View Full Details of Mavern House Nursing HomeAn outstanding home. I visit a friend in the home and I am absolutely amazed at how wonderful all the staff are. They are supportive, kind and caring at all times. Nothing is too much trouble and they still remain kind, gentle and patient even in difficult situations. My friend stays in a beautiful room which overlooks a small patio with squirrels and birds and can watch wildlife daily. This is one of the nicest nursing homes I've been in. Such a lovely home with incredible staff.
The care at Mavern House is ideal for my father's needs. They have excellent experience of dealing with dementia and as a result, my father is calmer and much more himself than in his previous environment. The staff are professional, calm, compassionate and humane and, in my limited experience, the care feels like the gold standard.
My mum has been staying at Mavern for four weeks so far as her bungalow is having work carried out due to potential subsidence. She will now be staying for a lot longer and I am grateful that Mavern can continue to accommodate her. The management team have been very understanding and efficient, the care team professional and the housekeeping team incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is varied, very tasty and cooked on-site. Mavern House feels very homely and a happy place to be. They allow us to bring the family dog in to see her which pleases mum immensely. A big, big thank you to everyone.
My father has been at Mavern House since February 2024. The care he receives is excellent, he is treated with respect and is always clean and tidy. All the carers that I have met so far are kind and very friendly. The management keep me updated with how my father is doing. When visiting Mavern, it's like a home, well looked after, everyone is happy, you are greeted with a smile and a lovely hello from all staff members. The food is good, my father is enjoying it. There are plenty of activities, I can see on their online profile what is happening.
My mother resided at Mavern for her end-of-life care and the last 7 weeks of her life. As soon as we visited the home before she moved in I felt a sense of peace, serenity and calm. This matched the experience we had as a family once Mum moved into the home. The staff are all very caring, supportive and warm; not only to residents but also to their families. My father also lived at the home for the last 3 years of his life 5 years ago. I would highly recommend Mavern as a home-from-home where preserving the dignity of residents and care is at the heart of everything the home does.
Wonderful care home. My dad was in for short respite care. All the staff were incredibly caring and attentive. Communication between staff and families was fantastic. He was very well looked after and completely recovered from a hospital stay. I cannot find fault or recommend it highly enough.
All the carers and managers I have met seem incredibly kind to Mum and do what they can to include her in activities. I am so grateful they can take her for a walk when they can as this makes her really happy.
Always get such a lovely feeling when we visit the resident. It’s clear how much the staff care about the elders. Mavern House Nursing Home is an amazing home from home, cannot recommend it enough. Our relative had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave her home of over 60 years and has loved every minute of relocating to Mavern.
It's never an easy decision to release a loved one's care to an organisation. My nephew, niece and my nephew's wife made that decision when it became evident my brother could be putting himself in harms way. I applaud them. I also applaud the staff, all the staff, of Maver House. In the time my brother has been a guest at Mavern House my wife and I have visited Mavern House numerous times and the general attitude and atmosphere around the care of their guests has been exemplary, caring and knowledgeable. All the staff we have interacted with new who we were and about my brother from our very first visit. It's heartening to walk away from Mavern House knowing he is in the care such a committed group of people. My wife and I feel so happy, and relieved, for my brother and his children that they found Mavern House. Thank you.
I cannot praise Mavern House Nursing Home enough and would thoroughly recommend this home for loved ones. I have only been here for a week’s respite until I move into my bungalow but feel I am part of a loving, caring family. Everybody is so friendly and helpful and cannot do enough to help you. The food is excellent especially the pork roast last Sunday. I will miss you all. Take care.
My dad recently went into Mavern House to receive end-of-life care when his health deteriorated rapidly, and he could no longer continue to live at home. The home is a very special place, with a very welcoming and happy feel to it. All the staff were absolutely amazing, and the care and support they provided to my dad was so heartwarming. He was treated with such kindness, dignity and compassion by everyone. We could not have wished for a better place for Dad to have been in the final weeks of his life. As a family, we are so thankful that we found Mavern House, and would highly recommend them.
