View Full Details of Park Lane Care HomeI recently persuaded my 96-year-old father to go into a care home for respite whilst I went into hospital for an operation. Firstly the manager and assistant manager with whom I arranged this were both lovely, really helpful and understanding. They provided the best introduction to the daunting process of having to arrange for an elderly relative to go into a care home; they were kind, professional and approachable. They set the tone and then every other member of staff was equally as caring and professional. I had no qualms about leaving my father in their care, it is an exceptionally good home, it feels very safe, and it has an atmosphere of calm at all times. My very anxious father always seemed calm and relaxed there. He even praised the staff, and the food, and praise from him is rare indeed! He put on weight whilst there, all of his visitors remarked upon how well he looked. I was so impressed and am so grateful to the whole team there for providing such very excellent care.
Mum has been a resident in Park Lane for two years suffering from dementia. I am soon moving to North Yorkshire to be with my grandchildren. My brothers have both lived in the USA for years. Dad died 2 years ago. Mum will not have any family nearby however I will be returning frequently to see her. Making this decision has been very difficult but Mum is very happy and settled, it would be cruel to take her with me and find another home which would be comparable with Park Lane. The care Mum receives is outstanding. I am in the position to use this term as I am a very senior emergency nurse. The home is spotless, Mum has put on weight due to the standard of food. Her appearance is always dignified with outfits chosen with care. Her room is ensuite, again always clean. The staff always are genuinely caring. Mum gets aggressive, they diffuse her temper with kindness and tea. Their communication with both brothers and myself again nothing is too much trouble. Outstanding care home.
We could not have wished for better end of life care for dad. All the staff without exception were respectful, caring and professional. They made sure that dad’s final days were peaceful and calm. Their attitude of care permeated throughout all staff levels and they worked as a close team to provide support to the family. We cannot thank them enough.
My mother has always said she would never want to spend time in an old peoples home. So after a carefully worded conversation, she agreed to stay for a week's respite in a 'lovely place where the staff are caring, great food is served and you get a comfy bed to sleep in. She was looked after in every way imaginable, enjoying conversation with residents and staff, a most welcome visit to the hairdresser and plenty of rest. On returning home mum declared that she would be happy to return as it wasn't a bit like an 'old people's home'! The other residents seemed happy and comfortable, the staff were cheerful, kind and respectful at all times and the place is spotless.
My mother was a resident of Park Lane until her death in February 2019. Staff were outstandingly caring and compassionate, particularly leading up to her passing. However, throughout her stay there was almost continuous piercing noise throughout the building caused by residents alarms. I think it is vitally important that a less intrusive way to alert staff to residents needs is found. It affects both staff and residents. Nevertheless, both myself and her family appreciated the many positive aspects of the home.
My brother was only here for a few weeks but having resisted going 'into a home' he realized he could no longer cope at home. From the first day, he was made to feel welcome and very soon settle to his new way of life. The place was spotless and staff pleasant and friendly. Somebody popped in to see he was alright regularly. We found staff ready to talk, ask and answer questions readily.
After living a very independent life my father, at the age of 96, became a resident at Park Lane. nursing home. The care he received from all the staff was brilliant, each and everyone gave him the care and attention he needed. They even take their time to look after any visitors family and friends, nothing is too much trouble. Sadly my father passed away recently but I know, in the last few months of his life, he received love, care and attention he needed. Even in his final hours, we received the help and support from all staff making this time a little easier.
All the staff are very kind and approachable and they are all very caring. The staff create a very happy atmosphere in the home.
The care provided is excellent with good staff numbers. The home is well decorated and very clean.
The home is clean and well decorated to a good standard with pleasant outlooks. The staff on reception are always welcoming and friendly, as are the rest of the care staff. I sit with my mother regularly in the lounge and it is quite apparent that all the clients are well looked after and treated with dignity, compassion and humour. The food is good and well presented and there is always staff available to feed those who cannot manage for themselves. Special diets and foods are also catered for. There are also good activities and entertainment. I know if I have any worries or problems I can easily discuss them with the nurses.
My husband has been a resident for 8 months and I have nothing but praise for the care he has been receiving 24/7. The staff have been exemplary in their care and it's very clear to see how many genuinely care for the residents.
It was with tremendous relief that my mother after being removed from her own home for her own safety has settled so well in the above home. The care and professionalism in the way she is looked after is second to none. I can't speak more highly of the way she is looked after by all the staff. I am kept informed of any health issues that mya arise and we are made welcome when we visit her. this is a highly recommended care home. Oustanding!!
I spent one week at Park Lane Care Home for rest and recuperation and was greeted most kindly on arrival. The staff were cheerful and ready to make everyone comfortable. I was impressed and it soon became apparent that I was a fish out of the water as I am fortunately in possession of my faculties and without my Ipad Kindle would have been no stimulation apart from chats with the staff. Park Lane proved to be good for my rest and recuperation. I left in better shape than on my arrival. Thank you all.
My father was in Park Lane Care Home in Barnstaple from they 7th November until he passed away on the 3rd December he received quality care which in one word is outstanding. My grateful thanks to all the staff there.
I am updating the review as there have been changes to the facilities and even though they were excellent before, they are even better now! I have been looking around at other homes for another family member but sadly they cannot afford the fees here as they will be state funded. This has been a real eye-opener. I have seen homes where I wouldn't let an animal sleep in, let alone a vulnerable person and it's so hard not to compare to Park Lane as it really is so lovely! Everything from the food, to the staff, to the overall feeling is simply second to none. Nan is still so happy here and thanks to the care of ALL the staff long may it continue!
