View Full Details of Porthgwara Nursing HomeThe staff at Pothgwara Nursing Home really make it feel like a home. They are all extremely professional but they also bring personality and character to the home. They have made dad feel welcomed and cared for and this is very reassuring to us as a family. We visit regularly and are always impressed with the resident centred approach and the relationships that staff have built with dad.
My mother used to live with us, but the responsibility was too much, as several falls, one resulting in a broken neck and dementia getting worse, it was time to look for a home. My mum has been at Porthgwara Nursing Home for nearly a year now. We are so happy and relieved she is here. All the staff are wonderful. She gets the greatest care 24 hours a day. Because the home only holds 25 residents, you get the consistency of the same staff, which is vital with my mum's dementia. We have got to know all of the staff too. We are always welcome, anytime. Our crown jewels are very well looked after.
My mum has recently died at the age of 101 after six happy years at Porthgwara Nursing Home. She has been consistently cheerful and always spoke warmly about her carers. She has had a lovely comfortable room with a view of the sea, boats and the beach. She was not always the easiest of people but mellowed and warmed and responded well to the patient and caring staff at Porthgwara. I have never felt worried for her and always had confidence in the whole team. Communication is excellent, nursing care has been fantastic but the best thing has been the warmth and genuine affection from the ordinary on the ground carers. Mum moved from being fairly active to being bedbound over several years and at every stage I had complete confidence. I can thoroughly recommend Porthgwara.
Both my parents were fortunate enough to gain a place at Porthgwara Nursing Home. I would recommend it to anyone wishing for a place that feels like home with the added benefit of caring professionals offering an excellent personalised service.
My 92 year old Mother has been at Porthgwara for 3 years now and due to their care and attention her physical ailments are well managed and cause few problems. Her room is delightful opening onto a garden, with a view across Coverack Bay. The staff are always friendly and approachable. Visiting is easy, my Mither is happy and we, her family have peace of mind.
What a wonderful place! Care and kindness towards anyone with difficult needs, nothing is too much trouble. Choice of foods, all cooked from fresh. The catering facility was clean and fresh. You name it they will provide it, even for the most difficult of appetites. Respect is shown to all patients and they are treated as individuals. A real home in every respect. Thank you Porthgwara, you all deserve a medal.
