View Full Details of Vale View Heights Care HomeMy mother has just arrived at Vale View Heights for care due to dementia. Such an amazing place. The staff couldn't be kinder and so caring. Nothing is too much for them. Mum is happy, smiling and feeling at home, enjoying the wonderful activities fabulous food and the caring that is offered. Thank you to all the staff and management for all your dedication, care and love you give to all.
We were very pleased with the care and consideration shown to my cousin during his three-and-a-half years in your care. He was well-fed, clean and entertained to the level which suited his dementia. His room was light and airy overlooking the garden. On the downside the carpet was very stained and dirty looking, not at all hygienic. The other complaint does not refer to Vale View Heights. My cousin was paying for full nursing care and a good room at considerable cost. You would not however deduct his NHS contribution from his fees so in effect he was being overcharged. Not good.
My wife was only there for two months. She seemed happy and was looked after very well. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
My Mum has been in the home for nearly five years. We have seen lots of changes and the new décor is such an improvement. Looks like a well-cared-for home. The management and staff are always polite and helpful. The home always rings me if there is a problem or any concerns they have. The activities are excellent and she joins in as much as possible. She is never in her room and stays with everyone else in the lounges all day. She is very happy there which as a family is most important to us.
I came here rather hurriedly from hospital because they needed my bed for a more urgent case. Food excellent. Carers very efficient and kind. Everywhere very clean. Owing to shortage of staff the waiting line after pressing the button can be quite long! Nobody's fault! I do like a saucer with a cup of tea or coffee. Bed and pillows not very comfortable but maybe I am biased because my father was the company secretary at a company that makes beds!
Mum has been in Vale View Heights while Dad had a hip operation. She has MS and needed quite a lot of care. The care home has been fantastic. Mum has enjoyed her stay and has said how lovely all the staff and carers have been to her. It is like a family environment which is comforting to know. Mum's stay had to be extended because Dad had problems and the home was so helpful and accommodating regarding our needs. It will be sat to leave.
The main impression is of a happy and well run care home with excellent staff. There is a varied range of fun activities for the residents, with plenty of help for those needing assistance to fully participate. With at least one nurse on site 24/7, the residents and family have reassurance that should the need arise, help is at hand. Overall the quality of care is excellent.
I found the home was like a home from home, from management to all of the staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Always made to feel welcome and everyone spoke to you.
After a disappointing start, things have improved a lot. My husband seems to have settled well. The management and staff are very helpful, caring and kind.
We visit every evening and staff are always polite and friendly and if you have a problem you will always find someone to talk to. Our relative always gets good care and staff are polite, although sometimes there's a language barrier, but this is to be expected. We would recommend Vale View Heights and over the latter months it has improved. Overall, happy with management, staff and home.
The registered manager and her new team have truly excelled and turned Vale View Heights around! When my aunt arrived, the lack of communication was awful and we had concerns over staff and the care provided, this was a year ago onwards. Since the registered manager's arrival, things have really turned around, she communicates well and sorts out quickly any concerns. The activity team, nursing staff and kitchen all seem most efficient and friendly too. Thank you very much.
The management and activities staff are excellent. The caring staff treat my husband with care, consideration and dignity at all times. Sometimes there are not enough staff to answer the call bells immediately. There are some very challenging residents who are treated with patience and understanding. The actual property is a little tired but improvements in the building and decor are being made to enhance the ambience. Food is consistently good and well presented.
My wife has been in this home for about nine months. Beautiful environment, lovely gardens and really nice views. Never met the previous manager, but the new manager has their 'finger on the pulse', meeting residents and being really involved in moving the home forward. Really nice staff, carers and nurses. Haven't come across another nursing home as good as this one.
Mum seems to be happy with every member of staff that enters the room, does not shy away, a very important issue for her and my state of mind when a relation enters a home. If I have ever had to ask about her welfare/illness, she has been dealt with immediately and everything explained to me. I think TV, as Mum is bedridden, could be on as she is deaf and moving pictures are at least something to see and I think she could be encouraged to drink more.
All of the care staff are extremely professional and hard working. They combine professionalism with kindness, friendliness and cheerfulness. Nothing is too much bother for them. My room was extremely comfortable with an en-suite and balcony, benefitting from spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The food menu offered a good variety of nutritious meals with generous portions and there was always fresh fruit available for dessert. The room was kept thoroughly clean and my clothes and bedding were laundered daily. Nursing staff were extremely efficient and dispensed my medication at the right time.
I was very pleased with the care my uncle received at this care home. The staff were caring and friendly and I like to think they became part of his extended family. I was kept informed of all aspects of his care. Thank you.
My mother has been at this care home for 2 and a half years. She has found all the staff and carers helpful and very caring. The home seems able to keep the same carers which helps to make it feel more like home and a caring atmosphere. She has a lovely room overlooking the garden but they can't all have such good outlooks. Was able to bring her own pieces of furniture and her own pictures were put up very quickly which helped her to settle in. Her birthday was remembered and celebrated well by the staff.
This care home is the most wonderful Sidmouth treasure. I have never met such truly caring, happy staff. It has a ripple effect. They are incredible - nothing is too much trouble to keep my sister well, smiling and contented. Believe me, this takes some doing sometimes. I can't tell you how much we (my husband and I) value the visitor's room. Just to be able to see and hear my sister does us all the power of good. Knowing we can share these incredibly important times and laugh with each other, definitely brightens everyone's day. It's amazing and proves that it can be done in these desolate times, to keep residents, staff and relatives safe from Coronavirus. Just huge, heartfelt thanks to you all. You are truly an inspiration and an example of excellence.
My aunt celebrated her 80th birthday in August and we were able to watch her being helped to open cards and presents through the glass screen of the visitors' room. Bearing in mind visits are 45 minutes, staff had taken the trouble to decorate the room on her side with a birthday banner, balloons and flowers. Then a cake was brought in with 80 on it and staff sang with us on their side of the glass. It was lovely and much appreciated. (Unfortunately, we weren't allowed any of the cake). When the time was up there was no rushing. We kept to time but without feeling pressured. The genuine care and interest in the resident were very apparent. Thank you all.
My sister has been a resident of this care home for the past 5 years. She is 88 years old and suffers from Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. Very fortunately in September 2019, the ownership changed hands (in the previous 12 months the quality of care had seriously deteriorated) but in the past 12 months, the standard and level of care have improved greatly. Communication with relatives is excellent....this has been most important during the Covid crisis. There appears to be more accountability, teamwork, training and supervision of staff with much attention being paid to ensuring residents are seen as individuals and just not just another number. Enquiries are dealt with in a warm and professional manner and although currently, visiting is restricted, the new refurbished 'protected' visitors room provides a practical, safe and friendly environment for relatives to meet their loved ones. I would now be very pleased to recommend this care home to friends. A very caring community.
