My father-in-law only spent three weeks at Poldhu but was looked after very well. When he passed away, the staff treated him with dignity.
I enjoy living at Poldhu, I have been here for four years. It's a beautiful home and the staff are very good. I would highly recommend it here. There are bits and pieces that sometimes need sorting but overall I couldn't speak highly enough.
When I left the hospital with nowhere to go, Poldhu Care Home took me in and I have been welcomed every day since. There are a lot of people who don't respect we live here because we live in such a beautiful spot. The staff are absolutely wonderful, everyone from the cleaners to management.
The care home I believe takes great care of its residents who are always looking well-kept, clean and tidy. The resident's rooms are perfectly clean and well-maintained. A criticism would be the telephone answering system which can be quite slow and frustrating especially if your loved one is unwell and you are looking for an update. Other than this I believe food is very good, a new system has been put in place to give more choice for residents. Regarding activities, it would be great if there were more staff available so that residents could be taken out for a small trip, this does happen but very infrequently and I think would make a big difference. Overall I believe a good home with caring attentive staff.
The team at Poldhu have taken great care of my mother who's resided at Poldhu for 10 years now. I have every faith in the fact that every single day she is well cared for, with her best interest at heart, without a doubt. We as a family are so grateful for this and can't thank everyone enough. They have been amazing at setting up weekly video chats with my mum for the ones who live further away and therefore aren't able to visit as often as we'd like. That connection is absolutely cherished. The relationships built between the team and my mum plus with us as a family really matter to us - thank you. Would highly recommend.
As a family, we cannot thank the wonderful nurses, carers and all staff at Poldhu Care Home for the beautiful way they looked after our dad. He was treated with dignity, love care and respect every minute of the last 3 months of his life. They also took wonderful care of us as a family, nothing was too much trouble. All our love and thanks to you all.
Our very close and dear friend went to Poldhu Care Home for terminal care in October 2023. When we visited the staff were all very welcoming and cheerful to us and more to the point, gentle, kind and loving to our friend, always treating her with the respect she deserved. She was kept beautifully clean and comfortable. The staff responded quickly and efficiently when our friend needed help. It would be hard to see how she could have had better care.
I am very grateful for the care my dad received in the last seven months of his life at Poldhu. They treated him with kindness and respect and were an immense support to the family during the final days of his life.
My grandad was cared for at Poldhu for seven months until he passed away and I cannot thank the team at Poldhu enough for the care, dignity and respect they gave him. We faced many challenges but the team were supportive at every step and always had his best interests at heart. Their end-of-life care could not be faulted which they provided not only to my grandad but to every family member and friend that visited him. The support and care they gave us as a family during his last days will not be forgotten.

My auntie has been beautifully cared for at the Poldhu care home for almost the last 3 years. It’s a lovely setting there on the Cornish coast and they offer good food, warmth and entertainment for their residents. However, it is the genuine loving care and attention that every one of the staff provides that is the real attraction. They are all thoughtful, attentive, respectful and kind and happy to help in whatever role they play. Our thanks to them all for their care!
Poldhu Care Home is situated in a beautiful setting on the coast of the Lizard Peninsula. However, their greatest asset is their staff who are genuine, caring and nothing is too much trouble. I am confident that my wife who has M.S is well cared for.
My mother moved into Poldhu Care Home in June 2021. She was finding the change from leaving her own home quite challenging at first. With the help of the amazingly caring staff, she is beginning to feel more at home. She loves her room but needs encouragement to socialise with the other residents. I cannot praise the staff enough. They are all very warm and friendly. The highest praise goes to the activities person, who makes a point of including her in all the activities and getting her to leave her room to meet like-minded residents. She is now settling in well, which gives us peace of mind. The home is beautiful with stunning views!
My mother has been in Poldhu Care Home for nearly five years, she is 96 and although her memory is not as good as it was, she has reasonable mobility (now with a walking frame) and most of the time, fairly on the ball mentally. The staff are extremely kind, she is always commenting on how lovely they are to her and very caring. The last year has been difficult for us all, but the staff at Poldhu have handled the whole thing extremely professionally, keeping all infection at bay, and helping keep up the morale of their residents - not an easy thing to do in a pandemic. I know that my mother has suffered emotionally from not having contact with me or her grandchildren, and I think the staff are aware of this and do everything they can to support and help in any way they can. The management at the home are extremely approachable and willing to help in whatever way they can. In fact, the whole of the staff have to be highly commended for their work over the past year.
The Poldhu Care Home is a wonderful care home. Every single member of staff is friendly, helpful and caring. My mum is doing really well there, seems to be very happy and I can see that she is very well cared for. She has improved significantly over the months that she has been there. I would recommend The Poldhu Care Home to anyone.
The staff are always polite and friendly. They make you feel welcome. The home is always clean and tidy and the food is very good. The care that is given is second to none. Such an excellent care home.
I remember soon after my mother became a resident at Poldhu feeling the need to apologise to some other residents for what she was saying. One of the care staff was quick to reassure me and explain they were looking after her now. How well they have done that caring is evident in the affection and care staff show to her. All my family have been impressed when visiting my mum at her home. The staff have been unfailingly friendly and helpful. Currently, the home seems to have coped wonderfully and remains infection-free. We had a visit last year at the home from a visitor appointed by the legal guardian, and he commented favourably on the clear lines of responsibility and the welcoming friendly atmosphere. I should also comment on the excellent food and wonderful entertainments we have enjoyed there. My mother always said she would never go into a home but is now enjoying her fifth year there.
My mother-in-law was a resident at Poldhu from June 2019 until her death in April 2021. The atmosphere at Poldhu is very special. There's a warmth and a feeling of love when you come through the door: it feels like a family. We don’t live locally, so we were very dependent on the staff to keep us informed of how she was, particularly during the lockdown. Everyone at Poldhu is outstandingly kind, caring and respectful, and the manager was always very responsive and sensitive and did her utmost to ensure we could see my mother-in-law as often and as safely as possible. During her final days, the staff at Poldhu cared for my mother-in-law with great respect, gentleness and affection, and they could not have done more to look after and support us as a family. I couldn’t recommend them more highly to anyone looking for nursing or residential care for their loved one.
Wonderful caring staff, who interact with patients and visitors making us all feel welcome. My lovely mum seems to have settled in and made friends. Her dementia takes her off into another realm. I am rest assured that The Poldhu staff guide her.
