View Full Details of Ivelhurst Nursing Home LtdThe overwhelming feeling I've had since my parents moved here in January is "caring". The staff are so welcoming, warm and attentive, and they carry out their duties not just with speed and quality but with genuine passion and love. I've never experienced anything quite like it. It has made the move a much more pleasant and enjoyable experience than any of us could have wished for. It has put my mind at ease and my parents are just so happy and comfortable. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Thank you to everyone at Ivelhurst.
The care and attention given to my mum was second to none. The staff were first class in every respect and so thoughtful and attentive. I would recommend the home to anyone.
My mother has resided in Ivelhurst Nursing Home for 5 months. I can honestly say I cannot find any fault in the care my mother is receiving. She is always clean. Her room and bedding are always spotless. The food is very good. Mum expresses she enjoys her meals. As a family, we are regularly updated on her wellbeing. The manager regularly sees the residents questioning to ensure they are happy with the care they are receiving. All the staff are kind and extremely respectful.
The care my father is receiving at Ivelhurst is exemplary, and we feel so lucky that there was a place for him when he needed it. He is in the latter stages of dementia. All the staff are kind, compassionate, friendly and caring. From the care and nursing team to the facilities and management team, all are approachable, hands-on and always have time to talk. The activities that are organised for the residents are enjoyable, well-managed and thoughtfully organised. The food is fantastic, especially the cakes! The standard of cleanliness is very high too. All staff treat every resident with the respect, kindness and patience they deserve. It feels that our dear dad has been welcomed into a really caring family at Ivelhurst, and we are welcomed into it too. Knowing he is well cared for, and having such support from all staff, is making a difficult time for us so much easier.
The room is very small - tricky using the hoist. The staff are very friendly and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand because of heavy accent. Particularly tricky for people who have difficulty with their hearing. Management - have responded to some suggestions about various things. Activities - have not seen any so cannot comment. Value for money - not in a position to make a judgment. I would need to see other residential homes and compare prices. The existing hoist used for transferring residents causes great discomfort and fear. Consider different types, please. Laundry - some garments are damaged by too hot water. The building is old and this is reflected in communal facilities, however, this seems to have no impact on the level of care for most residents. My mother prefers to stay in her own room and is not mobile enough to access other rooms, so is not concerned about the modernity or suitability of other rooms. What is most important to all residents must surely be the care and consideration from staff, and in my experience, it is as good as it can be, given the level of staffing - two people most of the time. A third carer would be preferable to prevent delays in responding the the call lines. I realise that there would be a financial consideration to be taken into account but is it a possibility?
Our dear dad has dementia and is being cared for at Ivelhurst Nursing Home. We are very happy with the care he is receiving. All the staff are kind, caring, friendly and helpful. Everywhere is clean. The food is delicious. There are plenty of activities going on to keep the residents entertained and stimulated, it feels like dad is part of a very caring family at Ivelhurset which is so reassuring for us and we are made to feel equally as welcome when we visit.
We unfortunately had to put my mum into end-of-life care and chose Ivelhurst we are very thankful for them because they could not have cared better for my mum than anywhere else. They made us feel so welcome and cared for my mum deeply The staff couldn't do enough for us. I've never been asked if I would like a cup of tea or coffee more than I had when I was there. All the staff were fantastic with mum and made her smile on more than one occasion, which was a great achievement in the condition that she was in. It wasn't just the care team that we knew it was the maintenance man. It was the laundry lady and the man who delivered the tea, coffee and cake every afternoon. Everyone welcomed us every day with a smile which is what we needed, so thank you so much to the staff and to the adorable nurses who made sure my mum was comfortable until she came to pass
The overall view of Ivelhurst Nursing Home is very good. The care is also very good. They could improve the rooms and especially the bathrooms could do with an update as it all looks tired. The stairs could be a hazard to anyone who is mobile. Wish there was more outside space. All the staff are lovely possibly extra lovely with the residents, nurses too are very professional and keep you informed.
Very clean and tidy home. Very friendly staff. My nan looks very well cared for and is happy and safe. Plenty of food and drink always.
