View Full Details of Rose Cottage Nursing HomeMy mother has been a resident of Rose Cottage for almost a year and since then her general well being and health has improved due to the care of the management and staff. They keep me well informed of any health issues and are quick to react. Residents are encouraged to eat in the communal dining room and attend activities. The staff even send pictures of my mum enjoying the activities. My father was a resident for three years under different owners and whilst his care needs were well met and the staff caring and competent the facilities and building itself were dated. There has been considerable work, money and effort by the new owners and the home is now bright, airy and well furnished with a lovely garden area where they have hosted family BBQs. Employee turn over is low with most of the original staff there from the days my father was a resident. Rose cottage is small with 20 rooms so it has a general feeling of a family home. Our family could not be more pleased with her care.
My older brother has now gone into this home since the end of January. The home was recommended to me by a friend who is already a resident, who moved there from another Nursing home, to find it far better. The staff are very patient, interact well with the residents and make this a very 'happy' home. There is always activities going, the meals are good and both staff & management are extremely helpfull and caring - it is like joining a new and happy family!
Rose Cottage has such a wonderful, homely atmosphere and such excellent caring staff which I highly recommend. Unfortunately, my 94 year old Aunt did not have long there but received the best care while she was. I wish she had had longer there as she was happy and that was the most important thing, as she had spent weeks bedbound in hospital, where no one has time to spend with patients. At Rose Cottage she was treated so well, with care and kindness by all the nurses. Her nurse washed her hair which she hadn't had done for weeks which made her feel and look so much better, they cut her nails and even fed her tea to her. We had cups of tea and coffee made for my wife and I when visiting and the staff had time to talk to us about her. All in all, we wished she could have gone to Rose Cottage much sooner and been looked after so well in such a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a home for a loved one.
Mum has now been resident for 6 months and I can honestly say how happy she is, which in turn makes us as a family happy too. The staff are caring, friendly and so dedicated, not only to Mum but to us as a family. Not only are there ongoing improvements in the home the outside gardens are looking lovely too. I am due to have an operation shortly and already staff have said not for me to worry, anything Mum needs they will get. I refer to the extras that we take in for Mum. This is like a home from home for Mum. Recently Mum was under the weather whilst I was visiting, with the quick response from the nurse Mum was on antibiotics and starting her road back to recovery. I know Mum is safe and well looked after which takes a big pressure from me. Thank you to all the Staff at Rose Cottage.
My friend has been a resident of Rose Cottage since Sept 2021. He is very happy at this home and enjoys being cared for by the friendly staff who look after all his needs. Overall Rose Cottage gives him both safety and security - which is very reassuring for him, his family and friends.
The care my grandmother is receiving is amazing, she looks healthy, clean, happy. It was a heart wrenching decision to move her to a care home, but after many falls we realised she needed more help. The moment we walked into Rose Cottage we felt welcome, it is small and cosy, the staff are so friendly. My grandmother is enjoying the lovely freshly cooked meals and is eating better than ever. We now have peace of mind she is safe and well looked after.
My mother has resided in Rose Cottage since January and since she arrived there her general well-being has improved a great deal due to the considerate, consistent care she receives. She is very happy to be there as a resident and has got to know the staff well - they are very friendly and treat her almost as family, keeping her smiling. The care and nursing staff are always professional and friendly towards visitors and they inform me very quickly if they have any concerns about Mum's health. This may be a small home compared with some in the locality but from what I've seen they offer the same range of facilities as the larger establishments and I'm sure that being relatively small makes for a more personal experience for the residents. I greatly recommend Rose Cottage to anyone looking for a nursing home in the area.
My mother has been in Rose Cottage for just over a year, compared with previous homes Rose Cottage is the best one in all aspects. My mother is well looked after, her health has improved and she is more aware since she moved in. Her room is always clean and well furnished and we always get a cup of tea on visits. The staff are very friendly and her needs are forefront in their work, nothing is too much trouble for them and they always have a smiling face and work extremely hard to keep the home in tip-top condition. Management keep us well informed on her health and well-being, always informing us on how she is keeping and are quick to react if she has a problem in health or something else. For us, we very well pleased with Rose Cottage and we wished we got her in much sooner.
I did a review of Rose Cottage a year ago and was more than happy with Mum's care at that time. I would like to add to that now, please. Since new staff members have taken over the care has improved further. The atmosphere is light and bright and not just because of the new decor, the residents are more alert and happy to engage with visitors and staff alike. This is also down to the increase in activities. I visit at least twice a week and always get told how Mum is doing and given a short update on her care plan. The home is also engaging more with the community and residents have been attending the Memory Cafe run by the Parish Council. I do not hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage to everyone in the area.
My brother has lived at Rose Cottage for four years. He suffers from Parkinson's and early-onset Dementia. I feel great comfort that he is treated with dignity and respect. He is also encouraged to eat meals in the dining room with other residents and take part in activities, even though he doesn't always want to. The home is always clean with a high standard of hygiene, and the food is good too. The management and staff are always cheerful, kind, caring and friendly. The home has a low turnover of staff, resulting in my brother knowing everyone on a first-name basis. I am contacted quickly if there are any health problems, and the doctor is called promptly as necessary. As I live in Cornwall, I am not able to visit as often as I'd like to; however, provision is made for me to Skype with my brother at pre-arranged times, which is great as at least we can speak face-to-face. I can recommend Rose Cottage to anyone who is looking for total peace of mind that their relatives are well cared for.
