View Full Details of Castle House Care HomeA lovely comfortable warm place for Mum with care given by lovely friendly caring staff. Lots of activities done to keep residents occupied and as active as possible. You know its a good place when Mum calls it "home"
Since my dad has been at Castle House his physical and mental health has improved beyond my hopes or expectations. He is very well fed has his meds all sorted, has companionship with the staff and other residents and there always seems so much going on. He's also now well enough to go for a walk in the town (aided by his walker) so that he can chat with locals and still peruse the local shops and market, something that has helped him to stay connected with the town and his friends. Where the home is, is vital to this. The staff and manager are exceptional and genuinely have my dad's best interests at heart and are regularly in touch with us as his family. When we pop in (anytime) we are treated as part of the family and always have a cup of tea and a biscuit or two. I am and will forever be grateful for the care and patience shown to my dad who is in the best shape he has been for a long time. Can't recommend highly enough!
Mum has only been a resident for a month but she has already settled into the warm and friendly home environment. Nothing has been too much trouble for the care team at Castle House- They were happy to spend time with me answering questions and elevating concerns I had about Mum's move. All mum's medical needs are sorted daily by the team. The meals provided are great and always served with care and attention. The atmosphere is always upbeat and I am welcome to visit at any time of day. Mum has begun to join in some of the many activities that go on in the lounge room and is enjoying her days again.
The whole team at Castle House Care Home are brilliant! They take such great care of my mother and make sure her needs are met and her interests and hobbies are catered for. It is such a comfort for our family to know that she and all the Castle House residents are so well looked after. The team treat everyone with great care, love and dignity irrespective of their needs. We are always made to feel most welcome when we visit - every time I am there some sort of event or activity is going on and everyone gets involved, including visitors when we are there! Recently when my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the whole team came in to help them celebrate with a cake, balloons, a singer to entertain us all and of course a wonderful afternoon tea.
The first thing I noticed when I visited my friend was the warm and loving atmosphere and the way the staff communicated and interacted with the residents. The kindness of the staff was outstanding and they made both the residents and their families feel safe, comfortable and at home. My friend was happy and relaxed and very content with the life she has there. A very exceptional care home.
My wife, having led a very active and full life, now relies on a care home to look after her. There are many care homes available in Devon, all of them offering very good services, but Castle House is by far and away the best one you will find! They cater for all sorts of disabilities and ailments and the management and staff look after their residents as if they were part of their own family and treat them all with loving care. The chef and her staff really look after the residents and the meals are excellent and always include known favourites, with birthdays and special occasions recognised with some form of entertainment and (of course) a home-made cake! The layout of Castle House itself is perfect. With a separate dining room and lounge overlooking a lovely, well-kept garden. The bedrooms have been well designed and contain specialist equipment (if required) for a particular resident. Thank you Castle House for looking after my wife with such loving care. You are fantastic.
What a lovely caring, clean care home. I have visited a number of times over the last year. Friendly staff, nothing it to much trouble. All the residents I have seen and spoken to look happy, clean and well cared for. I love hearing about the activities they have for the residents. Thanks to all the staff.
Everything my Mum requires. They always go out of their way whether it's for care etc. All the staff are excellent, also cleaners and handymen.
Most of all kindness is above all things, great care and passion. Makes us all happy with old age.
After a long and timely process of searching for the right home for my dad, the moment we walked through the front door we knew we had found the ideal place. This home has a lovely, friendly atmosphere, nothing is too much trouble. We and, most importantly, Dad are so pleased that he is in a safe and happy environment where nothing is too much trouble. Thank you so much to everyone at Castle House Care Home for making us all feel so welcome.
The whole team at Castle House Care Home are absolutely fabulous, and takes care of our mum so well. I know that all residents are looked after with care, love and dignity irrespective of their needs. The team always do so much for all the residents and there is always some sort of event or activity going on and everyone gets involved, including us when we are there, singing, bingo, quizzes and crafts! Our whole family are massively reassured that our dear mummie is being cared for in such a lovely place and we are always made to feel welcome whenever we visit, they even put on a special meal for us over Christmas so we could spend time together as a family, and nothing is too much trouble.
After Mum was no longer able to live on her own she moved to Castle House Care Home. We were initially concerned because she had always been such an independent lady although dementia was beginning to affect her. However, we need not have worried because she soon settled in, was very comfortable and enjoyed the company of the other residents and staff. Castle House is an old property but all the more comfortable for that. It is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The manager and all her staff have always been so kind and caring and have gone out of their way to help when it was needed. We are so thankful that Mum was so well looked after in her final years.
The closing years of a person's life are never easy and for my cousin to do this in the comfort and dignity afforded by Castle House Care Home was everything her family and friends could wish for. The concern shown for my cousin's physical well-being was always apparent, her personal cleanliness and the cleanliness and safety of her surroundings being always of a high standard. More than that, however, was the gentleness and friendship shown to my cousin at Castle House. These are attributes that cannot be made and for my cousin to enjoy them as she did clearly shows the natural sympathy, empathy and kindness of those at Castle House. The family have much to thank those at Castle House for and wish all the very best for the future.
Having made the hard decision to move my father into care in June, I settled on Castle House Care Home. From day one they made me feel at ease and confident that I had made the right choice for Dad. The move was more unsettling for Dad than I had anticipated, but all the staff were so patient with him and kept me informed every step of the way. They have been very accommodating of my need to see Dad often and have always been so cheerful and positive, even when I know that Dad has properly tested them! A really lovely feel in the home every time I visit and all the other residents seem so happy. Highly recommended.
All the staff were very welcoming and met my grandad's needs 100%. My grandad has met some lovely new friends which he still talks about. My grandad has had some lovely memorable experiences at Castle House (particularly the singing and singers). All staff like to know my grandad's individual needs and interests thus building a secure relationship with him. As a result, my grandad always felt safe and at home. I would not hesitate to recommend Castle House. Staff and management go above and beyond to meet the needs of my grandad. All staff are very good at keeping all our family members up to date with what has been happening that day and if my grandad needs anything. The first time that my grandad visited Castle House was just after my Nan died. At this sad time, my grandad's mental health was very low. However, the staff and other residents all pulled together to give comfort to my grandad at this sad time.
I cannot fault Castle House Care Home, everything is professional and run by management and staff who are caring loving responsible people and we feel my wife’s mother is in the best possible care.
My Mum is 94 and although still living independently in her own home, she attends the Castle Care Home new "drop-in activities day". She has experienced many different things such as art, a mother’s group who bring in their young children for interaction, a singing day and a saxophonist. As a non-resident, she has always been greeted with a warm welcome from both residents and staff and I have been welcome to stay with my mother to make sure she is happy. Lunch, teas and cake are provided. She always comes home smiling and happy and has enjoyed her day. Currently, in her life she sometimes gets forgetful and a bit confused, the training and dementia knowledge at Castle Care Home is excellent and I feel comforted to leave my mother in their care knowing their clients are their top priority. I would, without hesitation, recommend Castle Care Home in Torrington to anyone who is thinking of care for their elderly relatives.
Mum is happy, especially as she said that she would never go in a home. She is always ready to praise the staff and often mentions that she is well looked after. I'm happy that mum is cared for and that she is content.
I'm happy to be here and confident that the staff have my best interests at heart.
My mother-in-law is kept clean and happy. The staff do care that they do a good job.
