View Full Details of Avebury HouseAfter making a difficult decision to place my mum into care, I couldn't be happier with our home of choice. The staff at Avebury house are compassionate and caring and always answer any queries i have. The manager is prompt at responding to me and always available to talk to. I have had a lovely experience considering the decision was so very difficult and most of all mum is extremely happy and thriving. Would recommend Avebury house to anybody.
There is a peaceful calm atmosphere about Avebury House with its lovely view over the garden, trees and canals. I can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and very professional care of my husband who suffered from dementia. It hasn't taken him long to really settle down there. He has plenty of food to eat and his room is kept spotlessly clean. It's a nice place to visit as I am always made to feel very welcome and part of the 'family'.Would highly recommend it to anyone seeing a good care home.
My experience of Avebury House is an extremely positive one. The staff are without exception courteous, obliging and at all times willing to accommodate wherever possible individual requirements. There is a very pleasant garden with tables where residents can sit outside to chat with their visitors and enjoy meals alfresco if they so wish. It is hard to fault the total commitment shown by staff who go beyond the call of duty to ensure that residents are well looked after and happy in this environment. The high standard of in-house catering is also worthy of mention with a good selection of meals always available that are prepared using good quality ingredients. It is most reassuring to know that one's loved ones are being well cared for and are in capable professional hands.
This care home is everything anyone would like for their relations, it's homely, wonderful staff and carers, nothing is too much for them, if you are looking for a care home from home this is the care home for you. All staff from carers to kitchen staff all have a nice word to say to all the residents and relations, nothing is too much for them, not a bad day in the staff, always cheerful no matter what the weather or day is like. Everyone always cheerful to everyone, home from home like one big family.
Dad has been well looked after and cared for. Carers are quick to respond to call bells. He is treated with respect by all members of staff - management, laundry staff and housekeeping included. The staff always have time to talk to him and include him in activities.
The care my friend receives is very good. Staff are friendly and caring, they know me by name and they encourage my friend to now sit out in the lounge and take part in activities where she is able. Unfortunately, the lounges are soulless and need an infusion of colour, the corridors are grey, maybe a blie on this is a good colour for dementia clients and maybe paint the door a bright colour. There is a huge clock which even I struggle to tell the time.
The staff are friendly and professional. We are so glad we chose you to look after our dad.
My father has been a nursing care resident since January and whilst the care home received an inadequate CQC report, I can confirm that Dad has been provided with a lovely spacious room which is kept clean and safe for him. The staff are all wonderful to him and treat him with respect and dignity when they provide him with his care needs. I can see improvements have been made and have been reassured this will continue. Thanks to you all for all you do.
My mum was here 6 months, she was left in bed facing a wall, until I turned her bed around myself, after asking numerous times for it to be done. There were many occasions I would visit and find her wet. There was no bathing or hair wash unless I asked. Always short of staff, no activities. Her belongings would consistently go missing even though they had been labelled. Her meals and drinks would be served in a manner that she would not be able to be consume them as they would be out of her reach or not in a cup she would be able to handle. After having been admitted to hospital, for what should have been a short period, she then had to wait in hospital for 3 months to find a different care home as Avebury House would not allow her to return. I would have residents approaching me visibly upset and distressed asking for help to their rooms on most visits. Not a good experience for my mum and for myself.
Mum spent a year at Avebury House, and after a period of adjustment, she settled in and got to like the company of the residents and became fond of staff members. Avebury House has a lovely, warm, friendly feel and time is taken to make sure residents are included in social activities. Mum died on 28th December. Both she and our family were treated with dignity and loving kindness in those last few days - nothing was too much for the staff. We owe them great thanks.
My impressions are of a well-managed, modern environment staffed by caring people. I found the staff to be particularly helpful as well as patient and respectful toward residents. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home, based on my recent 3-day visit.
My husband was admitted to Avebury House Care Home on February 9th 2022. He had vascular dementia and I was unable to continue care at home. He received the utmost care and consideration as did I. He had several other problems and died in his sleep peacefully and pain-free on October 7th. I would not hesitate to recommend the home. It was clean, food was good and staff were very caring.
Very pleased with the care at Avebury House.
My sister-in-law seems very happy and contented to be in the home, a fact which is of great relief to us given her attachment to her actual home. The main reason is we believe that she is treated with respect and is cared for by staff who are there providing all of the things she feels she needs. I cannot comment on value for money as I am unaware of the financial elements of this.
My sister is contented and our visits to see her are always happy. She loves her room, which I think is rather small and has a very poor outlook. She is also very happy with the staff and the care they provide. I find them very kind and helpful, creating a good atmosphere for everyone.
Very pleased with his care also with communication with the care home is excellent.
I was anxious about visiting my godmother. I hadn’t seen her for a while and I was nervous about going to a care home. I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were kind and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and homely. I am looking forward to my next visit.
The staff are amazing and cared so well for my good friend at Avebury house. I am thoroughly pleased with the care provided and how my friend's needs were being met. Couldn't fault anything! The home was very clean when I visited and the food looked and smelled delicious! Thank you to all of the people involved that work so hard!
Right from the outset the care given to my mother, who arrived following lengthy stays in various hospitals, was outstanding. I was most impressed by the readiness of staff to give their time freely to talk to her, encouraging her to engage with others again. As we live overseas and my mother could not use a phone, the Manager even arranged regular FaceTime video calls on her own phone and the joy it gave my mother was plain to see. When we were able to visit, I was struck by the happy ambience and by the cleanliness and modern state of the rooms and decor. Meals appeared appetising. Little things made a difference, like the siting of a bird feeder outside her window when she was confined to bed. Regular visits by the local GP were, in this age of covid, a very pleasant surprise and when urgent care became necessary this was prompt and effective. The grounds are lovely and the location is quiet, on the edge of town making access easy. She could not have been in a better place.
When my wife arrived there were some settling in problems which were easily resolved by the kind and considerate staff. They have been wonderful with her and helpful and considerate to me.
