View Full Details of Catherine House Care HomeCatherine House is an amazing care/nursing home facility where my husband with severe vascular dementia has been a resident now for nearly a year. I cannot praise the home highly enough. Across the board from fantastic nursing staff, care assistants, managers, and admin to catering and maintenance services! They all deliver professional service and are important to such support and friendship to family members, like me with kindness and always a smile. Truly a fantastic team and should be applauded.
Good feeling when you walk in. Had excellent viewing on first visit with everything shown and explained. Pleased able to take my husband's personal things in before he arrived as helped him to settle. All the staff friendly and very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Felt they spent time getting to know my husband's way. Lounge and dining room have a nice relaxed feel, no pressure to use. Excellent care home.
My husband lived at Catherine House for 5 years 6 months before his death three weeks ago. He enjoyed living there and was well cared for by kind and cheerful staff. For the last 2 months of his life, he suffered from cancer and it is about this time I want to submit a review. I am so grateful to the manager and her staff that those months were spent with them. He was not just cared for but cared about and so was I. The family atmosphere in the home helped us through a very difficult time. The skill and professionalism of the manager are only matched by her compassion. His physical needs were met in a truly caring manner and he was treated with respect and a genuine desire to do the very best for him. I will always be grateful for the end-of-life care he received at Catherine House and for those who gave it.
I'm writing this review after 3 months of experience at Catherine House as my Mother's 'forever home'. Older care and dementia is challenging, to say the least, however, I have found Catherine House treats people as individuals, with respect, and giving them agency as much as possible within the scope of providing safe care. There is a can-do and flexible attitude, from a basis of deep knowledge, with active leadership teams, and a compassionate, personable care team. Activities don't apply so much in my case, at this time, but I will happily re-review at a later stage. As a family we are reassured in the knowledge our mother is being well cared for, is safe, and is in a place that will support her individual needs every step of the way.
Mum moved into Catherine House in November 2023 with my dad because they could no longer manage at home, dad died in December 2023 and I was not sure how Mum would cope. They had been married for 68 years and did everything together. The staff at Catherine House were amazing with Mum, they were there if she wanted to talk, and she had the opportunity to join in with activities or stay in her room. Gradually she has come out of herself, she is now joining in and going out on excursions. They held a fete in March and I helped Mum run the Tombola we had a great day. I am completely relaxed knowing Mum is safe, well looked after, and happy, it is a pleasure to visit the home, the staff always make me feel welcome and part of the team. I have made friends with some of the other family members (which is a brilliant name rather than calling them residents). Thank you to all the staff at Catherine House, I know I have made the right choice.
In December, Mum stayed at Catherine House for 4 weeks of convalescent care. On her arrival, the building looked so homely and festive; there was even a brass band playing Christmas carols! Mum had the opportunity to take part in activities and social events and the very pleasant surprise of a visit from Santa, complete with a pressie on Christmas morning, plus a fabulous Christmas lunch, etc. The camaraderie between the staff was very evident to see, which in turn creates a friendly and cheerful atmosphere within the home. All staff were respectful, thoughtful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Mum enjoyed the meals and the banter with staff as well as other residents ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable time. Thank you to all at Catherine House, for your kind care.
In my experience, the staff have always been very friendly and helpful towards me. I have witnessed them interact with my stepdad and have always been impressed with their patience and skill in dealing with people who have dementia. On his 90th birthday, staff set up the big screen to play one of his favourite DVDs, I can’t thank them enough for the effort they put in to make his day special, he genuinely had a lovely day.
My mum has been a resident of Catherine House for over two years. The staff are wonderful - cheerful, friendly, caring and attentive, as well as welcoming to visitors. Mum's accommodation is always really clean and fresh. Mum enjoys the food and there is always a morning/afternoon tea 'treat' from the kitchen. The staff seem to work well as a supportive and cooperative team. My family is very grateful to them.
I was so pleasantly surprised to find that my father had been invited to stay in the care of Catherine House Care Home. The care from the staff is wonderful and I know my dad feels happy where he is because of the staff's gentle care and plus he just loves the food. He also loves the garden at the end of the corridor, which has been well looked after. My dad feels safe and well attended to. I have a great relationship with the staff every time I come to take my dad out in the chair for a walk alongside the Frome River. If ever I need help about anything related to my dad, the staff are always ready to assist. Sometimes there are many unsung angels out there and some of them are working in Catherine House Care Home. Thank you.
On entering Catherine House I was impressed with how clean and bright everything looked. I was nervous for my husband but need not have worried. All the staff were kind, helpful and very professional. The room itself was very clean with all the facilities my husband would need. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone to help us.
The staff are very friendly and will do anything for you. I visit most days, they all know me and tell me how things are going. I'm pleased with the service but my friend will say otherwise. Sometimes I think they must be short of staff as for ringing the bell for help. The lights could be brighter in rooms. And when hot, maybe fans in the room.
My father finally left the building on Monday 22nd May 2023. His seventeen months stay at the care home started with Covid still around. The staff were always helpful and obliging. My father's needs were met and I was so grateful for their swift actions in getting me there for his final moments. The compassion shown was so comforting.
On entrance, I find the home clean and tidy, staff are polite and will do anything for you. Always to hand when called to assist my mum who is now 86 years of age.
I've always liked Catherine House Care Home because there is a very genuine caring nature of each resident coming from the manager, nursing and care staff. I have seen my dad feeling a lot more relaxed and I am safe in the knowledge that he is not only well cared for but that the staff genuinely like my dad and work to promote his individual needs. I feel that staff have kept me abreast of any changes in Dad's care plan and even his spiritual needs are cared for.
Beautiful Home, with great staff. Always welcoming and kind to me. Much better than it used to be in the home. Christmas has been set up in the courtyard and looks absolutely lovely. Very nice to see the effort on the first floor.
Well, I can only say that the experience has been excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the manager is fantastic. They all care for my wife's every need, even though she can be difficult at times. I have no worries about the love and care my wife receives.
Catherine House Care Home is a very warm and friendly environment. The staff work hard to keep everyone safe and happy. Plenty of activities happening all the time and many get involved. The food variety is ok and to a good standard.
I have been happy with Catherine House for the time that my husband has been there, being disabled by a stroke in 2018. He is comfortable and relaxed in his room and in the sitting room. The staff are understanding and considerate and aware of the difficulties of the residents. They are always polite with relatives and visitors. I am often offered tea or coffee and even lunch. Hygiene is important and all areas are clean. I have often met the vacuum cleaner in a corridor! Residents who can sit at a table are often busy making decorations for a special day. It is a good place.
My husband has been in Catherine House since July. I was very frightened when they told me he would have to go into a home, but the care he has had at Catherine House is wonderful. The staff are all extremely friendly, kind and as well as looking after my husband, they always ask if I am alright as well. Every day when I go in to see my husband, he looks wonderful, either showered or bed bathed, wet shaved, all clean clothes, wonderful.
We visited Catherine House in December when looking for a care home in From. All staff were helpful and we were able to have a good look at all the facilities available and speak with residents. My father has settled in very well and has gone on several visits arranged for residents, he feels safe and secure in the home and when his wife visits, she is made to feel welcome as indeed we all his family.
