View Full Details of Eshcol House Nursing HomeWhen I arrived at Eschol House I had a lovely greeting from the staff which put me at ease straight away, as I was very frightened and bewildered and from that day every member of staff has been absolutely brilliant and fantastic to me they cannot do enough to help me nothing is to much trouble they go above and beyond and my health is improving and it's all down to the care, help and support I'm getting from these wonderful people. I also have a lovely room with everything I need in it and feel very happy here.
My mother spent the last seven weeks of her life at Eshcol House - first on respite care, then as a permanent resident. Aged 96, her health was failing when she arrived at Eschol House but the level of care she received was excellent. The staff really care about the residents and could not have been kinder to my mother. I am sad that my mother was not able to be at Eshcol House in better health or for longer but I recommend this nursing home to others.
From the time my friend first came to Eshcol House the overall care has been excellent. All staff I have come into contact with have been both professional and friendly. Never an easy visit, but Eshcol staff make it as positive as possible. I always leave feeling assured friend is well cared for.
My mum has settled in really well at Eshcol House Nursing Home. She particularly likes how friendly the staff are and she has already made a friend with one of the other residents. She has been enjoying jigsaws and scrabble. She also appreciates having a balcony with the amazing view of Gerrans Bay which she can enjoy on fine days.
We are very impressed when we visit our good friend the home is always very clean and fresh and the staff are always very helpful and friendly.
My partner was transferred from a hospice almost 3 months ago and at that time he was very poorly, confused and immobile. The change in him since he has been receiving the amazing standards of care, and nursing professionalism, delivered to all of the Eshcol team is nothing short of miraculous. Alternative pain medication was introduced which meant he regained his personality and humour, he regained a degree of mobility which nobody believed would be possible, and for him, me our family and friends, quality time and quality of life have returned. Every member of staff from senior management, nurses, H.C.A's, chefs, housekeeping and maintenance, are kind, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and keep smiling whatever the task or challenges; (including sorting out hospital appointments and transport which is not always straightforward!) I enjoy visiting the home, and home is the right description because it feels like a family environment where I am always made welcome, and given immense help and support in navigating the care system.
This home has a wonderful view of the sea which is enjoyed from the road-side sitting room and some of the bedrooms. Lovely plants by the building too. Not all bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, but if not the nearest bathroom is easily accessible, and a wash basin in the bedroom. All the staff I have met are charming, attentive, caring, gentle and kind. Not much care parking for visitors at the front of the house.
We visit quite regularly and we are always impressed by the cleaners and how friendly and helpful the staff are.
Mum arrived at Eshcol on her 94th birthday. She was met with a cake and the staff singing 'Happy Birthday.' Mum had settled in exceptionally well and this, I think, is due to the kindness of the staff. There is always someone around, the staff know Mum and when asked, update me immediately with how she is getting on. She is well looked after and always looks clean and tidy and even more importantly happy.
My dad moved into Eschol several months ago and from the start, the staff have welcomed and cared for him extremely well. Friendly and professional they have helped him to mobilise with good humour and dignity towards his needs. It was a tricky move for dad to leave his own home but the support we have all received from the wonderful people at Eschol House has been excellent. It is good to know he is safe and looked after and always a pleasure to visit the home. Dad has a lovely sea view from his room and there are some lovely nearby places to take him out to.
Eshol House is very friendly. Easy going care home. The staff are so happy and pleased to help in any way possible.
My dad has been at Eschol for 9 months. We cannot praise them enough. He has been so happy and tended the staff are amazing. They have spent so much time with him and showed nothing but respect and dignity. He built up a lot of trust with them which for my dad is not easy. The food is fantastic, friendly chefs with varied options. I cannot praise you all enough and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you.
This care home is a small but friendly care home that cares greatly for the residents. There is nothing they cannot do to help residents acclimatise to their new surroundings.
Excellent friendly welcome. All needs are met and exceeded. Great friendly home. The staff are very knowledgeable and approachable.
The staff are friendly and very caring, they answer any concerns. Lovely clean establishment, great meals and any special requests met.
The carers and staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The room is ideal for Mum, with wonderful sea views. There are plenty of activities and a lovely garden. We are very pleased with Mum's care.
I have rung Eshcol House on 2 or 3 occasions before we came down on Monday and the staff have been so lovely and helpful. They obviously really care about our relative and know when she is feeling up to speaking, so when we came down on Monday it was obviously not a good time. She was tired and had already had a visitor. We came again on Tuesday to give some family photos and a letter and the carer suggested we look in to see if she was up to seeing us. She was, and seemed really pleased to see us so I can't thank the staff enough. They had even researched her relative's husband who she misses, so they could talk to her about him. Wonderful people and place.
The first thing that strikes you when walking into Eschol Nursing Home is what a lovely atmosphere there is. The staff are, without exception friendly and cheerful. The residents are well cared for, and there appears always to be plenty of staff around and busy. There is a pleasant lounge where residents are encouraged to partake in the plentiful activities that are on offer. Also available are activities for room-bound residents. The food is fantastic and well presented; great choices, and as many ingredients as possible locally sourced. The home is very clean and tidy too. To summarise I would like to say how happy I am to have my father staying here. When you see the whole package in operation it makes you realise that it is very good value for money. He is continually well cared for with kindness, respect and dignity. It is a joy to visit him in Eshcol, where visitors as well as residents are made to feel exceptionally welcome.
Very friendly staff. My mother-in-law was welcomed in after a fall at home. Her care was fantastic - regular Doctor visits during her recovery. Detailed updates to the family. Above all a real sense that she was welcome and her care (mental and physical) was paramount. She has a beautiful view from her room and frequent visits from staff and family. At present she is bedbound. She always seems cheerful and has no end of praise for the staff.
My mum has been living at Eshcol House for several months, and she seems happy and comfortable there. The building is a little shabby, but apart from that it's a very good care home. The important things are there - the people are kind and take time to chat with everyone. The balance between encouraging social engagement and letting people be seems about right. The only criticism I would make is that the service alarm often seems to be on for some time. Overall it has a very good feel to the place. My mum grew up in Cornwall, so having a view of the sea means a lot to her.
