View Full Details of The Old Parsonage Nursing & Care HomeMy husband has been a resident with early onset dementia for about 8 months and I can't fault the way he has been looked after. The staff are all wonderful and always seem to have his best interests at heart. He has become more settled since he has been there and I always feel really welcome when I visit him.
I have previously written a review but feel the need to do another. No nursing home can stop COVID or any other bug from coming into the home, all they can do is react to it and boy I am so impressed at the speed at which the manager and staff at The Old Parsonage act swiftly to shield their residents. Even a simple bug can have a devastating impact on the overall health of the residents and I am so grateful to all the staff for their exceptional care and vigilance. Mum has little communication ability now, but when she does, it's always with a big smile on her face. It gives me so much comfort to know that she is happy. Thank you all.
I was filled with dread and misgivings when I was told my beloved husband had to go into a nursing home due to deterioration of brain injury/dementia. I had been his full-time carer at home for many years and was doubtful that I would ever be able to accept him into someone else's care. I was wrong. I had read reviews on The Old Parsonage which were all excellent. Only a ten-minute drive from our home. While there I witnessed the genuine care and understanding of the staff. Other residents suffering from similar cruel illnesses and yet 'the girls' treated each one of them as an individual. They got to know my husband and his 'ways'. His likes and dislikes. It felt like home. They were one big family. I was lucky to become part of that family. The staff provided me with hugs and comforting words. The Manager and your team, of dedicated staff are a credit to you. The food too was lovely. Thank you to all the kitchen staff and to the lady for doing his laundry. I will miss you.
My Grandad was going in for rest bite for a week, after 2 days Grandad wanted to stay as he felt so loved and at home there. Grandad was only at The Parsonage for 4 weeks due to his battle with cancer, but these 4 weeks brought so much happiness to him. Every member of staff was wonderful and took time out each day to say hello to Grandad and would often come in for a cup of tea and a chat. I felt so grateful that we found this wonderful home, each day when I said goodbye I knew he was in safe hands. Personal hygiene service, Grandad looked a million dollars after his first shower, shave, hair cut and change of clothes. Pedicure, best ever were the words from Grandad. This care home is bursting with love and memories of people who have been lucky enough to of stayed. Thank you so much to the manager and her wonderful kind caring team. A special love to one staff member who made my Grandads time so special.
My mum was here for just three months with dementia, she was well cared for by all the lovely staff. She was made to feel welcome and so were we, her family. My mum's time was short here as she passed away peacefully in October 2022. I wish we had found this care home sooner for her, rather than her previous one.
Our mother moved into The Old Parsonage Nursing & Care Home in November 2022 and sadly passed away recently. During her stay, our mother received excellent care and support, which set our minds at rest. All caring, nursing and support staff were professional and took the time to get to know Mum and her ways. When required towards the end, palliative care was professionally provided in a very caring way making our mother's end of life comfortable and peaceful. We would like to thank all staff for providing superb care for our mother.
My mum stayed at The Old Parsonage Nursing & Care Home for two months before she sadly passed away. In her time there she was shown a high standard of care and compassion. The whole team are so lovely and helpful. Mum was very happy there. I felt very happy knowing Mum was looked after and safe. I would recommend The Old Parsonage to anyone looking for a nursing home.
My Pa spent the last six months of his life at The Old Parsonage, sadly passing away in the early hours of the 9th December. The care, compassion and pure love he received was also shared with all of us. What a remarkable place and the team we were blessed to find. We had total peace of mind knowing the team there were caring for him. They deserve the banner of Platinum Care Givers due to their truly outstanding dedication and care. Every single member of the team has clearly been chosen for their wonderful qualities and warmth. From every member of our family, we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for making his end-of-life care as dignified as possible. Bless them all.
My lovely dad is in the care of The Old Parsonage and we feel blessed he is in such a warm, professional, caring and family environment. The home is managed beautifully by the manager who is a credit to the nursing and care system. All the staff that I have personally met, have been so kind and professional. Of course, I would prefer my lovely dad to be back home, but his advanced dementia means he cannot be. But I would not want him anywhere else now. Thank you team Old Parsonage for your continued care of my dad.
I visit every week with my husband and my dog. They have been very sympathetic about the residents of ours, as we are near the beginning of dementia. All the staff are friendly and welcoming to us and my little dog. They keep us informed about everything to do with the resident. They have all the resident's best interests all the time.
My father was a resident here for 4 months. The journey with dementia had been tough, as it is for so many families. We chose this home as it was small and family orientated. The ethos of the home is exactly that. The home manager runs the home with compassion and an understanding of family values. My dad sadly passed away here in June 2022. We were treated with the utmost understanding, surrounded by love, dignity and care by all these wonderful carers. I can say that my family were so pleased to find this home. Thank you to everyone at this home for making this journey bearable.
