During my mum's stay at Hendra Court, I felt she was cared for with compassion and respect. As I live in Hampshire and wasn't able to visit as often as I would like, I felt confident in the knowledge that her needs were met. Nothing was too much trouble and I was always kept informed of any decisions which had to be made. Her bedroom was kept very clean and tidy and was really home from home. Everyone made my mum feel a part of their family and I would like to thank each and every member of staff for the exceptional care my mum received while she was there.
My mother, who has just had her 90th birthday celebration at Hendra Court, couldn't be in a better, more caring place. The staff are supportive and connective towards all their residents, all of whom have a spectrum of needs. All are treated as the individuals they are. All are carefully monitored as to their specific needs, and I am informed, regarding my mother, as to her care needs, and any problems that occur regarding her health. It is always a relief to know that my mother is in a safe, caring, supportive space - Hendra Court is that space.
We, as a family, are very grateful to Hendra Court who took Mum in and gave her a warm welcome when other homes refused due to some challenging behaviour in the early days. Over the years of visiting, we observed compassion and patience shown to all residents, the whole place really has a homely feel. We always appreciated how they always accommodated last-minute and sometimes surprise visits and Mum was always clean and well presented. The staff are all wonderful and we never encountered anyone who didn't have time for an update or chat or just a smiling 'Good Morning!' Throughout and especially towards the end of Mum's journey the proactive nursing care in the form of extra attention and keeping us informed was excellent. Thank you, Hendra Court!
Excellent nursing home dealing with complex residents. Well presented and staff genuinely care about residents and families, of said residents. Not a big turnover of full staff which makes continuity for residents and visitors alike great. Staff are always willing to go that extra mile and if asked to organise a birthday party etc more than happy and willing to do so. Kept informed if any accidents or medical interventions required. In the six-plus years of parent being a resident cannot praise the staff enough.
Hendra Courts staff and the service they have given to my father during his 10-month stay with them was absolutely fantastic. Not only did they look after him but extended compassion to my mum and myself on each visit. They kept me informed of all of his day-to-day circumstances when the need arose. Giving us the option to manage his care, with them, in a more comfortable environment Nothing ever seemed too much for them at any time day and night.
My brother is so much happier and feels secure and safe since he went to Hendra Court in January. Every single member of staff is so patient and happy and all of them work very hard. The grounds are lovely to sit in and it's not far from the sea.
I have my husband here, I know that to the best of all absolutely caring for him is a good standard. While sitting with him today it was a delight that he was chatty and cheerful and when the laundry person came in my husband interacted with that person being quite cheeky. Just keep up the good work. Thank you all
Hendra Court is a lovely well-run nursing home, the staff are always very caring and go above and beyond their duty to make sure the residents are cared for. The rooms are very clean and the staff always give a personal touch. The clothes are always washed to a high standard. The food is nourishing and well-presented.
Charging 1800 pounds per week is disgraceful without even being informed of the cost. I want to move my partner out of there asap. The staff are doing their best but at weekends no one answers the phone on my partner’s mobile, WhatsApp or landline. And it’s a grotty little room. I want him out of there asap. The food is basic so I bring in healthy foods. No drinking water available. He has been there 4 months and only been taken outside once for a 15 minutes walk. As for value for money it would be cheaper to go to a hotel in Dubai per week! All inclusive.
The care and attention my father received was exceptional. Whenever I visited I was greeted with a smiling face and nothing was too much trouble. Every member of staff took the time to get to know him with his personality and humour so evident. Thank you!
My father was in an unusual position where he had been arrested and charged with aggressive behaviour. He was placed at Hendra Court as an emergency accommodation for him. The staff from day one have been amazing. He has dementia and although was not in the correct environment for his conditions at this time he was there to stay for the duration of his bail. The staff treated Dad with dignity respect and care and for that, I am eternally grateful. They were very helpful to me and nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful team of very special people indeed. Thank you.
