View Full Details of St Benedicts Nursing Home LtdGenerally when visiting my brother we are warmly welcomed. I feel that my brother is being well cared for. The staff are attentive and will answer any questions or concerns with upmost honesty. My brothers room is always clean and tidy, as he is as well. Personally I would have no qualms in referring anyone to St Benedicts Nursing Home Ltd.
The care home staff from all areas are excellent and very compassionate and willing to tailor support for my mum who was admitted back in September 2024 with complex needs. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really try to make every resident feel welcome and engaged in very trying circumstances. The facilities are clean and well-maintained and the standards of care are what you would expect for a loved one. I would thoroughly recommend St Benedicts Nursing Home to anyone who is considering placing someone there.
My mum was at St Benedicts (The Deanery). Over the last few days of her life the love, support and compassion both Mum and I received was outstanding, especially from two particular members of the care team. When I was sitting with Mum the staff came in to comfort me and to check that Mum was comfortable. She had clean bedding and clean clothes every day and they even painted her nails. I would like to think that Mum was aware that she was having a manicure (she would have loved it!) and I can't thank them enough for this kindness. I was with Mum when she passed away peacefully and was comforted by Mum's special carer. No words can adequately say how wonderful the staff were at this sad time. I hope and trust that the management and owner realise how lucky they are to have such a special, dedicated and wonderfully caring team who enabled Mum to enjoy the last 3 years of her life and for me to know that she was being so well looked after. I will always be in their debt.
Human Angels. In September 2023 my father was admitted to St Benedict's Nursing Home in Glastonbury after spending most of the summer at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. He left hospital with a very complicated diagnosis of 'acquired haemophilia', which is an incredibly rare and terminal condition. Coupled with diabetes and dementia the challenge was going to be great. The care and attention at St Ben's was exceptional and we not only thank them for the care of my father, but also for the care and compassion we all received. My father passed away peacefully on, 17th November, 2023. It would be unjust to single out any individuals, as clearly the overarching culture at the home is outstanding. As a family, we cannot thank all of the staff enough for their care and support and we believe, they are 'human angels'. We look forward to returning for the anniversary celebrations, to drink with the 'angels', to our beloved Dad and husband.
Having to make a decision as to where to place a loved one when they are at their most vulnerable is one of the most traumatic and hardest I have ever had to make but I needn't have worried. From the very first time I visited St Benedicts, I knew Mum would be safe and well cared for. The whole team at St Benedicts showed immense professionalism and the highest standard of care to not only Mum but the family as well. All the staff were amazing with Mum and they all saw past her illness and treated her with respect and dignity. Everything that could be done for Mum was done and nothing was ever too much. We were always greeted with a smile and made to feel like part of St Benedicts family. Communication between us and the staff was brilliant. We will never be able to thank everyone enough for the care they showed Mum in the last weeks of her life. We had peace of mind knowing that when we left her after visiting she was safe, happy and well looked after.
My Mum has been in this home for a few years now. We had a few little teething problems but management went all out to help with our problems it was just settling Mum into her new environment. But I would recommend St Benedict's Nursing Home to anyone, the staff has been brilliant with Mum and always kept us updated on any health problems. Thanks so much to you all.
Right from the truly excellent kitchen staff, who produce such wonderful food 365 days of the year including Christmas Day, through to the fantastic cleaning, laundry and maintenance staff, for all of this I am truly gratified. But, to all the health care staff that care for my wife every day and night with such love and attention to detail, pristine bed sheets and pillowcases and all the loving care that we all would wish for ourselves, I am so truly thankful to all these Angels that treat my wife with such love and respect. I must add my deepest thanks to all the nursing and management staff, the kingpins that function to make everything run so smoothly for us to enjoy every single day.
My grandad spent a number of months last year in the Vicarage Unit at St. Benedicts Nursing Home. When I visited the staff were very friendly (Grandad knew them all by name including the non-care staff) and offered me tea or coffee on arrival. Grandad’s room was clean, as were the lounge and dining areas. The home always smelled fresh! The food looked really great with a large variety of meals, sometimes themed. This was an important part of Grandad’s day. Whenever our family needed an update on Grandad the nurses were easy to talk to and were always honest and professional. I would recommend St. Benedicts all round but particularly for their end-of-life care and clear attention to dignity. We thank all of the staff so much!
