View Full Details of Fitzwarren HouseFitzwarren House is an exceptional palace and we are so glad it was recommended to us. Every member of staff has shown kindness and compassion; the quality of the care here is outstanding. We would like to thank you all for your hard work and professionalism. Very best wishes.
My mum came to this care home in October 2024. Although it is still a fairly recent admission to make a more detailed review, based on my experience on visits to my mum so far, she is settling in well and is starting to feel relaxed and happy in her new surroundings. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and the facilities plus the food and activities are of a high standard.
All very good
My husband was admitted to Fitzwarren House in November and he has been a difficult patient due to his illness but he staff have been wonderful.
My Dad has been in Fitzwarren House since July 2024. The Care he receives is above and beyond. My Dad has flourished here with the Care and Attention he has from his Nurses and Carers. We cannot Thank everyone enough.
My dad came to this care home in July and we cannot believe the improvement in him. He a much happier person and treated so kindly by everyone here. They take the time to listen and help. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is of very high standard but the personal touch is second to none!
Fitzwarren House is a clean homely environment with decent range of facilities. I cannot speak highly enough of staff dedication to their work. All demonstrate kindness and compassion towards residents, and encourage interaction in activities, and not forgetting those behind scenes who ensure everything runs smoothly. There's always contact between visits with any relevant updates on mum's condition, which is reassuring. Key to wellbeing is being treated with dignity, and my observations and her behaviour suggest this is satisfied.
Mum is very happy here and has a lovely group of friends that she spends time with daily. There is an social medial group that keeps families up to date with photos of all the activities mum is involved in and she's attends pretty much all of them. The staff are lovely and I couldn't wish for a better group of people to care for her. All of the staff in the care home are friendly and approachable and helpful at all times. I would highly recommend Fitzwarren house and my mum would definitively match my recommendation.
Not only am I the POA to the resident, I am also the Goddaughter. I have a major commitment to my own frail mother which takes much of my time. Having the Manager and her team at Fitzwarren House caring for the complex needs of my Godmother. I can rest knowing all her needs are being fulfilled 100%. Having placed another dear friend in the same home six years ago, I couldn't have been happier that Fitzwarren House was able to care for another resident who was also my responsibility. Fitzwarren House has high standards, the standards we want for people we care about.
My mother is very comfortable at Fitzwarren House care home. Carers are reassuring and informative to residents and family. Staff and carers made my mother's 95th birthday a special day, memorable. Can't think of anywhere else better.
Lovely staff are very helpful. Always made to feel welcome. Mum is happy there and settled. Activities can be lots of fun for her, just sad she can never remember them. She likes the food, mum has a choice daily and the staff have a laugh with her.
My mother came into Fitzwarren House mid July 2024 and is still a resident now. By August 2024 we had noticed what a difference her being in the home was making to her. She gained weight, was encouraged, was nursed, was very well cared for and so were we as a family. All of the staff cared for us and would keep up us in the loop when mum needed a doctor or any outside help. We greatly appreciate the loving care and respect that is given to mum.
This is an excellent care-home. I have added the star ratings below which give a good overview of our view of the care home. This is based on two years of experience of this care home, although we have had neighbours who have stayed here.
Mum has been a resident for 15 months, since several falls which resulted in being unsafe to be at home alone. Since moving in she has had the opportunity to do activities and socialise, which has helped her confidence and mood. She loves her own room and ability to have her own things around her. She also enjoys sitting on the balcony in the summer, which is situated well for the sun and covered in plants and flowers. Mum also enjoys her meals which she can enjoy in her room or with others in the dining room. The choice of food and meal portions are always appetising. When we had to find a home for mum Fitzwarren was highly recommended and it has not disappointed. The staff are friendly and work hard to provide high quality care in an ambient atmosphere. The senior staff are highly professional and provide effective communication regarding care and any updates. They also are supportive when meeting individual needs and understand the importance of maintaining independence.
My mother has been at Fitzwarren House for the past 8 months and I have nothing but praise to offer. As mum's health began to deteriorate we were faced with the daunting decision to move her from an independent living retirement home to a nursing home. Whilst my father was cared for splendidly 6 years ago at Fitzwarren Court we nevertheless looked at options for mum's care needs. After checking out other care homes we, as a family, all agreed that Fitzwarren House still stood out miles above all other local homes and therefore concluded it was the right place for mum. Mum is shown the most upmost respect by each and every member of staff. All her needs are fully met and she regularly expresses how cared for she feels. On days when she feels a little down due to her health there are regular visits from staff who go above and beyond to help lift her mood. The site itself if spotless and provides an environment which is safe and helps all residence maintain a relaxing lifestyle.
The best thing that ever happened to me was when my aunt got a place at Fitzwarren House. My aunt didn't arrive in the best of health - she had been at another home - which didn't work out. When she first arrived there - in December 2018 - I honestly didn't think she would make Christmas - 6 and a bit years later she is happy and healthy. I feel quite emotional as we owe everything to the care she has received at Fitzwarren House. My aunt always took pride in her appearance - but with dementia she is not the person she once was. If your family member is the same or similar you will know what I mean. However she has her hair done regularly - which she loves and is always dressed well - again something she loves. When we visit she is always smiling, happy and having a laugh with the staff. I thank the day I got my aunt into Fitzwarren house - as I now sleep well and know she could not receive better care - in-fact the staff take pride in their high standards.
Fitzwarren House has been excellent for my wife. I am more than happy that she receives very good care, day and night. The staff are all very friendly and jolly and are uplifting when they tend her. Her needs are all catered for and she wants for nothing. She gets taken to all activities that she enjoys, like music therapy, Church Services and also some games. The home is kept to a high standard, clean, tidy and brightly decorated. The general feel for the home when I visit is always a happy, homely, positive experience. This was the only home in Swindon I felt comfortable leaving my wife in, and I still feel the same way.
The home is always maintained to a high standard. The staff are always welcoming and kind nothing is too much trouble and they create a safe and homely environment. Management are excellent and ensure there is clear communication on personal matters (health appointments etc). The team are approachable and helpful, particularly if you have any questions or queries you want to discuss compared to other homes I have visited people in recently in Swindon, Fitzwarren clearly stands out to me as superior and continues to be the best place for my mum to receive exceptions care in - she clearly expresses this through her constant comfort and contentment there. Thank you!
I write this review in appreciation for the exceptional care proved to my wife in Fitzwarren House. The professionalism, and dedication of the entire team have made a significant different in our lives. From day one the staff at Fitzwarren House have shown nothing but kindness and respect. In an environment where my wife feels safe and comfortable. The caregivers are not only highly skilled but also incredibly empathetic. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that my wife receives the best possible care, attending to her medical needs as and when needed with precision and care. The cleanliness and organisation of the facility are impeccable and the actives and programs offered have greatly enriched my wife's quality of life. The team at Fitzwarren House provides a nurturing and stimulating environment. I am deeply grateful for the peace of mind that comes from knowing my wife is in such capable hands. I wholeheartedly recommend Fitzwarren House to anyone in need of excellent care for their loved ones.
My wife has been a resident of Fitzwarren House for 5 years. She suffers from severe Alzheimer's, is chair bound and doubly incontinent. She often presents challenging behaviour. She is kept scrupulously clean is well nourished and receives kind patient and cheerful attention from all the staff caring and domestic. She has a single ensuite room well equipped to serve her needs. Efforts are made to integrate her into the communal life of the home and to stimulate her with games, exercises, live entertainment and techniques to promote speech and conversation. She also has access (in her wheelchair) to a large sheltered and well maintained garden. I cannot speak too highly of the staff and the strength of resident centred care.