I just wanted to write in and say Thank you to you and all of the staff at Hendra, for the amazing care you always give to my husband. It's great for me to know he is safe and happy with you guys. He was so chuffed today that you all made such an effort for his birthday and was excited about his birthday tea. I really appreciate the care and devotion you all show to him. You guys are the next best thing to having him home with us. He's always clean, dry and happy when I am able to visit and tells me bits he remembers from the week, generally that have made him grin. So thank you again for doing what I couldn't anymore and making him feel at home and loved.
The care given to my mother is outstanding, nothing is too much trouble from the staff, and as a family, we are kept fully informed of her welfare all the time.
I would highly recommend Hendra Court to any relative who is making the difficult decision to increase care for a loved one. There comes a time when those suffering dementia need more specialist and individually tailored support. My mum had challenging behaviour as well as reduced mobility. Being fiercely independent, she suffered many falls. Hendra Court always sought medical advice when she was unwell and kept relatives informed. All the staff were professional and kind. Throughout her time at Hendra Court, she was treated with dignity. COVID restrictions were for the safety of all the residents and staff adhere to them. This is reassuring but also challenging. In the last few days of her life, close family were allowed to visit Mum freely, in full PPE. This enabled us to have precious time with Mum which has helped us to grieve. I will always be grateful and feel that Mum had the very best care right to the end of her life. How lucky we are to have quality care that is offered here.
My review is during the months of March and April when the home was closed during the Covid-19 crisis. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff who went out of their way to look after my husband in this worrying time. They kept in touch with me with video links and photos of him and reassured me they were all doing their best to keep him safe. I would highly recommend this home to anybody who wants the staff to look after their loved ones as though they are part of a large loving family. While I was able to visit my husband they always made me feel very welcome and I could witness the care that was given to each of the residents, the food was always prepared to the highest standard and was very tasty. The cleanliness of the home is of a very high standard and always smells very fresh with no bad odours. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before I can visit again and be part of my extended family.
A friend was fortunate to find a place at Hendra Court when she was diagnosed as having lost her mental capacity and was also suffering from a number of medical complications. I was very impressed with her room and the facilities at Hendra and the staff were very caring and helpful, without having to be asked. Unfortunately, my friend died after a short illness. Everyone at the Home was very caring and helpful both before and after her death. I have visited a number of other Homes and am pleased to report that Hendra is the best I have seen in Cornwall. Well done.
My mother was resident at Hendra Court from December ‘17 following a diagnosis of dementia and stroke. She had extremely complex needs and her physical condition deteriorated. All members of staff at Hendra were wonderful with mum. She loved the activities organised! She loved living at Hendra and I can honestly say the support given to me whilst I came to terms with her diagnosis and changing condition was amazing. Mum sadly passed away recently. The end of life care given, particularly by one member of staff was superb. The support and love from all staff made what was the hardest 48 hrs of my life so much easier than it otherwise would have been. I found this to be an exceptional nursing home that focussed care plans around individuals needs. The staff are excellent and really care about their residents. If you have to have a relative in a nursing home I would highly recommend this home.
A very welcoming and fresh environment. Very good and caring staff over the whole 6-week stay. A big thank you to everyone at Hendra Court.
Mum had dementia and spent the last few months of her life at Hendra Court. The staff always took good care of Mum and the last two days of her life the staff were amazing. They ensured Mum was comfortable. They provided food for myself and the family and they explained everything that was happening. I spent the last two nights with Mum, it was a difficult time but the staff at Hendra court made the whole experience so much easier and for that, I will always be grateful.
I moved my great auntie here in August 2017 after issues from her previous care home. From the very beginning, the manager was very welcoming, listened to my long list of issues which occurred at her previous care home and worked with me to help prevent these issues. My great auntie had Huntington's disease which is a rare genetic disease. The staff undertook training to help them to care for her and even took home reading which showed how committed they were to help provide the best care. Every aspect of my great aunties care was discussed with me. I visited the care home every week and my children regularly visited too. The staff were always very welcoming and always had the time to listen to me. I can't express how much I appreciated the care, kindness and support that was shown, not only for my great auntie but also for myself and my family too. All the staff I have dealt with have been very kind but there were two nurses who went above and beyond.
