to help. There is very little interaction with residents as far too often there is agency staff on duty. I feel that we have made a big mistake. The amount of money being charged a month which amounts to about £18000. You would expect excellent care and compassion, this is definitely not happening. I feel I have done my mum a great injustice, who would want young men doing their personal care? Are all care homes the same!
Very nice staff and care my mum gets well looked after at all times, thanks for your loving care and nice meals and very clean home at all times and good management thanks again for all your help with Mum.
I find people here helpful and friendly and they stop me from being lonely, the carers are lovely.
Both of my parents have been residents of Avon Lodge Care Home, they have been looked after brilliantly, all the staff are happy and friendly, this in turn keeps the vibes very positive for the residents. A range of different activities are organised for the residents such as bingo, hairdressing and pamper sessions, singing, knit and natter, coffee mornings etc. Frequently I see improvements being made, such as new carpet, painting, exterior walls being jet washed, garden maintenance etc. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Avon Lodge to anyone.
My experience with Avon Lodge Care Centre is that Mum joined the home in November 2023 and has been very welcomed by everybody. The management were so productive in getting in place her room and things in order to help with her needs having Alzheimer's disease. As for the carers and nurses, they have been so friendly and helpful. We as a family have nothing but praise for all the appreciated work they give Mum. I would happily recommend Avon Lodge.
Since Mum moved into Avon Lodge Care Centre (11/01/24) she has been so much happier and looks so healthy. This care home is a lovely and warm feeling place. The staff here are very attentive, helpful and involve themselves with the residents which I feel has helped Mum become so much happier than when she lived on her own. It's a credit to the management for how they run this place and the staff.
Fantastic level of care. They really care and assist, can’t do enough for you. My father has really improved socially and mentally since being here and I couldn’t be happier. The staff are amazing and they do hourly welfare checks which has put the family's mind at ease and we are always kept in the loop.
My mother is being well looked after by the carers in the home, they are always cheerful and helpful when I ask how my mother is. Also, the nurse on duty is always willing to discuss her medication. Management has also been very helpful when I have needed to contact them. Residents in the home that I have come into contact with always look happy and cared for.
To all at Avon Lodge Care Centre, a massive thank you to you all for all of your continued kindness and care. It is with appreciation and gratitude for the way you all deal with every day issues and in the way you all deal with expertise and sensitivity for issues in other areas which are not routine. Thank you so very much again, from my family and myself.
We are very pleased with how my mother is being cared for; she is 94 years old and now needs more help than when she entered the home in November 2022. The staff are very kind to her, as she can sometimes be awkward and shout if she can't get what she wants. The staff always have time for us when we visit, and happy to discuss Mum. The home is always very clean, and the residents are kept very clean and so well looked after.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Avon Lodge for helping my friend to settle in and feel at home in the last seven months. We have found the staff to be very friendly and caring and always happy to help. The bedrooms are bright and airy and the communal sitting and dining rooms are welcoming. There are lovely activities for those who choose to participate and a well-kept garden to sit in. The meals are very good and my friend especially enjoys the afternoon tea and cake. After living alone for many years she is now enjoying the company of other residents and staff around her. For myself and her other friends, it's given us the reassurance that not only is she being well looked after but that She is happy and content. I can also take my dog in to see her which really makes my day (staff and residents give her a wonderful welcome). So well done Avon Lodge, keep up the good work!
Very pleased with all the help from the nursing staff, care staff and cleaners. All are helpful and caring.
Lovely staff. Caring, patient, friendly and always kind to residents and their families. Bright airy rooms and communal spaces. Lots of activities for residents that want to take part, and privacy for those that want to chill in their own rooms. What I love the most is that the residents pop in and chat with each other, making for a friendly community.
My husband settled into Avon Lodge quickly and he now considers it his home. This has been helped to a very large degree by the caring and friendly approach of all of the staff. He receives excellent care from skilled care providers and nursing staff and I am always kept well informed of any medical issues as and when they arise. Our primary aim when selecting a care home for my husband was that he was happy and not anxious in the home he went into and he is very happy and relaxed which means all of his family are too.
I would not recommend this as a five-star care home as when recently visiting a friend some members of staff were being very abrupt and it stands out a mile whether they are under staffed. Care and attitude and attention do stand out giving the home a different outlook to all reviews I read before a friend went there. I must say that not all staff come across in this way to be fair but when you see that end-of-life care is treated with... 'when we are all going to die' attitude does not go down well for a care home for loved ones. Seeing first hand, telling a patient in a stern manner to hold and drink from a glass to take meds when they are clearly unwell and notice on another visit a poor patient left with dinner on the table and a cup of tea. No one attends during the day, clearly left alone with no one checking or moisturiser on her mouth, who passed away the following day. I know you're not a hospice where the standard is above and beyond but with payments for homes being so high it’s been eye-opening in more ways than one.
As a family, we feel so lovely that our dad is in the care of Avon Lodge Care Centre. The staff are excellent, so kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. Dad is happy whenever we visit.
My father came here from hospital for respite. The care was such that he was well enough to go home but, due to his age and the possibility of a fall, he opted to stay as a permanent resident. My father enjoys the care and the friendly nature of all of the staff whatever their role.
