This is an excellent Care Home it's got in-house physio and the doctor goes and sees the patients once a week, which I think is amazing.
I have been visiting a friend at Tyspane for a few weeks. The home has a welcoming feel from the minute you walk through the door. I sat with my friend in the lounge and the activities offered were amazing. It was very clean and smelt fresh. The staff were very helpful and I was offered coffee and delicious cake. I had a lovely conversation with the manager, she was very approachable and informative. I would definately recommend this home.

On a recent visit to the Tyspane Care Home in Braunton, North Devon to see a friend who was a resident, I was very impressed by what I saw. First Impressions. The main reception area was very well set out making me feel I was visiting a hotel. I was met by a member of staff who asked me who I had come to see and asked me to sign in. I was shown to my friend's room, which was very well set out and felt very homely, lovely and warm. Having spent time with my friend I asked a member of staff if I could see the manager or assistant manager. I was able to speak to the assistant manager who was so professional in every way and made sure that our conversation was confidential and that any concerns I might have had were explained. I also was able to speak to the senior carer looking after my friend that evening. There was a really good feel to the home, all the staff are professional in their approach and look happy. A well-run home, all credit to the manager, assistant manager and staff
Such a warm, friendly welcome from reception and being shown to the room, very comfortable, clean and bright, my friendly felt like a weight had been lifted from her. Nothing was too much trouble, all the staff that came in her room told her their names. The manager came in to see if she was settled and her needs all taken care of. A big thank you to all. Kind regards.
I have co-power of attorney for a friend who has now been at Barchester Tyspane Care Home for five months. She settled in well and I found that the staff were always on hand to answer any questions we had on any subject. Her room is comfortable and well-furnished with a nice view of the garden. I imagined that she would spend most of her time in her room because she values her privacy but, in fact, she has loved going to the lounge during the day and participating in the various social activities. On my most recent visit, there was an opera/classical singer who put on a fabulous show. My friend looked so happy and was singing along. The staff served food and refreshments during the performance and engaged with all the residents, singing or dancing with them and making it a really special event. This is the norm for the staff - nothing seems too much trouble and they look to engage at all times. My experience of the management, admin, reception and nursing/care staff has been extremely good.
Mum was well cared for and very content during her stay at Barchester Tyspane Care Home. Having been in for a respite fortnight she soon realised that being home alone with intermittent carers was not what she wanted. She needed security and company which she had in abundance plus continually smiling faces from the staff. After approximately three weeks, Tyspane was referred to as home. Thanks to all the staff.
The staff at Tyspane provided outstanding end-of-life care to my father. The home itself is set in beautiful well-maintained grounds that are fully accessible. It is clean, light and airy. They went over and above to meet the needs of my father, in terms of personal care, eating and drinking and managing his medication. All of the staff were warm, friendly, compassionate and welcoming. Though Dad was only there for the last few months of his life, he truly thought he was at home. The communication with the nursing staff was excellent, and they were respectful, sympathetic and supportive of my family when my father sadly passed away. I can not recommend or indeed thank them enough for all they did for my dad. We feel great comfort knowing that Dad was well cared for and comfortable until the very end.
Lovely friendly environment to visit. Smiling, bubbly staff that make guests and residents feel welcome. Plenty of interactive activities that stimulate the residents. Beautiful gardens to stroll or sit in. Tyspane is about treating people as individuals. Plenty of choices to mix with others or have your own space.
For the first time since Mom had lived with us, I looked for respite care in order that my husband and I could take a holiday. We visited Barchester Tyspane Care Home to look at the facilities and were immediately impressed with the home, its staff, the facilities and left in no doubt that this would be where Mom would be happy to stay. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay there and will be happy to stay again. Lovely, caring staff.
The staff at Tyspane are excellent, so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The activities team are amazing; they have boundless energy and enthusiasm, and put in so much effort to provide a wide range of activities to suit all interests. They are to be commended. Their social media page is updated daily and is a wonderful way for family to stay involved and see what Mum has been up to!
The care home is very welcoming and friendly. On occasion, food could do with being more desirable and afternoon tea a bit more of an offer to residents in their rooms.
Hi, The caring, management and whole team at Barchester Tyspane Care Home have been superb in looking after my mother at Braunton. They are always under pressure from residents and no doubt family members and visitors but are always respectful and considerate. I often arrive at odd times and mealtimes when in the area or passing and they accommodate me and Mum's needs with no hesitation. How they manage to remain calm at all times is difficult to reconcile. The organised events are varied and well thought through too. A big thanks to all. Best wishes.
I arrived at the Care Home after having a bypass surgery in London. I needed aftercare as I live alone, and Tyspane Care Home had a good reputation and would be a good place to convalesce for two weeks. I extended my stay for another week. I elected to self-care and to look after my own medication. I found it really helpful that I was able to look after myself but staff around if needed. The physio is a great help to get any heart and pulse working under control and gives me the confidence to return home.
Over the last 12 months, I have seen and felt really positive improvement in Mum's care. I now cannot fault the care that she receives at all. The staff are lovely and kind to Mum and welcoming to us when we visit. The home is super clean, and the food is really good. A special thank you to the entertainment team, their care and the events they put on for the residents are just so special. I watch my mum come alive as she hears her favourite music, as do many others. Thank you.
Staff and care very good. Accommodation and food more like good hotel.
Very impressed with the care of my friend. Especially when some friends and family needed a meeting with a resident - excellent service and hospitality from the home, who were very helpful. My friend particularly enjoys the activities.
My mother stayed at Barchester Tyspane from March 2020 until November 2023 when she sadly died. The staff were exceptional - patient, caring, and attentive, they always went the extra mile. My mother was so well looked after, the staff sat by her bed feeding her and making sure she always drank enough. The food was always made to my mother's wishes to ensure she always ate it. I would thoroughly recommend Tyspane to anyone else.
My mother stayed at Tyspane for three weeks during October and November until she sadly died. I found the staff to be caring and attentive. The food was excellent. On my mum's birthday, Tyspane provided a birthday tea free of charge for eight of us, which was a delight for my mum, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend Tyspane to anyone else.
