View Full Details of Elm Grove Care HomeSince mum moved to this home in Cirencester around 2 years ago, mum has been so much happier! Compared to the last care home in the area! I have a left a 5 star review before about the amazing staff at Elm Grove, but this time I would like to express huge praise and thanks to all of the "kitchen staff!" the chef and his team are amazing! Nothing is too much trouble talking about my mum's dietary requirements! The amount of time they have personally spent with mum, myself and my partner talking at how they can help mum with her diet, as mum is on a puree diet at present. Their kindness and time is above and beyond! The way in which the chef and team present, as well as the creativity of the pureed meals is like food you would expect to see visually in a Michelin Restaurant, the beautifully presented meals. Nothing is too much trouble, even when they are busy, if you want a cheeky cuppa, just knock on the door and they will makes us one. We love the kitchen team! Thank you!
We continue to be extremely happy with the level of care mum receives at Chestnut Lodge. The staff are exceptionally friendly welcoming and very loving and caring towards mum. Nothing is too much trouble. All of mum's needs are very well taken care of with patience and love and I know how challenging the behaviour of a dementia sufferer can be. In addition to her needs Elm Grove Chestnut provides an amazing array of fabulous activities over a wide variety of choices to suit everyone. Mum is having a ball and that makes us very happy.
Elm Grove, Cirencester. Mum came to Elm Grove from the hospital after a very serious fall, which needed surgery. She's settled in very quickly and regained her mobility in a short time with the help of staff. Mum had oedema on both legs, now 6 months later, they are all clear. There's always nursing staff available for an update. The home is very clean and all the staff are very supportive and calm around her dementia symptoms. She is in the last stages of dementia now, and she is being monitored daily. I always receive an update when I visit. The grounds are large and they hold a summer fair every year. Mum really enjoyed that. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
As a family we cannot say enough positive things about Elm Grove Care Home. The time, care and support every member of staff gives to my grandad has given confidence in himself again. Grandad is safe very well cared for, has all meals and medication provided reducing stress on himself. The most important thing - he is happy!! Grandad is thriving because of the expert care and living his life as he wishes, with support on hand 24/7.
The service my father receives is above and beyond what you expect from any care home. Continual updates from the team when I visit my dad even when they are extremely busy, go above and beyond. They are truly amazing. I cannot thank them enough for making sure my dad receives hotel-standard food it is much appreciated. All the staff in Chestnut Lodge go above and beyond to make sure he is happy healthy and safe. Every time I visit dad he tells me this is the best place ever. He loves it there especially his one carer she makes " his day".
Mum came to stay for two weeks of respite care and she was very well cared for and looked after. We had complete peace of mind whilst we had a much-needed holiday. All the staff were lovely and mum thoroughly enjoyed her 'holiday', she has already asked us if she will be coming again!
I have found all the staff unfailingly friendly and helpful. I have not eaten here, but the menu looks very tempting. My friend's room is large, light and airy.
My mum moved into Elm Grove Care Home a week ago it was a difficult move away from my father but the staff have all been amazing - so kind and caring. It is clear to see my mum is being looked after well and it is reassuring to know she is safe.
My wife who suffers from Alzheimer's is treated at all times with dignity, care and cheerfulness. All the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and happy in their work. The home is completely serene and spotlessly clean. I am confident that my wife is in the best possible and safest hands.
My dad has lived at Elm Grove for the past 20 months. Initially he moved in with my mum who sadly passed away 16 months ago. His dementia means he has gradually declined but he obviously feels safe with the care team who are friendly and support him with all his needs. He smiles often and is settled, generally, he appears happy. He tucks into all his meals, an easy chew diet, there is choice and it always looks appetising and smells good. Thank you to everyone who looks after him.
When mum moved to Elm Grove she found a new home and family in the staff and other residents. We all felt so welcome then and at all times since. Mum was treated at all times with great compassion and dignity from staff who really cared and were so kind. The staff had great tolerance and understanding of dementia, always having time for residents and their families. The staff were great communicators and listeners, be it face-to-face or by phone. Mum passed away at Elm Grove and the palliative care she received was exemplary. We were reassured that her last days would be pain-free, both mentally and physically and they were. The care throughout this time for Mum and us as a family was second to none. Mum's stay at Elm Grove was only for 9 months but she couldn't have been in a better place or with better staff. Please keep up the good work, you are an amazing team led by a wonderful home manager.
Excellent care, staff are extremely caring and compassionate to all the residents. A very warm and inclusive atmosphere where all residents are treated with real dignity and relatives are made to feel very welcome. My mum couldn't have been in a better place for her last 9 months.
Elm Grove has a calm, homely atmosphere where my wife and family felt welcome from day one. The staff are so caring and kind, working hard with patience, cheery smiles and professionalism to give their best. It feels like a family and the manager ensures residents are seen as individuals not a number. We visited around ten homes before we made this place our choice - it was definitely the right one.
The day after my sister-in-law moved into Elm Grove we visited to make sure that she was comfortable and happy, we were met by staff who introduced themselves by first names which put us at ease and made us feel as if we were meeting up with old friends. The care that my sister-in-law receives is first class although she doesn't always appreciate it given the kind of dementia that she has, her room overlooks the garden and she watches the changes to the chestnut tree, she does not mix well but the staff are trying to get her to be more sociable. The food is excellent and varied and all staff kind and caring, we could not have wished for a better home for my sister-in-law to be in. Thank you.
We cannot tell you how well looked after our dear Mum, Mother-in-law and Nanny is! She is always happy and has lots of lovely things to do and people to see. She is in better health than she was living at home - she eats and drinks so much more, we are so pleased. It was a really hard decision to let her live at Chestnut Lodge - but a year on we absolutely know that it was the right thing. Thank you to all of the amazing staff that care for her daily.
My mother and father started their stay at Elm Grove Care home in April 2022. My father has dementia and my mother was frail, due to a fall in early 2020 where she broke her hip. The care they have both received has been excellent. Unfortunately, my mother died in September 2022 and the staff were fantastic in caring for her right up to the end. My father continues to be cared for and supported by staff here and I feel he is in a safe and caring environment.
Staff are professional, kind, caring and supportive.
My wife has now been with Elm Grove for over two years and overall the care and attention given to her by staff has been very good, bordering on excellent. As with any people-orientated organisation, there are 'star' carers and 'also-rans'. The 'stars' are fantastic and provide a wonderful level of empathy to patients like my wife and are able to bring a smile to her face. Activities staff try to involve all residents, despite the challenges that dementia brings. Sadly for many patients with this awful disease, considerable amounts of time is spent without meaningful cognitive involvement or challenges. The standard of furnishing and decoration within all guest areas of the home is excellent and kept up to date. Recently, all rooms have been redecorated and the furniture and carpeting has been replaced, giving a well-cared for look to the whole home environment.
I realise how challenging it must be to care for residents with varying types of dementia but I do feel there could be more staff to attend to my brother's needs. He frequently complains his call button is not answered in a timely fashion and he is left on the toilet for far too long. His toilet needs are his main worry as he needs full assistance with this. He is becoming anxious about this and holds it for too long. This is an ongoing situation.
During the time my mother has been at Elm Grove, I have found the staff very friendly and helpful towards her, which, to me, is the most important thing. She often tells me how kind they are.