My father moved here just over three months ago from a care home in Manchester so that I could visit him more frequently. The transition went well. Dad is very happy here and I have found all the staff very welcoming and friendly. The nursing staff are very professional and I feel he is being closely monitored in all aspects of his health and care. The activities staff also are very good at giving him attention and the carers are diligent, caring and considerate. I can tell that all the staff are happy in their work.
My brother is really looked after and staff and management are very friendly. I could not look after my brother at home any more, now I feel like a sister more than a carer. He likes staying in his room and watching TV. The lounge is very nice and there’s a lot going on there.
I recently visited St Benedicts Nursing Home where my grandmother is staying and I was impressed by the compassionate care provided to residents. The staff were attentive, the facility was clean, and there was a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking quality long-term care for their loved ones.
My father-in-law has been in St Ben's for a few months. He is eating well and seems to enjoy his food. His wife joined him for Christmas dinner. His room has had his personal touches added which makes it very homely. The care staff are very kind, attentive and respectful of his needs. All in all, we're very pleased with his care.
Warm and friendly environment. The staff are all very friendly and provide an excellent level of care with a lot of empathy. A good level of activities are provided which are well supported by staff and residents. Food is good, with choices available to suit personal preferences.
My husband spent the last nineteen months of his life at St Benedict’s; he was treated with kindness, dignity and respect at all times until his passing. I found St Benedict’s to be very supportive at such a difficult time, especially supporting me as well. I will be eternally grateful.
My mum moved into The Deanery in June 2023 at the most stressful time of my life. I had looked at several other nursing homes for her, but as soon as I visited The Deanery, I knew it was the right place. She is beautifully cared for with dignity and kindness. All the staff are very professional, kind and friendly. Her room is basic but comfortable, and everywhere is spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St Benedict’s to anyone.
This review is to make people aware/warn people what we went through and to think twice if you are considering placing your loved ones here. Due to Covid and him having to self-isolate, by the time we were able to see him, it was too late for us to be able to get him home. We were asked to drop off personal belongings to make his room homely. When we went in these were still in a bag, his room was not nice and cosy as we were told it would be. His room was disgusting, including food/juice sprayed up the wall including blood, dirty and had broken basic furniture, and needed a bit of decorating. He was denied basic rights, failed to medicate him when in pain. Frog marched him across the room in a hoist. Didn’t even call him his right name. They lost his items, didn’t return all his belongings when named. One staff member spoke about others very rudely in front of patient's visitors, heard her call somebody “a loud-mouthed cow”, had no empathy whatsoever.
I have found St Benedict's to be simply outstanding in its care for my very elderly father. He was previously in three other establishments in the UK or abroad, two of which cost twice as much, and St Benedict's is in my view the best by some considerable margin. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the TLC they lavish on my father, particularly under the current very challenging locked-down conditions, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
My Mum spent the last 18 months in St Benedict's care home as a self-funding resident. She really did not like the idea of having to be in care but had no other option as she had become completely immobile. Because of the amazing care, received, she truly ending up regarding St Benedict's as home. She loved the staff and I will be forever grateful for St Benedict's making her last days here comfortable. The staff at St Benedict's are all wonderful and really connect with the residents. I would recommend St Benedict's care home to anyone.
My grandmother has received a high level of care from this care home. Her room is light, bright and airy if a little small. The home is always warm but also well ventilated. There always seem to be homemade cakes on offer and frequently fresh flowers about the place. It has a more homely feel than some homes I’ve visited and I’ve been pleased with the care my grandma has had over the last few years. The staff are generally very good, attentive, friendly and yet professional. The manager is excellent at her job and sometimes brings her dog, which again gives it a home from home feel. It is a few minutes from Glastonbury Abbey and shops if you wish to take your relative out for a walk/go out in a wheelchair and have a coffee or afternoon tea nearby. Overall, I would recommend this home and feel they do a very good job.
St Benedict's care home - what a truly wonderful care facility this is. From our first visit to look at what they had to offer. The care and love they gave mum and us her family, was first class. We felt as is we were walking into our own home every time we called in to see Mum until her passing.
