View Full Details of Farway Grange Care Home (Nursing)My wife passed away last November after 4 years as a resident of Fairway Grange. She had suffered from advanced Parkinson's dementia and finally suffered a stroke. During her time at Farway she received in my opinion the very best care and nursing that I could have wished for and I believe she was as happy as she could have been given her awful progressive and debilitating disease. All the staff are very caring, always cheerful and would always be raise a smile from her. Over the years I got to know them all quite well and I know they were genuinely fond of her. Over the 4 years she was resident there was very little staff turnover which is a sign of a good working atmosphere and excellent management. The nursing staff are superb and always kept me informed of any changes in my wife's condition. Even though it was heartbreaking for me when I finally had to admit that I could no longer cope with caring for my wife at home, I know I made the correct choice in choosing Farway.
Farway Grange is an outstanding Care Home. Having seen the wonderful long-term care given to two close relatives, I chose it for my post-op recovery and was not disappointed. It is quickly apparent that the staff enjoy working there. They are attentive, cheerful and professional and it feels like a family. Many have been there for several years, which speaks of how well the home is run. Residents are taken for 'walks' and picnics in wheelchairs to the lovely park nearby, and parties are given in the beautiful garden at the back of the house. Every resident is treated as an individual with their varied needs carefully attended to. There is no smell of urine anywhere. The two chefs cook delicious meals using good quality ingredients. Farway Grange does not look like a 5-star hotel and it doesn't need to. They do what matters, which is caring for their residents.
My best friend (only in her early 70s) spent 4 years at Farway Grange. During that time I visited 3 times a week and the care she received was exceptional. Always a friendly face - nothing was too much trouble. I was made to feel so welcome. Management and staff were always accessible for questions or any concerns we might have. The care and support was delivered with great empathy. As end of life approached, everyone was brilliant through such a difficult period. As we maintained our bedside vigil, staff were constantly checking on not just how my friend was doing . . . but on us as well. Teas, coffees, lunch, chats, company - whatever we needed. The nursing and care was exemplary and the reassurance that we were in a home-from-home, happy environment helped us cope with the very sad situation we were all in. Farway has a very special personal approach to the care they give to their residents and to the wider family and friends. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
A close family friend now aged 95 has been at Farway Grange ever since he was discharged from hospital in Feb 2022 with little/no mobility. They have been amazing. Kind & considerate to us and very patient & caring with him; it's clear that he's very fond of them and more than happy with his situation. He also looks far better groomed than when he was looking after himself too, and healthier - he loves the food. I don't think he could be in a better care home, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Farway Grange.
I find all the staff so very helpful and they are very kind to my mum who has additional care needs. I am kept informed of my mum's condition and if there are any hospital appointments due. When I visit her room is always clean and they take care of her personal care. At Christmas time they make sure all their residents have a gift, and they make it a very special time for them. They have activities which engage the residents who are able to join and have days out too. They have a lovely garden and outside area which they use for parties and special events.
My dad has been at Farway Grange since November 2023 and quickly settled into life there. The friendly welcoming atmosphere and the excellent staff have helped with this. He recently celebrated his 96th birthday and I can't thank the staff enough for making sure he enjoyed his special day. Cards, cake and presents provided for him, the smile on his face said it all.
My mum has advanced Alzheimers & has been at Farway now for over 9 years. She is happy & settled there, loves all the staff & they in turn seem to love her. There is a lovely, friendly & caring atmosphere at Farway & we consider ourselves lucky to have found them & would happily recommend them.
The staff do the best they can for my mother who is unable to weight bear. They provide options for her to mix with other residents and provide social activities to include her. Family are encouraged to visit as often as we wish and we are always welcomed by the staff when we visit. My mother recently reached a milestone birthday and the celebrations provided were excellent.
There are not enough stars to rate the care my mum has received at Farway Grange. The Farway Team in my eyes is just like an extended family, caring, compassionate and nothing is too much trouble no matter what you ask of them. I always recommend Farway Whenever I’m asked if I know a good care home stating the brilliant experience my mum and our family have had during her time there. We are always informed and invited to any events that they have planned.
Our lovely mum stayed at Farway Grange Care Home for nine months until the natural end of her life. Her stay and care there was the best we could have asked for. The management, staff and nursing staff were so kind and caring. Always so willing to help Mum and so informative to us, as a family. The food was always lovely, cooked by chefs that had worked at Farway for years. We found Farway's atmosphere so welcoming and friendly. We would always recommend Farway Grange Care Home. So pleased we found them.
The staff at Farway Grange Care Home are dedicated and caring and I can't fault any of the care provided. The food is excellent as well and appetising and nourishing.
My mother has been there for over a year now and all good so far - my mother likes it there - food good - staff good - rooms a cleaned every day - everything thing seems to be run well - no complaints
My Aunt is currently being cared for at Farway, my father was a resident until he passed away last October. I can’t find fault with this home, everyone is so caring and friendly. My aunt was really struggling in her own home even with carers coming in daily- she has improved so much since coming to Farway and is so much happier. I would thoroughly recommend it.
I would like to thank the staff at both the Alexandra and Farway Grange for looking after my brother so well. He was very happy at the Alexandra and as his condition worsened, he moved to Farway to be cared for by the wonderful carer. All the staff played their part in his care and no words will be enough to show my deep appreciation to the manager and everyone at Amrial for making his last few months as comfortable as possible.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Farway Grange. They looked after my cousin superbly well in his last few weeks of life. He was transferred there from McMillan with terminal cancer and with considerable care and nursing needs. All of the staff were considerate, and polite and dealt with him brilliantly. He got to know them well and liked them all. A truly homely care home. I can’t recommend it enough
I cannot believe how well my 90-year-old father is now. He was not expected to live when he entered Farway Grange a year ago. The care and companionship he has received has been exemplary. The staff have always treated him with dignity and welcomed me as a visitor.
My aunt has a terminal diagnosis. Because of the COVID crisis, she has been unable to see us, her family, and has been supported both physically and mentally by care home staff. They have done an extraordinary job in uniquely challenging circumstances, for which I, and my family, are extremely grateful.
I have not been able to visit Farway Grange because of lockdown regulations. I do, however, keep in close touch with my husband by telephone. He was extremely ill when he was transferred from the hospital and needed help with everything. The staff at Farway Grange have been outstanding with their care and kindness, and all residents have come through the pandemic safely purely because of their vigilance and strict adherence to the rules set out. We can never thank them enough, and they should all be commended for their heroic efforts. It is a great pity if they are lumped together with homes that were not so careful. Not only has my husband been protected from the virus, but he has been lovingly nursed back to a very good quality of life.
My father was a resident for nearly 5-years. He passed in May 2020. The activities were brilliant. My son and I joined on the outings once a month. They included boat trips, to the cathedral, tank museum and many more. The garden was always kept tidy. The care team were always cheerful and kept my dad's sense of humour alive. This care home, is in my opinion, excellent.
Lovely environment. Very pleasant and helpful staff. It is a weight off my shoulder knowing that my uncle is cared for very well. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff; the management team are always available to talk to. I feel they all deserve recognition for their outstanding management of the COVID-19 outbreak.
