View Full Details of Westbourne Care HomeVery well-run care home. Professional, very clean. My mother is very happy to be well looked after all things considered after suffering a stroke in 2023. Friendly family-orientated home.
In a word, brilliant. The staff are kind, caring, knowledgeable and always available. In my professional capacity, I visit a lot of care homes to ensure quality, so recognise excellence - that's apparent at Westbourne. I didn't think I would ever need to be a "customer", but so very glad that I know Mum is safe and well cared for at Westbourne. Well done to everyone - I hope you soon reach Outstanding - you all deserve it!
Every time I visit my cousin, she is always neat and tidy and seems very relaxed and enjoying the activity that is being offered. All the staff are very welcoming and are so kind to my cousin. Her room is always clean and tidy.
Mum has been a resident at Westbourne for nearly three years now and I couldn’t ask for a nicer care home to look after her. It is a very special place, the staff are always welcoming and it gives me great peace of mind knowing she is safe, seeing that I live a distance away so am not able to visit as often as I would like. Mum is 96 and has Alzheimer’s so her moods are a bit up and down but all the staff are very kind and caring with her. She enjoys going for the occasional trip out, especially for fish and chips at the pub! It’s always good to see the photos of her and she genuinely looks happy and always neat and tidy. Thank you everyone at Westbourne.
My mum has lived at Westbourne for two and a half years and absolutely loves it there. The care and attention she gets is second to none. The manager and deputy manager are amazing and make the home such a happy place to live in and visit. Every single one of the staff are so friendly, happy, work hard and always willing to have a chat. Any concerns I have about my mum are always dealt with promptly. The food is excellent with a great variety and my mum is always given a choice. There are lots of activities going on including singing, music and movement, arts and crafts etc. They also have outings to places such as Slimbridge, the quays, meals at pubs and Robinswood Hill Cafe. My mum enjoys having her hair and nails done in the salon. I am so grateful to everyone at Westbourne for everything they do for my mum. Westbourne has changed my mum’s life and also mine for the better as I know she is well looked after and I don’t have to worry. Westbourne feels like one big happy family.
I have nothing but praise and gratitude! Wonderful, patient and caring staff. It feels like a home, with an air of cheeriness and positivity - bright décor, pictures, photos and residents’ artwork on the walls. Mum spent her last 18 months thereafter her Alzheimer’s made it impossible for her to live independently. During that time several of the staff members obtained further qualifications, particularly in the area of treatment of dementia. Continued learning seems to be encouraged and celebrated. Mum was very happy at Westbourne. Always plenty of activities; music, dancing, art, animal visits and trips out. Mum felt pampered and had her hair and her nails done regularly. The food was varied, nutritious and interesting and mum was encouraged to eat and stay hydrated, even when she didn’t really want to. I’m so pleased we found Westbourne. It was definitely the right place for mum and we never once felt we’d made the wrong decision. I wholeheartedly give it a five-star review!
My cousin moved into Westbourne in July 2023. The staff all made him feel very welcome. He is very happy with his room. It is always clean and bright around the home and the staff are very caring and kind. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and available to chat to. We are very happy with the care provided here.
My husband and I are over the moon with my mum's care and the life she now leads at Westbourne Care Home. All our lives have changed dramatically since we found her a place there. It is the most exceptionally caring and loving family environment that you could ever hope for and this is down to the brilliant management and all the amazing staff that work there. It is difficult to put into words how highly we regard every aspect of life at Westbourne and how much it means to me that mum finds such affection, comfort and happiness there.
We recently lost our mum after 18 months, staying with her 'new family' at Westbourne. During that time she was so happy and the care and support from all the staff were just amazing. We felt the inevitable feelings of guilt when she first went into care but these feelings soon disappeared when we saw how happy she was - and her health improved greatly during that time. She was able to enjoy numerous activities and trips out with staff and other residents - and loved to get her hair and nails done. The genuine support from the staff in mum's final few weeks was incredible and I can't thank them enough - both for the support to mum and to me personally.