Another 12 months having passed with our Mother resident at Rose Cottage, we can honestly say this has been a trying time for the family due to ill health and age-related issues, however the staff and management at Rose Cottage have kept us informed on all matters and relayed doctor's recommendations in detail to ensure we the family are fully aware of what is being done to look out for our mother. They have put Mum's well-being to the forefront, and have shown care and kindness towards her over and above what anyone could reasonably expect. Mum has improved albeit she has age-related issues, but she is happy, she cannot praise the staff enough, they are caring, compassionate, and extremely professional in all they do. After 2+ years of care, we would not hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage. As we said before, we cannot fault the care she receives Mum is happy at Rose Cottage and so are we. Thank you to all the staff for being so kind and caring in looking after our loved one.
Mother has been a resident now for 12 years, she's very happy there. The staff are attentive to her needs and very respectful of her dignity. They are very quick to contact me if there's something that needs attention or needs my approval. their communication is second to none. The home is very well maintained and always clean. Mum's hygiene seems excellent. She has access to a hairdresser and chiropodist which she loves. couldn't ask for better carers. There is a low turnover of staff so the staff really care and take great pride in their job and do a top-notch job of caring for the residents, as they know the likes and dislikes as well as all the little quirks of their residents.
The owner, manager and staff really make this a very caring care home. Covid precautions were handled brilliantly and now are at a minimal but safe level. I would not hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone looking for a safe and friendly home for their loved one.
My dad moved into Rose Cottage in July 2021, having lived in Berkshire most of his life independently but due to failing health, we had to make a difficult decision that a Nursing Home was the safest option for his ongoing care needs. Since his arrival at Rose Cottage in extremely difficult times with Covid, it took a while for him to adjust and settle in but throughout all of this all the nurses, staff, and management have welcomed, supported, and been amazing at building a trusting bond with my dad that we have seen, giving him a choice and allowing him to be Independent in a safe environment. Nothing is too much trouble and when medication or doctors are needed the staff ensure this is done promptly, it has been so reassuring to myself and my partner who have been supporting him and has allowed us to enjoy our time with my dad. We can't thank all members of the Team who truly do an amazing job in difficult times. Knowing my dad is cared for and happy means everything to us.
If you had told me in January 2021 that my strong independent mum, then 96, would love her nursing home, I would have said no chance but she does. She loves Rose Cottage and all the staff. I am stunned by her transformation from how she was in February 2021 until today and that it is entirely due to the care of the team. She had previously lost all sense of self-care, hygiene etc and we really feared for her future but is now always looking smart and well cared for and is happy. She adores the staff there and is treated very very well, as we are as her family. She loves the girls who look after her and the management and nursing team and loves the food and all the wonderful treatment she receives. I said a few months ago that everyone who works in Rose Cottage has been touched by the same gold dust and I stick to this. Any issues we have are always dealt with and there is meticulous attention to health and safety whilst taking residents' needs into consideration too.
My mother has been a resident of Rose Cottage Nursing Home for two years now and we count ourselves lucky to have found her this nursing home care! It may be a small home in numbers but I think that's positive, she gets more attention and personal care. The staff are friendly and caring. The staff work hard as a team. We appreciate this home and are reassured mum gets well looked after.
My mother went into Rose Cottage in April 2020 due to no longer being able to care for herself. It was just as covid was at its peak so was a very worrying time. Everyone at Rose Cottage made mums move extremely calm and welcomed her with open arms. Within days, mum had settled in so well and this was entirely down to the fantastic care given to her by all the staff. Due to covid, we are unable to visit her but I’m encouraged to ring anytime and they always cheerfully update me on her condition. Likewise, they ring me immediately if mum is not well and they have to call a doctor. I cannot praise this home enough and would recommend this care home as it’s such a lovely place and not run like a corporate business. Well done Rose Cottage.
The year of 2020 has been extremely challenging for everyone in one way or another. So my brother and I are thankful to the staff of Rose Cottage for taking such good care of our Mum. She contracted Coronavirus in April of this year at the age of 93 but fought through it very well. Mum had such good care and attention through this worrying time and our families are grateful for the kindness of the staff. Her meals are served regularly, and she receives her medicines as prescribed. It’s due to the expertise of the administering staff why she is keeping pretty healthy, all things considered. The thing she misses most of all is visiting family in these tough times. But staff are quite happy to allow the family to ring every day and encourage the calls. Mum isn’t interested in watching the tv, or dominoes or bingo sadly. But when the staff play cd's from the past, she is in her element. She sings along to the songs and remembers the words. We would love this to happen more often.
My Mother has been a resident of Rose Cottage for three years and sadly passed away, whilst in their care recently. My family and I have nothing but the highest praise for the management and all the staff. I have found it difficult to visit, simply because I live five hours away, but whenever I have and sometimes my visits have been unannounced, Mother has always been appropriately clean and dressed, with her hair brushed and makeup on, including nail polish applied. This, to me, shows the attention to detail and minutiae that the staff go to to ensure the welfare of the residents. The staff have always shown us the greatest kindness and their care of my Mother has been exemplary. Rose Cottage is definitely in need of some maintenance and when viewed for the first time, its external appearance may be offputting. However, for anyone considering using the service, please do not be influenced by its appearance, as the service offered here is second to none and I can’t rate it highly enough.
My mum has been a resident of Rose Cottage for eight months now. My family and I are very pleased with the care and attention she receives here. The staff are so nice and very patient, and every aspect of care is taken to ensure she is happy and has all she needs. We don’t think we could have found anywhere better. Mum is quite content here and is aware herself, of how kind the staff are. We would recommend this nursing home without a doubt
