View Full Details of Cann HouseI went into Cann House in October 2022, while awaiting a care package. I left on 6th April 2023. It started off okay, I didn’t always get a wash, at one time it was 3 days before I even got a wash. I’m bed-bound, I couldn’t get it myself, and sometimes I was left with no water and no pad change. In almost 6 months I was in Cann House, I only had a bath 3 times, which was not good enough. Why do Team Leaders give out the meds, they have no training. At times there are dogs being walked around the place, is it bring your dog to work day? They spend more time walking their dogs about than they do working. I spent over 30 years in the Royal Navy. I have never had a complaint against me. My family complain to CQC and Safeguarding about my lack of care. The home manager asked me to leave the home as my family dared complain. We did complain about a few members of staff who was very rude to myself and my wife. It was all put in writing, nothing was done about it. Why is the Chapel full of rubbish? I missed going to church.
My dad was having end of life care at Cann House and my family and I cannot thank the owner and staff enough for the exemplary care he received. Nothing was too much trouble and he was treated with dignity and kindness throughout. Special thanks to the director, the care manager, the helpers and the nurse. Thank you for holding our hands through this difficult time.
I was a patient at Cann House nursing home for about six months and in that time I got to know the staff. In my personal opinion, they are the kindest, caring, understanding girls, I have had the privilege to meet. From night staff to the laundry girls, cooks, nurses, cleaners but most of all the care assistance. I think the management should be really proud of the staff they have, and look after all of them. These girls helped me to be the person I am today and they will always be in my heart. Thank you so much.
A fantastic care home, with lovely caring professional staff. It's not an easy decision to make picking a care home. I picked Cann House after viewing a lot of others. I felt the feel and surroundings suited my dad. I would recommend anyone to view as many homes as possible and go with gut instinct. Since being here my father has settled and joins in with the many activities that are provided. All his needs are being met and after a severe stroke, there are many.
My dad lived here for 18 months. We raised a concern to CQC. I agree wholeheartedly with the new CQC report. Some of the staff were excellent. The manager was the main problem. Hopefully, now there is a new manager in place and things will improve.
My mum was admitted for end of life care. The staff were absolutely amazing. I cannot even begin to say how impressed, we as a family were with their loving care towards my mum. Sadly mum passed away this week. We would never have been able to cope without them. We would definitely recommend this home for anybody needing a friendly, kind and supportive environment.
Mum was admitted at 10pm - disturbing her room mate. I visited several times. When I asked mum's nurse to help me find a wheelchair a patient called to her and the nurse rolled her eyes up begrudging and went to attend her first. This same nurse was on the reception desk when I got my mum out - she said she wished she could leave too! I overheard other carers complaining about a patient, blaming her for wetting the bed. I saw carers sitting on mums room mates bed grumbling about wishing to go home. The social worker had to toilet the room mate as her emergency bell went unanswered. Another nurse was completely unhelpful when I questioned mistakes in mums medication - just told me to ring her GP. Mum died 3 days after leaving the home - another massive stroke. I think she would have been safer at home.