My late father was transferred to Mavern House from the hospital as end-of-life care was needed. Mavern House is a very special place and the care and compassion shown to my father, for his remaining days, will remain with me for the rest of my life. The management team and all of the staff treated my father with genuine kindness and dignity. The communication was first class and I was kept updated at all times. This made a huge difference to our family and was a great comfort during a very difficult and emotional time.
We found Mavern House online as we needed to find respite for dad. He stayed for three weeks over Christmas and New Year. From our first phone call, the care and compassion shown to dad and us all was second to none. Any anxieties we had at leaving him were dispelled as we all felt he would be in safe hands. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, and mum was invited for Christmas Dinner. Which she thoroughly enjoyed. The home itself is kept to a high standard, very homely and relaxing. You could be as involved as you liked with the afternoon activities. Dad benefited greatly from all the interaction. I would not hesitate in recommending Mavern House to anyone. Definitely five stars from us.
Last year, my Dad, who was struggling with vascular dementia, was taken to hospital after a stroke. He was largely left on his own and very soon became extremely distressed and depressed. Fortunately, we found Mavern House, which is close by. Mavern has a lovely, homely atmosphere and you can feel the caring culture as soon as you come through the front door. The staff are all extremely kind, caring, and diligent. The Manager made it very easy for us to move Dad into his room and my Mum, who is now 83, was made to feel very welcome and join in with whatever activities were being arranged. The team took the time to help Dad get out of bed and socialise. Later, as he deteriorated, they took special care to make sure that he was not left alone and received the care that he needed. I am very relieved that we did not leave him in hospital and have no reservations in recommending Mavern and their lovely, caring team, to anybody.
I would like to thank all the Mavern staff for taking such good care of my father. My father went in on respite care, and sadly he passed away in November, but the care he received could not have been better. Mavern is a very special place, and that's down to the dedicated and amazing staff that work there. Everybody is just so lovely and so caring. Not only did the staff look after my father and provide exemplary end-of-life care, but they also took care of us as a family at a very difficult time. We visited daily, and the staff always remembered our names and took the time to update us and keep us informed of any changes in my father's medical condition. In my dad's final days, they gave us drinks and food and showed genuine concern for us as well as our father. As a family, we were so reassured by the excellent care he was given, and when end-of-life care was needed, the nursing staff were amazing. They treated my father with dignity and compassion. I cannot praise the staff highly enough.
Very caring staff who always made family welcome and treated my nana as family too. Always kept me well informed of how my nana was doing and her end-of-life care was personal and always so kind. The home had a friendly atmosphere, I was so happy my nana had her final years in this nursing home.
From our first discovery visit to Mavern House we knew this was the right home for Mum. The entire team at Mavern are welcoming and loving. Their primary concern is the welfare, happiness and quality of life of the residents. Nothing is too much trouble and there's always an inclusive and fun environment. Mum has retained her wicked sense of humour after her stroke and the team at Mavern picked up on this straight away and have embraced it. Mum's comfort zone is Mavern and that gives us comfort. We are eternally grateful for the care, respect and genuine love for Mum that is given by all at Mavern.
My mum has been at Mavern for 5 years now following a severe stroke. The team treat Mum like family. She is very well cared for and loved by every member of staff there. Her needs are met and people take the time to know what her preferences are, what her interests are etc. We couldn't have asked for better care during such an emotional time.
Can't recommend this care home highly enough. My grandmother arrived in their care during lockdown and we have seen how fantastically the whole team worked together under all the restrictions to keep their elders safe. Now that those restrictions have mostly been lifted we can see the open home-from-home community they strive to create. The whole team (nurses, carers, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen staff and management) treat the elders they come into contact with daily with dignity and respect whilst welcoming family members to drop in whenever they wish. Couldn't ask for more.
My father was a resident in Mavern for 15 years. He received excellent care from the date of his admission until he passed away in August 2022. The staff were caring compassionate and empathetic. My father (and the rest of our family) formed strong bonds with the staff. I can thoroughly recommend Mavern House to any potential resident.
