View Full Details of Barchester Milford House Care HomeI was apprehensive putting my mum in a care home. Well i am so suprised what a fantastic home this is. Beautifully done out lovely rooms but most of all the staff are amazing. The manager, the nurses and the carers are empathetic caring and wonderful. Last week me and my sister thought we were losing out Mother. The Milford care home gave us a room each and all meals. How wonderful of them. The food was lovely and each and everyone of the staff was empathetic and caring. Amazing home I'm so happy my mum is in here. 10/10 to all the staff!
The Family of and myself can't thank the general manager and her staff at Milford House Care Home, Salisbury for their truly professional care of our mother. Nothing is too much trouble and their attention to detail and empathy is second to none. Chef ensured she had the food she liked which was very important as we all thought she was passing away the weekend of the 6th March. She was very, very ill and I came over from Spain to be with her, my sister and I were made very welcome and were looked after as if we were in a 5* Hotel. We were all prepared for the worst and then by a miracle she pulled through due to the excellent care of the nursing staff and carers, who guided her through the bad times and of course her loving family. Mum is happy in her lovely room with TV, hairdresser saloon, spa and beautiful gardens. We would highly recommend Milford House for its wide range of facilities and loving care and the experienced management team.
My mother moved in following a fall. The care was excellent, the staff went to great lengths to encourage her to eat and drink. She attended several activities and particularly enjoyed the music sessions and the creative arts. We also appreciated the care and support given to us by the staff following her passing on Christmas Eve.
I joined Barchester Milford House Care Home at very short notice to convalesce following surgery. All the staff are both pleasant and professional. Both nursing and care staff always went the extra mile to provide for my needs. Dining was a pleasure - lovely food (and snacks). I hope that if I ever need such support in later life, I will find somewhere as homely and helpful as Milford House.
What can I say other than my 97-year-old mum received the best care we could possibly have wished for during her final two weeks of life. Treated with dignity and excellent care from all the staff. A huge thank you from myself and all my family.
I am a regular visitor, I have eaten there and participated in some of the many activities. The staff are always very welcoming and attentive and there is a real feeling that it is a home rather than an institution. Those living there always seem happy and well cared for.
After four turbulent weeks between wards in the wonderful hospital, my grandma came to Barchester Milford House Care Home for end-of-life care. The last weeks of her 97 years were dignified and peaceful. The manager and all her team could not do enough for us at all hours of the day and night. Grandma was afforded excellent nursing care in the quiet and comfort of a five-star hotel. A tremendous thank you to all and I felt such a connection to them, I asked if I could volunteer there.
My stepmother moved here in Autumn 2019 and has been very well cared for - treated with respect, cheerful friendliness and kindness. She felt part of the community of residents and staff. She became very unwell and received end-of-life care at home which helped give her peace. I am very grateful to the team for their care.
Management was very pleasant. Some carers were very poor in their attitude and not understanding of the situation. I thought that the food was poor quality and didn't enjoy the meals. The day trip on a boat was most enjoyable. Overall, it turned out to be a not very enjoyable but expensive two weeks.
My friend experienced nothing but kindness and respect during his last few weeks of life when he came to Barchester Milford House Care Home. It was a relief to see him visibly happy and he was able to trust those who were caring for him. As visitors, we were very impressed. A tranquil confidence exuded each time we visited my friend. Thank you for helping him to end his life in peace and with dignity.
One cannot expect perfection as we who have been asked to make the judgements have good days and bad days. Routines get disturbed. However, my 90th birthday last week showed up the loving, inspired party planner's skills; getting to know me, what and why I love the birds, flowers and butterflies to decorate the dining table making it worthy of the delicious meals the chefs create. The festive air brought out happy greetings from those coming and going on daily rounds. No better care home is there.
My mother had requested a bird-themed table setting for her 90th birthday party. Milford House Care Home surpassed all expectations - providing a log from one carer's garden that was decorated with little bird figures, including a nut hatch and a woodpecker. It was truly delightful and quite beautiful. They were so kind towards her and I think have made one person extremely happy and created amazing memories of a blessed day. Thank you.
I'd like to relay my thanks to the activities team for inviting me to a special Father's Day lunch. It was a lovely idea, in a relaxed setting, with wine and table decorations. The team are always looking for new activities that are suitable for the residents, including outings.
Thanks for organising a Father's Day lunch. A really nice idea as it is sometimes hard to take Dad out for a meal. Also, nice to get some of the male residents together for a change. Perhaps something could be done to get them together to watch some matches in the Euros too (ladies also invited!) Please do it again.
My friend was very reluctant and apprehensive about having to go into a care home. When his circumstances changed and he moved into Milford House Care Home, he soon settled in and is now extremely happy to be living there. He is very well looked after and enjoys the delicious food they provide. All the staff are warm, friendly and very helpful. There is a lovely family atmosphere in the home. I can't praise them enough, especially the manager, for the wonderful work they do.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Milford House Nursing Home. Dad was a resident for just over 2 years. The staff worked with Dad and saw his personality which allowed him to feel comfortable and safe, such a gift for his family. Special thanks to the activity team for the outings that Dad so enjoyed and gave meaning to his life. Also thank you for the love, care and compassion shown to all the family.
My sister and I were extremely emotional when our 90-year-old mother was deemed unsafe to be at home, due to her frailty and dementia. Barchester Milford House Care Home has dispelled all of our worries. All of the staff are so kind and caring and we thank them all. Also, our thanks to the manager for working so hard to secure a place for Mum. We could not be happier with Milford House, a safe and secure environment with a happy atmosphere.
Overall, good. I was welcomed and cared for as needed, not that I needed much except for helping me shower and dispense medicines. My partner had the luxury of two weeks without having to care for me, which was well worth the expense. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. A few details: 1) I was a bit disappointed in the 'institutional-style' food. I realise that you are constrained here by the needs of some of the residents. It was disappointing not to have any form of dressing for the salads - surely a sachet of vinaigrette or mayonnaise could be provided. 'Unimaginative' would be my description. 2) I felt that the management side was a bit weak. I'd asked when arriving if a visit from a chiropodist to cut my toenails could be arranged. I was told it would be, but nothing happened. 3) I got the impression that you are understaffed, not helped by the kitchen refurbishment. 4) The housekeeping was a bit chaotic: dirty towels left on the toilet floor weren't cleared away.
My mother went to Milford House for two weeks of respite. Initially, she did not like it, but by the end of her stay, she did not want to go home. The staff were all lovely and made my mother's stay really super.
I conclude my stay at Barchester Milford House Care Home with having met wonderful people, who have shown me care and respect. My respite turned out to be a wonderful holiday. I sincerely hope that I shall be accepted back if the time arose that my daughter needed a break away again. I have loved everyone that I have met, I shall take away treasured memories. I pray that God will bless you all and those you care for. Please continue the good work in every department.