My mother has been living at Westbourne for over two years with Alzheimer’s. She needs help with every aspect of care. She can no longer talk, walk or feed herself. The wonderful staff at Westbourne always give her love, care and attention and they give us, her family, support and any advice we may need. If we ever have any concerns they quickly respond. As well as the special love they give to the residents they are committed to continually improving their knowledge and expertise, including care for people with dementia with all the complexity that brings; and it shows in the quality of care they provide. My review certainly wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention my heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff who prepared the delicious and nutritious meals, and kept everything clean, hygienic and in good working order. It is all so very much appreciated. Westbourne truly is a caring and loving family.
Mum has been resident for 7 months now and refers to The Westbourne as 'home'. She is happy, and content and enjoys the meals! The staff and management are friendly, helpful, caring and conscientious without exception. There are frequent activities, which residents may join in with if they choose and outings to local amenities, such as the nearby country park. Overall, myself and all the family are very happy with the care and attention Mum receives and we are confident that she is being properly cared for at all times.
It's really nice to visit mum in Westbourne. I feel so welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere is very friendly and warm, the staff are always happy to have a chat. They show grace, dignity, humanity and kindness.
Westbourne has been my mum’s home for the last 2 years and they have done everything they can to care for her with compassion and dignity. The staff are always helpful and approachable. I am so thankful for all they do for mum.
What can I say? My husband needed to go into care and I tried three short respite stays before I found Westbourne. When he came to Westbourne for a two-week stay he was very happy, he therefore stayed permanently. He has not looked back. He really enjoyed some of the musical activities in the afternoons. The staff are like family members that the residents really engage with. The staff are very professional and very very caring too. I visited quite a lot and was always treated with respect and friendliness from all staff and management and a cup of tea was never far away. Of all four homes I tried first I would rate this one as ‘tops’. The food is excellent. I have stayed for lunch and supper and have always enjoyed the food and there are choices for the residents to select what they would like. Nothing is too much bother for them. Well done to all the Westbourne family.
My mum has been at Westbourne for 5 years now and is 93. The home itself is always very clean and the staff and management are extremely caring and approachable. During her time here she has had some major health issues including a severe stroke. They have been so supportive throughout and feel I can go to them with any concerns and they will be listened to. The manager is amazing and both she and her staff go above and beyond to care for their residents. There have been short periods during this time, particularly after the COVID outbreak where they have been understaffed but this has been addressed and serious investment in training for staff has been evident in their numerous qualification achievements. My mum wouldn't want to be anywhere else and I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else either.
The hardest decision a family may have to make is to put a parent into care. Westbourne staff helped ease that decision. From the initial home visit to Mum becoming a resident, we found the staff friendly, caring and dedicated. Westbourne Care Home is a home that cares.
It's early days but mother-in-law has settled in well, seems happy and is well cared for. We have no concerns about her care or welfare. The management and staff are very friendly, supportive and caring. There are activities arranged every day including some outings to the local country park and other places of interest. She was very pleased to be able to have a bath, after many years of only being able to have a sit-down shower at home! There is a pleasant garden area where we hope to be able to sit during our visits, should the weather improve.
The staff at Westbourne Care Home give my brother the best attention. The manager and assistant manager are very helpful in wanting to sort out any problems which my brother may have. The staff are very friendly towards my brother, making him feel at home. Things have not been easy in the home due to Covid restrictions but, even so, the staff have worked hard to make sure that every need and comfort is met for the residents. I am so pleased that my brother is in the care of Westbourne Care Home!
I have found everyone very nice, kind and thoughtful. Mum has said she struggles with some night staff which I haven't met. Food looks and smells delicious. The room is clean and tidy.
Wonderful, compassionate staff. Excellent care. Superior care. Tasty, healthy meals. Best care given. Outstanding. Unique, personalised care. Restful atmosphere. Nothing is too much. Ever thankful for Dad living here. Home from home.