My sister and I were extremely happy with the compassionate care our mother received whilst in Ivelhurst Nursing Home. The staff were friendly, kind, and most of all, treated our other as an individual. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ivelhurst. When our mother passed away, my sister and I were given time to grieve and not rushed in any way to vacate her room.
Mum had sarcoma cancer and went into Ivelhurst for palliative care. My mother was alert and full of mental faculties but had a tumour that would take her life. We were tipped off by the hospital that this was a good place to go and it was more than a home from home. The staff are attentive and professional but also an excellent team and happy people. My mum got to know them all well and they cared for mum in every way from health and grooming, to dressing and looking after her needs. As her medical needs grew over time they managed her care with professionalism and dignity. We were welcomed as visitors any time and gave us 6 weeks of a happy time with Mum despite her illness. I could not imagine better care and nursing services. They do really care.
My father was an end-of-life resident, staying from Saturday to Wednesday, NHS-funded. The staff that supported Dad were professional, kind and caring. The owner should be proud of his team. We were very disappointed in the room, outdated furniture, shelves too high which the resident could not see, just not cosy. Difficult to get an ambulance stretcher into the room so had to be hoisted, upsetting for family.
Ivelhurst Nursing Home was phenomenal in looking after my dear father-in-law. My father-in-law only spent a few months in the care home from September 2023 to January 2024 but the professionalism, respect and dignity shown to him in his final days and weeks of life were second to none. My mother-in-law, who visited twice a day, was always kept well informed of the events of the day, the care given and his health reports. The atmosphere of the home is calm and relaxed, everybody is friendly and welcoming. Most importantly it feels like a ‘home’ when you walk in, rather than a medical facility. We will be eternally grateful for the compassion shown to my father-in-law. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this very caring and loving home for anybody looking for support for a loved one.
My mother has been a resident in Ivelhurst Nursing Home for nearly four years. The care provided has been excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. Mum’s behaviour can be challenging but the staff meet regularly and discuss ways of dealing with this, explaining to us what methods are used to manage her care and ensure she is treated with dignity and consideration. She used to enjoy the activities but now prefers to stay in her room, although she is encouraged to join other residents occasionally. Overall, the care she has had has met, if not exceeded, our expectations. Being able to discuss Mum’s situation with the nursing team is reassuring for the family and we are confident in the care provided.
My mother was transferred here from hospital, when I visited an hour or so later she was settled into her bed. First impressions with the forms were good, staff made a good impression on me. Also, the room was warm and cosy, the surroundings clean and well-managed. My mother died here and dealt with the necessary arrangements compassionately. Overall, a good care home.
My mother at the time of this review has been at Ivelhurst for just over a year . Until recently, she was living in the residential area, but with a decline in mobility and general health, has moved to the nursing side. Since admission, Mum has been treated with respect and kindness. Her personal hygiene needs are well cared for. The catering is home-cooked and has the right portion size and frequency to encourage a small, mature appetite. The rooms, although, some are small and don’t all offer views, are kept very clean and well furnished if required. Mum bought lots of personal furniture and effects from home. The staff are welcoming and professional, communicating with respect and affection. I’m so pleased that sadly, as my mother needed full-time care eventually, she came to Ivelhurst.
Staff are always attentive and on hand for any problems. My grandma's room is always clean and tidy. Multiple food options available for each meal, accommodating of her dietary needs. Staff always friendly and clearly are for the residents. Increase in activities in recent months has been good to see. Family kept informed of any changes. Really pleased with this care home - thank you.
Dad is always well cared for, and I am very happy for him to be here as he is safe and no longer has to worry about struggling to manage his needs on his own. Dad's memory is not as good as it used to be, but he doesn't get embarrassed because he is not corrected all the time.
Generally we have found the staff at Ivelhurst to be friendly, efficient and compassionate. My mother-in-law appears well cared for and her wishes are respected. Her practical needs are well met. When we have had an issue eg: the light in the bedroom, it was seen to after the second time we reported it. Our only concern, which is no doubt due to staff being stretched has been lack of supervision if she eats meals in her room.
All staff offer kind service, respecting dignity. They all go the extra mile to meet individual needs. Staff offer reassurance and support to those with dementia to help them understand the interventions carried out.