My partner spent the last 18 months of his life in the care of the Manager and Staff at the Old Parsonage. His condition (PSP/CBD) was a rare, degenerative, neurological disease which presented significant challenges. The manager and staff of the Old Parsonage were absolutely wonderful and throughout, treated my partner with compassion, dignity and warmth. As his partner, I was kept informed of all concerns and developments and was told that I too, was considered part of this extended nursing home family, which meant I felt included, supported and listened to. The skill set of the staff was excellent and all, without exception, were so very kind and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. This manager (who is exceptional) and staff have a real vocation for the work they do. Exemplary care. I cannot thank them enough.
My Aunt has now been at The Old Parsonage for eight months and we can't fault the care that she has had during that time. Aunty arrived at the home after a difficult four months where she had been in three different care homes and six weeks in hospital. This was all during Covid-19 when there were no visitors, which was very distressing for her and the family. The Old Parsonage (which is much smaller than the other homes) has a lovely, homely feel about it and there is always plenty of staff around to discuss how Aunty has been. We weren't sure if Aunty would settle but from day one the Manager and her staff have been amazing. Aunty was initially in an upstairs room which didn't suit her, they moved her downstairs and has now settled in really well. As it is quite a small home, all the staff know Aunty and the family really well and they are always so welcoming when we visit. The care is wonderful, and we are able to visit whenever we want. We can't thank the staff enough for all they do for Aunty.
If I could only use one word for the care, compassion and respect that the manager and all the staff have for the residents and visitors, it would be outstanding. My husband came to The Old Parsonage in June 2022 and has received the best of care. Everyone who works at this care home shows exceptional teamwork and dedication. It is a home that is welcoming, with staff who deem it their vocation to look after their residents to the highest standards with the greatest care and respect. I know I leave my husband in safe and caring hands and have no hesitation in highly recommending this lovely home.
After visiting countless care homes to find respite care for my father, all of which were large and institutional, the Old Parsonage was a breath of fresh air. A small and personal care home where everything is on a human scale and the staff get to know their residents and families well. You can find more attractive rooms and smarter furniture elsewhere, but these are not the things that will make your elderly relative happy. Caring, cheerful staff, with oodles of kindness and patience, will. The manager manages the Old Parsonage with care, compassion and cheeriness and was always active in discussing and anticipating Dad’s needs. The Old Parsonage has its priorities right - the needs of its residents. So we were able to visit frequently, despite covid, which is essential to the wellbeing of a confused, elderly person. Dad sadly only lived for six months as a resident at the Old Parsonage, but he was happy, cared for and respected and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to other families.
This home deserves the highest recognition for its standard of care. I wrote a review back in 2018 a few months after my husband moved into this wonderful care home. Sadly my husband passed away at the end of January 2022. I can honestly say for the past 3 years and 8 months, I could not find fault with this home, the level of care is impeccable. I cannot thank the team of staff enough for the loving care given to my husband and myself over the last few years. I applaud the manager who puts her heart and soul into this home and is completely involved in every aspect of her role, resulting in the smooth running, deeply caring, happy, warm, friendly home. You would have to go a long way to find a more loving, more caring, well organised home than this. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
My late wife was moved from Hospital on 22nd March 2021. She was in the final stage of Vascular Dementia amd other health problems. From the moment she arrived there until her death on 29.05.21 the nursing care delivered was of exceptionally high quality. The Nursing Home was extremely efficiently run by the manager and staff while at the same time showed exemplary empathy, patience and kindness. Bearing in mind Covid-19 restrictions, every effort was made to help family members to visit within the rules set by the health authorities. I only hope that should I require nursing care in the future, there will be a place for me. My wife had suffered from this disgusting disease for nearly 4 years and at least the last few weeks of her life were free from pain and afforded the dignity and comfort she deserved. Thank you.
When Dad moved to The Old Parsonage following a prolonged stay in the hospital, we were concerned that he would not settle. Dad had been hoping to return home, but circumstances would not allow it to happen. We need not have worried. Dad received a very good level of personal care, and all the staff were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The home itself was very clean and pleasant, and there was always plenty of staff on hand. Due to Covid restrictions, our interaction with the home was limited, but we found them very accommodating; more than we would have expected. We would not hesitate to recommend The Old Parsonage to others.
In August 2019, I received the distressing news that the nursing home in which my father was residing was to be closed. On contacting The Old Parsonage to see if there were any vacant rooms, I spoke with the deputy manager who couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive at a very worrying time. Arrangements were immediately and efficiently made and my father was promptly welcomed and settled at The Old Parsonage. The whole team do a fantastic job. The management is excellent and staff, however busy, always make time to reassure and discuss aspects of the individual’s care.
My husband has had the most wonderful care since he has been in the Old Parsonage, from August 2018 until he passed away on 23rd November 2019. The staff are excellent and have a fantastic manager, they all go well beyond what would be expected of them. There are welcoming smiles from them all and I and my family could not have been more satisfied with everything. Thank you all so much.
