View Full Details of The Cedars Nursing HomeMy father despite being terminally ill-health has improved his quality of life since being at The Cedars. He is being extremely well looked after and treated with complete dignity. He's clean and tidy at all times, as is his room, we are made to feel very welcome as well.
My mother continues to receive excellent care from attentive staff, in homely surroundings. As her son, I have a good rapport with all the staff and am kept aware of her ups and downs regularly, as well as any changes to her medical needs. Although mum cannot communicate verbally, she does smile and laugh when the fancy takes her.
Most impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness and efficiency. I am also most impressed with the stimulation of music afternoon in which most residents participated.
I consider we have been very lucky getting a place for my husband in this lovely nursing home, while it may not be perfect it reaches most expectations. I know my husband is as happy as you could be when living in The Cedars.
Good security on arrival and atmosphere. Made welcome, taken in by nurse in the lift, I have mobility issues. My friend was in a lovely bright room. Staff came in to check all was we and if anything was needed.
My mother has been resident at the Cedars for the last three years and in that time has always been treated with dignity and respect. The carers are amazing and always show care and compassion to my mother. I know I can drop in anytime and will find a warm welcome from ALL the staff, the office, the nurses, the carers, the activity staff, the cooks, the house supervisors, the cleaners, the maintenance guys. They are the backbone of this wonderful care home. Although my mother’s health is deteriorating I know she couldn’t be in a better place.
My father was moved to Cedars Nursing Home from Castle Hill House when he needed more nursing care as his condition worsened. This could have a traumatic move but was handled with the utmost care and kindness. He was nursed with skill and diligence and his end of life care was superb. As a family we were given understanding, kindness and respect. He died with dignity. Thank you.
The carers do a very good job but the management is poor. Three times this year I have turned up for a meeting to be told the person I came to see is off sick. It would be nice to be called or emailed to tell me the meeting has been cancelled so I don't have to take a day off work.
The room is always clean and tidy. Bedding and outfits are kept very clean which is nice to see.
My mother has been treated at all times with dignity and kindness. She is receiving better personal care than before and is clean, sweet smelling and warm. She cannot have whole food and feed herself and is fed with care and patience. I am always made welcome and pop in and out at any time. Even though she is not able to fend for herself, the staff make sure she gets some time in the lounge so she has the stimulation she needs. I am so glad I found this home and they were able to accept her after her previous home closed. The support staff are lovely too.
They do try hard to provide a good and caring service under difficult circumstances. They are hampered with the usual care home problem of enough qualified staff. Everywhere we have tried has suffered to some degree with this problem. Its a very hard job to care for elderly people so will never be an attractive career move. To err on the side of safety they insist on giving my mother pureed food, which she hates, but this is no reflection on the quality of the food. Mum also loves being outside in the fresh air which flies in the face of keeping old people in the warm confines of the home.
The staff at The Cedars are kind, compassionate and welcoming.
My mother has been at Cedars for several months and has received very good care is treated with respect, kindness and dignity. She if safe and given good personal care. Sadly the carers do no have enough time to sit and talk to her for long, she's bedridden and doesn't get to the lounge. Recent management changes have not been popular with the staff, I find the staff friendly and cheerful.
