View Full Details of Forest Hill House Nursing HomeI am very pleased with all the staff at 'Forest Hill' on how they look after my very sick mother. The total dedication of all the nurses and sisters in the care and respect for my mother. Also all the hard work of those people such as cooking, cleaning, coffees etc. I never have any worries about my mother's welfare when I am not present.
The staff at Forest Hill House are exemplary. There was nothing they wouldn’t do to ensure Mum’s health and happiness during her time there. During the last few days of her life, my brother and I and my sister-in-law were always met with welcoming faces and kind words, and we could see how they too were affected by Mum’s recent passing. I live 200 miles away from Dorset, and I always found the Nourish Family Portal very informative and it eased my mind to see the level of care Mum received 24/7. We will never, ever, forget the dignity and respect shown to Mum and to us. Thank you once more for looking after Mum so well.
My husband has been a resident of Forest Hill House for over two years. His welfare and well-being are my top priority. I am extremely grateful for Forest Hill House. Searching for a care home is often done when your energy level is at its lowest and navigating this decision can feel like a minefield. When researching any home reading the Care Quality Commission ratings is a must. Every person I have had contact with at Forest Hill House, from top management, the nursing team, support staff, activities coordinators, cooks and general cleaners could not leave me with a better impression. They are caring, friendly, professional, and very understanding. None of us want to be in the position we find ourselves in now. One blessing, and I mean a real blessing, can be finding a nursing home where you know there is quality care and enjoyment of life. My experience tells me that Forest Hill House will not disappoint. I give Forest Hill House my highest recommendation.
My mother went to Forest Hill directly from the hospital following a fall in March 2022 and from the moment she arrived the whole team treated her with care and respect. There was nothing they wouldn't do to help her settle in and to ensure as her daughter I was kept fully informed of how she was which was a great relief. I always felt very welcome when I visited and nothing was too much trouble. Mum passed away in September 2023 having been on end-of-life care. The dignity and care all the staff provided her was excellent and I never felt she was alone. The support they gave me was also really appreciated, I felt I was among friends. Forest Hill is a lovely home and I would recommend you take a visit if you are looking for somewhere caring.
Beautiful arts and crafts manor in 15 acres of wildlife grounds and woodland, numerous sitting areas - could not be better. Excellent caring staff at all levels, friendly and helpful - interested in their residents. Great contact with families. As a formed SPSW homes liaison office and inspector, and relative, Forest Hill House can't be bettered.
My mother-in-law has been at Forest Hill for some time, and her care needs are met to an extremely high level. They are managing the covid guidelines very efficiently and enabling my father-in-law to visit his wife in a safe and calm manner. The staff are all very knowledgeable and caring. We would highly recommend Forest Hill to others!
Mum is very happy here. All the staff I have had contact with show great empathy and understanding of my mother's needs. The home has a strong family atmosphere and the quality of care is second to none. A good range of activities is provided to engage the residents.
My mother has been in Forest Hill House for just over two months. During that time, she has been looked after so well. The staff are brilliant, so helpful, friendly and cheerful. The accommodation is lovely, with beautiful gardens and surroundings. Mum tells me she has settled in really well and the food is lovely. She said the staff are wonderful. I am so glad that we chose Forest Hill House as it has a real homely atmosphere. Mum had taken part in several activities which at the age of 97-years is brilliant.
This is an amazing home from home for the residents, most of whom like my mother can do nothing at all for themselves. Sadly after her stroke we as a family found ourselves in the unenviable position of having to look for a nursing home for my mother. We couldn’t believe what a gem of a home we found here. The staff go over and above the caring role that we expected even to the point of offering support to me when I had the upsetting task of having to let my mother go into care. The level of care she needed was beyond what we as a family could do. It doesn’t matter what time of day we go in to visit or what staff are on duty at the time, the welcome and care they give is always of the same high standard. There is always a buzz about the place and you get the feeling that this is a home for living life as full as you can, not just waiting to die.
My mother received excellent end of life care in the short time she was at Forest Hill House. The management and staff not only gave my mother great care but also looked after myself and my family too. Nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend Forest Hill House!
I met both day and night staff during the end of life care of my mum. The staff were fantastic and myself and my family were impressed with the little details of care they showed as well as general care. I would highly recommend Forest Hill and thank the staff from all our family.
My wife spent the last days of her life in Forest Hill Home and she could not have been in a better place. The staff were fantastic and so caring in all aspects. I would recommend this nursing home to anyone who has to put a loved one into care.
When I left my mother at Forest Hill House I felt very guilty at handing her care to strangers. However, this feeling of guilt soon went when I visited her and saw the amount of care and love the staff gave her. At the beginning, she was a difficult person to look after, but the staff (all of them) carried out their duties and care without fault. As she settled down in her new surroundings the staff became her new friends and family. When my mother passed away (3/9/19) is was a great help to be amongst friends.
My husband was cared for at this home for 10 weeks with MND. My mother has been in the home since October 2017, she is 95, blind, incontinent, unable now to do anything for herself. This is a cosy home where carers are on the floor, caring, wonderful people who truly do their best from the heart to care for those in their charge whatever the problem might be.
My mother has thrived since moving to Forest Hill House. She is always happy and contented. The staff are fantastic and support the wonderful family atmosphere. Whether you are a relative or resident, the friendly welcome is always there. In addition to the work of the carers, the support shown by nursing staff and management is second to none, The activities provided are stimulating and Mum cannot wait to tell me what they have done. I am happy that Mum's care is in safe hands and would recommend this nursing home to anyone.
The staff provide a consistently high level of care for my dad. They are always friendly when I visit and make time to speak to me about my dad's care.
I cannot recommend Forest Hill House highly enough. They were superb and they looked after Mum and Dad with the greatest care and consideration. Truly wonderful people. Thank you all.
Dad spent the last 20 months of his life at Forest Hill until his peaceful death just before his 99th birthday. Before then he lived in our family home alone since Mum's death 10 years ago. The moment Dad arrived he was wheeled to the dining room for a hot meal which was a perfect start for a sailor who had served throughout the 2nd World War and had never lost his appetite. During his time there, Dad flourished with the routine, care and activities (particularly music and dancing). From our viewpoint, it was reassuring that Dad was being looked after by skilled care, medical and domestic staff. They all adored him and always had a cheery word for him. He, in turn, always responded. For his 98th birthday party, the cook baked a wonderful chocolate cake which was enjoyed by everyone from Dad to his 3 great-grandchildren. The only slight negative was that laundry sometimes failed to be returned to the correct wardrobe. However, this never impacted on the quality of life that Dad enjoyed.
