View Full Details of Drumconner Home BournemouthDrumconner is an excellent care home. The building itself is more like a hotel, and the staff are brilliant. With an excellent entertainment program and great food, it is a proper "home" for the residents. As a relative, we can be as involved as we like, and we are kept fully informed about our loved ones. The manager, nursing, care and admin staff are all fantastic and committed to continuous improvement. Having experienced other care homes, I am so glad that my step-mother is at Drumconner.
My father moved into Drumconner Bournemouth three years ago. From the onset, he has had exceptional outstanding care! As a former healthcare professional myself, I found it extremely difficult to find somewhere that would meet my father’s needs. He has complex communication issues and needs a lot of support. Drumconner has been a fantastic place for us as a family and my dad's needs. It has allowed us all to live our lives, knowing he is taken care of in such a wonderful way and the home can communicate with him just as I do. He and I are involved in all aspects of his care. Not only do they support my father, they support me as well which has been a godsend since my mother died. The home is run by a very supportive manager and senior nursing team. The food here is absolutely world-class with local meat coming from the butcher and cheeses coming from the local pantry in the village. Thank you for such wonderful care and service.
The staff at Drumconner are friendly and caring people. Whenever aunty is unwell or they have concerns I am informed and kept up to date. There is plenty for the residents to do to keep them occupied at all times with singers, flower arranging and games to be played. Also shopping trips in small groups. My aunt is in an electric wheelchair so when we take her out she is dropped off and picked up in their minibus. We wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. The care is superb, the best.
My son has been there since January and it's the best move he's ever had. The staff are amazing, he is so well looked after and cared for. We feel it's safe for him being there. From management down to domestic staff they are all so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Couldn't recommend this care home enough.
We were lucky enough to have been able to get my father-in-law transferred from another nursing home in a different part of the country to Drumconner for palliative care. We can not thank the general manager and her team enough for all that they did for him during the five weeks he was there. The day that we arrived with him, the general manager and some of her team all came to say hello to him whilst we sat in the lounge with a cup of tea and cake. They made him feel so welcome and they did everything that they could for him to make his time there as comfortable as possible. During our visits with him we were lucky enough to meet a lot of the staff and I can honestly say that they genuinely love what they do and that comes across when you see the care that they give all of the residents. I know that he was so happy that he was there and so were we. Thank you General Manager and your amazing team, we are eternally grateful to you all for looking after him like you did. You are all truly very special people.
My husband spent two weeks respite care in Drumconner. He settled happily in the cheerful atmosphere with extremely helpful staff. He had several problems when he arrived and all were dealt with in a professional manner by experienced staff. I visited daily and was always greeted in a friendly manner and kept informed of the treatment my husband was given, which was a great help to me when he came home after a very pleasant stay at Drumconner.
We moved my grandfather here for end-of-life care in January 2023. Without exception, every single member of staff was wonderful. Caring, sincere, hard working, empathetic and enormously respectful. The nursing care was exceptional, and everyone on shift knew exactly what was going on in real time. My grandfather died with dignity in a safe, peaceful and loving environment. My family will be forever grateful to the manager and her wonderful team for their support during his time at Drumconner.
My father moved into this care home in August following the death of my mother. The staff are so very kind and willing to help and please. As a trained nurse myself, I am very conscientious about the levels of care provided and I can honestly say I am very pleased with everything. The home has recently had a new manager, I can say first hand both old and new were brilliant and very supportive to us and in particular my father. My father has complex communication needs, the staff engage with him and he feels very comfortable getting his point across. My father absolutely loves the food and he is very fond of the staff as am I. I feel very involved in my father’s care and I can certainly say his care is centred around his needs and wishes. We had a break in the activity and entertainment schedule but I’m glad to say this is back on full track now. The manager seems to have everything in control. Thank you.
Happy atmosphere in the home. Staff friendly and supportive.
My husband looked good, is happy at Drumconner and I feel calm and reassured not having been able to see my husband for a year. Does not have the look and feel of an 'institution'.
The staff at Drumconner have provided the very highest quality of care for my friend over the past three and a half years. During the last year, which must have been the toughest ever on staff due to the pressures of the pandemic, the dedication and kindness of the time staff members has continued to be truly outstanding. Every member of staff I have met, whatever their role, has been helpful, friendly, kind and caring, not only to the residents but to visitors as well. In fact, everyone is made to feel valued and very welcome. My friend has been extremely happy at Drumconner and for his friends and family members having him in a welcoming, friendly, and safe environment with superb care has been very reassuring indeed. I can most definitely say that my friends, and my own experience, at Drumconner has been extremely positive and outstanding.
Lovely home near the sea, my friend had a room near the front with lovely sea air and view. The staff are very caring and they have some great staff that checked on her night and day. Food is very good and they would prepare us both lunch when I visit, they would cater to her needs if she didn’t want a big meal in the evening.
I wanted to write this review for Drumconner Bournemouth as a way of showing my appreciation for how they cared for my late grandmother. They went above and beyond with the care they gave her and made sure she felt like she was still living at home! One thing which really stood out to me was due to my grandmother's poor eyesight and not being able to see her TV, the management bought her a brand new 43" new TV with no questions asked. This to me is outstanding service. One of her many enjoyments besides watching her new TV was her love of food. The catering facilities ar the home was fantastic. Overall I would highly recommend this home to anyone and wish I could stay there myself.
My father went into care at Drumconner just after residents were not allowed visitors and it was a difficult time for the family. The staff at Drumconner are lovely nothing is too much trouble and they are looking after Dad very well. He is now settling in well and making friends among the residents and staff. Hoping we can visit him soon but glad my mum can now visit once a week.
Staff are very pleasant and always keep me up to date with Dad if he should have an accident.
My friend has been at Drumconner for nearly three years. He has always received the highest quality care by dedicated, caring and kind staff members. As his care needs have increased, the care plan has been adapted to meet his requirements. Drumconner is kept to high cleaning standards and the gardens are beautifully maintained, but it's the exceptionally welcoming and caring staff that make Drumconner so special.
We are very happy with the service, care and commitment that the resident receives. The staff are always there to chat with him and keep him content.
I have been a resident since November 2017. It is difficult to recruit staff since. The staff all look happy and help each other in other jobs that are short. Staff is very helpful to residents.
My mother was a resident at Drumconner for three and a half years, and every step of the way was perfect in every way. All of the staff are so lovely, caring, understanding and friendly. They also all get on with each other in a way I've not seen in most care homes before. Mum had her ups and downs due to her mental illness, but the carers and nurses there made every day better for her. Amazing work.
The staff are so very attentive and make life simple for my Mum.
