View Full Details of Barchester Hunters Care HomeMy mother was very anxious initially about going in for respite care, this is the third time she has stayed and she is very settled and has made some lovely friends with other residents and staff. Everyone is so friendly, all the staff remembered her name when she arrived and they all made every effort to ensure she was well looked after, safe and comfortable. She will be back whenever we go away.
When I first came after hospital care, with pneumonia and a damaged tendon and ligament I developed a heavy cold and being weak this went onto my chest. This had taken me into a very bad condition and with the help and encouragement from your staff, my family, and your physio, pulled me through from a zimmer frame and being very very weak to smiling and joking and walking with a stick. Building my strength and confidence back and having the ability to go back to my own home. Many thanks to all who helped me from a bad place to where I am today, big big big thanks. Will miss them all.
My father had a very challenging Christmas and New Year having been hospitalised with pneumonia. At very short notice the Hunters team were able to step in to support. The care they gave during his 4 weeks of recovery was excellent. They were friendly, supportive and knowledgeable and I really don't know how we would have coped without them. A huge thank you from my Dad and our family.
Both my parents moved into Hunters Cirencester, my father first in December 2021, shortly followed by my mother in January 2022. Dad unfortunately had advanced dementia and the care he received in the Memory Lane community was absolutely outstanding. My mum had a lovely room on the second floor within the main community. Both have sadly now passed. The care they received was of the very highest order. The manager leads an absolutely first-rate care team of wonderful people, I can honestly say my parents couldn't have had better care anywhere else. It was always a comfort knowing they were looked after round the clock, 24/7. Both my parents were very happy and comfortable at Hunters. I can't recommend Hunters Cirencester highly enough, an excellent care home of the very highest order with wonderful staff.
The staff are lovely and caring, nothing is too much trouble. We always felt Dad was safe and cared for. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for care. The manager was exceptional and professional in every area. I must give a special shout-out to one of the nurses in charge, you knew if she was asked to do something it would be carried out and not forgotten.
It was such a relief to be admitted so quickly and efficiently to Barchester Hunters Care Home when I became too ill to look after myself at home. I felt safe and cared for and as I got better, started to enjoy the lovely ambience, facilities and pleasure of being in such a very pleasant environment.
I have found the staff very friendly and helpful and very prompt to respond to requests. I would strongly recommend the care home to anyone in need of care. Perhaps would have liked more newspapers.
The staff are well trained and operate as a team. They are all good ambassadors for Barchester Hunters Care Home. Hugely efficient, kind, friendly and totally professional. It was a most agreeable experience here, beautiful surroundings and many rooms for gatherings and activities.
Excellent, well-run care home.
The staff treat me like a friend which makes me feel more at home.
My cousin moved into Hunters 5 years ago. She came from London and had not seen the home. She loved her room the moment she saw it. The staff made her very welcome and took a lot of trouble to make her feel at home. When she was in they nursed her with great compassion and skill without their care she would not have recovered. The staff were always friendly, kind and caring. Obviously very fond of her. I would not have found a better place for her to spend her last few years. Thank you.
My mother received excellent care at Barchester Hunters Care Home. They treated a serious leg ulcer which she had when she joined the home and which healed well, against medical expectations. The staff were caring and I saw many cases of small kindnesses and considerations which made all the difference. We were very grateful when Hunters were able to take her in at almost no notice. She had excellent care in her final days when she was really struggling and I will always remember the staff that cared for her in those difficult days with great affection.
My sister was in Hunters for three weeks of respite care, arriving from the hospital in a rather confused state, which was unexpected. Nevertheless, Hunters acted promptly to keep her safe. Their support and care meant that she recovered well. All the staff we saw were polite, friendly and caring. They listened to what we said and took notice of our concerns. I would give my sister my full support if she chose to return to Hunters (from her flat) at a later date.
My experience of Hunters has been excellent. From viewing with the general manager on a Saturday, he met with Mum for an assessment on Tuesday; she moved in on Friday. Mum liked her spacious room and her en-suite bathroom was quickly fitted out to meet her needs. Mum enjoyed great care, kindness and friendship from the staff and had huge confidence in the nursing team. Her health improved and she then enjoyed the regular activities on offer, from the cinema club, visiting musical shows and animals including birds of prey, ponies, farm animals and a therapy dog! Family is always welcome to visit at any time, which was important to us. We joined for events such as the annual summer fete, Coronation Celebrations and Christmas Lunch. As Mum's health declined the escorted transport to medical appointments was invaluable. I fully recommend Hunters - a fabulous team of professionals who deliver person-centred care with great kindness.
My mother was in this beautiful home for about 3 years. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. All the staff were friendly, helpful and very caring. The standard of hygiene and cleanliness was exceptional. The lovely meals prepared for all individual requirements and enjoyed. My mother was cared for by all the staff, who individually got to know her which was lovely. A very big thank you from her daughter and rest of the family.
Mother spent about 2 and a half years at Hunters and we could not have asked for better care. She was unable to walk when she arrived but was, until the last few months, moved around to enjoy the meals and activities. The staff coped well with her problems and, whilst occasionally delusional, she never complained about the service. She was as comfortable as possible under the circumstances.
Our mother suffered from dementia and was admitted six years ago. I can honestly say that the care she received was brilliant. The care staff were extremely caring, and it was obvious they enjoyed their job by the love they expressed. So much so that our family had no concerns that Mum was getting the best possible care.
After years of living independently, my mother needed care and attention due to her advancing dementia. She arrived lonely, frightened and worried, but the care and compassion shown by all the staff helped her settle down. During all of my visits and calls, it was evident that the warm relationships with carers, medics, support staff and management were genuine. It meant a great deal to know, just by the tone of the banter, that my mother was enjoying the company of others in a friendly, safe environment. Importantly, medical ailments and treatment options were discussed early with respect and dignity. Occasionally, there were minor slip-ups, but the response was honest, and any issues were addressed promptly, which reinforced my appreciation of the service by Hunters. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Hunters.
My husband was in Hunters Care Home for three weeks before his death, and during that time, received good palliative care and kindness. I, too, was very grateful for the kindness and compassion of the staff.
I came for a period to convalesce following a hip replacement. I arrived feeling very tired and sore. The staff quickly made me feel welcome and the nutritious meals have, over the week, had strengthened me considerably. The care shown to me has been excellent. Eating in the dining room is a lovely way to meet people and have a chat. The furnishings of both the bedroom and bathroom are of a good standard and the setting with the garden surrounding this home is relaxing. The home is well-managed and very competently run and should the need arise, I would be very happy to return.
