View Full Details of Wemyss LodgeWemyss Lodge is a truly wonderful care home, which is expertly managed. From the day my brother-in-law was moved there from another nursing home, he became settled very quickly and has never been blamed for his condition. He has always been treated with kindness, respect and understanding and not confined to his bedroom. The nursing care is excellent and his condition is closely monitored. There is constant stimulation within the home, which is so important. Thank goodness for Wemyss Lodge, which is giving him a good quality of life again.
As a family we are having a very positive experience since my husband made Wemyss Lodge his home in September 2024. All staff are friendly and welcoming. I am notified of any change of medication verbally and in a timely manner. They are very accommodating to family wishes. Birthday celebration use of dining areas and food provided. Delivery of items to my husband's room. Hanging pictures etc. Activities for families/residents are very good with events organised (Xmas show, Xmas fayre, fireworks). Fitness sessions for residents. Mealtimes are protected but my husband is maintaining a healthy weight. Always offered drinks. My husband has a high level of need and receives excellent 1-to-1 support 24/7.
On each visitation to see my brother, I am always greeted with a smile and conversation that relates to my brother i.e. always nice and positive. This is the most beneficial home that my brother has been in throughout his time in residence. His needs are always put first with love and care. Thank you from all of the family. I would recommend this home to anyone with a relative who is looking for a placement!
I am very pleased with the way things are being done in Wemyss Lodge. I have no issues with anything or anyone. My husband is well cared for, so I can't fault the staff in any way. They respect me when I go to visit my husband and his room is clean and tidy. He is happy and it makes me happy to know he is cared for.
Visited my brother yesterday at Wemyss Lodge, the staff there is very kind welcoming and helpful. Whilst I was there I noticed how the staff dealt with my brother and other residents, they certainly know their job and are 100% professional, would recommend Wemyss to anyone. and would like to thank them for the expert care they are giving to my brother.
I have found Wemyss Lodge very well managed with good systems in place. The staff are well trained and totally involved. Residents are never left isolated and good safety measures are in place. The staff are exceptionally friendly compassionate and helpful. The cleanliness of the care home is without a double absolutely outstanding. Wemyss Lodge is a great example of a very well-managed care home.
My mother has been at Wemyss Lodge since July 2015. We as a family have always been pleased with the care she has received. It is clear that since a certain staff member took over as manager a few years ago everything is now much more professional and 'by the book'. The one thing that has never changed is the quality of the staff, the skill, good humour and sheer patience are wonderful to watch and it is most comforting to know Mum is finishing her long life in such good hands.
Our Dad had been at Wemyss Lodge for fourteen months having moved from a previous home which could not cope with his behaviour. Wemyss staff greeted Dad like a long-lost relative on a cold, wet winter afternoon. The care and attention Dad received from that day on has been beyond anything we could have expected. He was always warm and well-fed and remarked that they were "a lovely family". The fact he thought he was living with a family was all the proof we needed that he was happy and content. The staff were caring and kind to Dad and I could see by his responses to them that they made him feel comfortable and valued. Dad sadly passed away recently in Wemyss Lodge and I cannot thank the staff enough for the professional and kind way Dad was treated. As a family, we were also treated with the greatest of compassion and kindness by every member of staff. In our view, Wemyss is in a class of its own and should have a CQC rating of "outstanding plus". We cannot thank you enough Wemyss.
My wife has been a resident at Wemyss Lodge since early August 2021 and I have been really impressed with the love and care that she has received from all members of staff. She has proved to be quite a demanding and challenging resident for the staff to deal with and they have looked after her and met her needs more than I could have wished.
My mother has been a resident of Wemyss Lodge for some 14-years now. I cannot fault the care, love and attention the staff matron gives her. I am sure, without their wonderful dedication and care, Mum would not have reached her age of 94. They truly are wonderful.
My mother was admitted to Wemyss in June 2020 following the death of her husband (my stepfather). She was extremely poorly and only expected to live for a few days. With excellent care and professional nursing, she is alive seventeen months later. Her needs are complex, but I am in no doubt that the care she is receiving is the best on offer, and I know that all her needs are taken care of.
My dad has lived here since November 2018. Initially, he came for respite care but he was unable to return home due to deterioration of his dementia. When Dad got his permanent room they decorated it beautifully for him, with a large golf mural on the wall - before he became unwell Dad spent hours on the golf course. Dad poses challenging behaviour at times and the staff are great at dealing with this. Dad is well cared for and loved by the staff and we are happy we chose Wemyss for him. Keep up the good work. We love you all!
The ethos at Wemyss Lodge is outstanding. Relatives are responded to with respect and care. Residents are cared for as if in a family, with kindness and consideration. Relatives concerns are listened to. Nursing care is excellent. Every precaution has been observed during the current lockdown and contact with the relatives by phone and social media has been encouraged.
My niece has been with you for the past 5-6 months, and she has been in a few different places in the past almost 3 years. I can’t believe the change in her - for the better. I haven’t seen her for 18 months and when I left England in Sept 2018, I felt pretty hopeless about her future. I cannot believe the difference being in your home has made. I was here for 10 days and went to see her as much as possible, and the care and compassion she is shown by the staff is wonderful. The first day I saw her I think the nurses were in and out checking on her more times in an hour than I witnessed in a week at the place she was, at last, I saw her, and they are so affectionate and kind. They genuinely seem to care, which is how it should be and I think this is what makes my niece do better. Thank you to all of you for what you do. She seems so happy there and has some good relationships. I know she doesn’t like any kind of change, but she seems to have settled well.
I am very happy with everyone involved in the excellent care that my husband is getting and the kindness shown to me.
My wife is in her 9th year as a resident of Wemyss. We see standards improving each year and the care by staff is outstanding. The reason I mark 'value for money' as only satisfactory is for 9 years we have paid the top rate (presently over £1300 weekly), whereas local government sponsor residents at a much lower rate. A massive unfair tax on us.
My husband has been in the unit at Wemyss Lodge care home for 2 months. I am so pleased at how well he has settled, especially after a move from another care home that couldn't manage him. The quality of care he now receives is kind, supportive and sensitive. The skilled staff are vigilant and engage with residents in a relaxed and friendly way without being intrusive. The care is all I could want for my husband. The home is undergoing some renovations which are being managed well to minimise the disruption to residents and staff. The improvements are already positive.
