View Full Details of Castleford HouseMy mum moved in Castleford House 4 months ago and I've been very pleased with the excellent care she's received. I live nearby, so already knew that Castleford was highly regarded, but it's lovely to see it in practice. My mum has advanced dementia but is still mobile, but this is not a problem at Castleford and it's good to see residents being allowed the freedom and dignity to move as they please around the main living rooms. Everytime I've called in to see my mum I've seen staff treat all residents with kindness and respect. Communication between the home and me is very good - they ring with any medical concerns and we have an essigned member of staff for my mum's overall care.
Very pleasant place to visit our mum - staff are always polite and welcoming each visit. My mum always has a smile on her face. Castleford House was the best place when faced with the traumatic decision - it really feels like a home from home.
Mum has lived at Castleford for 4 and half years and I visit most days. It is really really hard to see mum face her challenges and there has been a few hiccups along the way. Nevertheless, I take comfort from the face that mum is in the best available home and I know that, together, we are providing mum with the best possible quality of life.
Over the years, I have found all the staff so helpful, especially when times have been difficult with my dad. The care that he has received is caring and always dignified. If there have been any problems, the staff are quick to help in any way they can. I couldn't wish for anywhere better for my dad.
Every single time we visit we are so pleased by the way the mum is being looked after. We are always overjoyed when we see mums smiling face via social media with all the activities. We often joke that she has a far better social life than we do. Just keep doing what you do we are forever in your debt.
My mother has been a resident at Castleford House for over 3 years. She has received good care that has adapted to her changing needs as required. The staff are friendly and professional and always take time out from their duties to chat when I visit. The home is warm and welcoming and my mother is happy and appears content.
It was a difficult decision to place Mum into care, but from the moment I met the team at Castleford, I knew that I had found the right place for Mum. I have no regrets about my decision, as I can see she is getting the support that she needs from a very experienced team of carers. The care provided is outstanding in my view, and nothing is too much trouble for the amazing team that works here. I have found the communication to be superb, the facility is always clean and tidy and the gardens are immaculate. I also no longer worry about Mum's safety, which was a huge concern when she was at home. There is always someone around checking on her and making sure she is ok. I am so glad we found this home and I am truly grateful to the wonderful team that helps support Mum on a daily basis.
On the outside, Castleford appeared a wonderful place for my brother to reside. He was admitted under one Manager, and evicted by another when we complained about him being wet during the night. The food was great to start, and then was either stone cold or boiling hot. Activity staff were only interested when they could take pictures of my brother to showcase how wonderful they were, in reality, he was rarely involved in anything. The room was acceptable, but the building was kept clean by a team of cleaners who never seemed to stop. Some staff seem overworked by other staff who don't appear to do a lot. We had high hopes for Castleford, which were dashed when the original manager left.
All staff are friendly and helpful. They show great compassion and empathy for the residents. The Home took my relative in despite many others turning her down due to some of her behavior, even though her characteristics are typical of dementia which many nursing homes say they provide service for. I'd urge you to consider this lovely home, set in beautiful gardens if you are looking for a care home for your loved one.
We are really happy with the care and consideration provided to our Mother during her 2 years as a resident. Communication, care, staff, and management are excellent. Access to visit our Mother is unrestricted and the atmosphere is very good whatever time we go in. Cannot recommend the manager and his team highly enough.
My experience with Castleford has been excellent. The staff have been professional, caring, informative, and communicative about my relative, making me feel like part of the team, and they are very alert to any changes. My relative can be difficult, and the staff cope with this and try to find ways around the problems. My relative chooses not to eat most of what is offered, but the staff give what is asked for, and monitor any weight changes.
Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a visible decline in the dining experience and quality of food. Numerous staff members have raised concerns and to date, it seems to be worse than ever. I have raised concerns which seem to have been ignored by management. Bowls which are a safety issue with residents and staff as they’ve been in a very hot oven (lasagna or pies etc). The soup which is too hot or to the opposite extreme of being cold. The food coming out of the kitchen at the moment is way below standard and not the usual for Castleford sadly.
My mother lived at Castleford for 18 months where she died. I and my family have always found the staff very kind, loving, and respectful toward her. The staff has always had an attitude that we were sharing the care with Mum, with the amount of consultation that we chose, and always sharing changes and issues. We are so grateful that we found Castleford and she could spend the last 18 months of her life there. Every member of staff is kind and friendly, from the nursing staff to the carers, cleaners, kitchen staff, and maintenance. As soon as you walk in you sense that the important people are the residents, it is their home, and are treated with respect and dignity by staff, other residents, and visitors. Mum loved the food and I had a delicious relatives' meal there! These things all reflect the management of the home. The management style is open and friendly. The management team always listens and acts on any issue. The support and empathy from the staff has been invaluable.
Staff are friendly. Always say hello. Caring for residents when I arrived, with dignity. My mother who is mainly bedbound was being fed when I arrived. Young carer was very nice and polite. Took good care of my mum's needs. She also fed her in the morning and washed her. Mum's room was spotless and so is the care home, which also has a new foyer carpet.
Mum is happy and cared for and likes the staff that look after her and considers Castleford House as her home, which is really important to us as a family. Having to move her from her home, then entrust someone else with her twenty-four hour care, is a big decision.
We certainly wouldn’t choose for Mum to be in a nursing home, but that decision has been taken from us and it isn’t possible for her to live at home. This has been a difficult journey for all of the family, but made all the easier because of the care she receives at Castleford Nursing Home. To know that she is cared for in the same way as we want to care for her is reassuring. The staff at Castleford Nursing Home are attentive, caring, compassionate and empathetic. It really is like having extended family who are not only there for Mum, but the rest of the family too. Every member of staff, kitchen, cleaning, care, lifestyles, nursing and management, are approachable and willing to help. My mum loves them all and thank goodness they have a sense of humour, it is certainly needed at times. Thank you to you all.
What a lovely, caring environment. Lovely dedicated staff. Residents treated with respect from the lovely staff. Always something going on to entertain residents. Staff are always helpful and are easy to talk to. Visiting times are good too.
All the staff are magnificent and work incredibly hard. They all have a great relationship with the residents and make them feel at home, whilst understanding each resident's difficulties. In what is a very difficult job/career, all the staff certainly put in the extra mile. Thank you.
I moved my mother from another care home on the south coast of England to be nearer me. I was also very unhappy with the care she was receiving at that home. Since arriving at Castleford House Care Home, my mum’s physical and mental health have improved greatly. I feel she is incredibly well cared for and is treated with dignity. Every time I visit she is clean and well-dressed, it looks as if someone has taken the time to think about her appearance which is so important for people who have always cared about how they are presented. My mum doesn’t often want to join in with events but she is always encouraged to and if I want to arrange to take her out the home is always happy to facilitate. The home is always clean and welcoming and there is no attempt to hide the fact that is the resident’s home. When you walk in the entrance you can see the residents being cared for and included, in her previous home it felt as if the residents were being hidden. I am very happy with the care my mum is receiving.
The decision to put Mum into a care home was so difficult. We moved Mum to Castleford House after three months in a previous home where the care was poor. The difference is amazing. The staff are so caring, committed and friendly. We have seen an improvement in Mum's speech and her mood in the short time she has been at Castleford House. The level of care is fantastic and the encouragement and patience from the staff is outstanding. The manager and his team are all wonderful.
