View Full Details of St Giles Care Home - Avery HealthcareThe staff are amazing going the extra mile, they really do care for the residents. The lower floor with fewer Dementia residents has a lot more daily activity. Unfortunately the upper floor, mainly Dementia residents spend most time sat in front of the television, shouting out of boredom. Dementia patients need daily activities, stimulation, comfort, kind reassurance. They don't like being alone, there's need for 1 staff member in daily attendance. The food is in great need of improvement, so much waste, tasteless dry and rarely fresh greens. I have asked on numerous occasions for gravy or sauce, this falls on deaf ears. Carrots and potatoes hard (most of the residents have very few teeth). Mashed cheese and potatoes, surely an easy option. I requested again numerous times for custard with bananas or any fruit that can be mashed, again no. The rooms have little space for special equipment, ie. sling and tilt chairs. Excellent care home but lacking in the Dementia department.
Didn't know what to expect as I had heard so many bad things about care homes, to say I was surprised was an understatement. First thing I noticed was the pleasant smell as I entered, the lady on reception was welcoming and friendly and all staff I met throughout my visit were so polite and helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them. The home is bright and clean, bedrooms are standard but again clean. Resident were sat chatting and all looked happy and content. My friend tells me how good the staff are and how well they care for her, I'm so happy she feels safe and happy here. St Giles Care Home has changed my view on care homes. You have a great team. I appreciate everything you do.
The home is a very pleasant place with excellent facilities and very caring staff who go out of their way to make the residents lives happy and make sure that they are comfortable and content. The overall feeling is that St Giles Care Home is a lovely place for my mum to be living.
Recently after a very difficult decision, we moved our mother into a care home and we couldn't be happier with the smooth transition and welcome mom has received from St Giles. The home is lovely and clean and very well presented. Everyone is so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The care she receives is very attentive, dignified, and friendly. Already they have noted Mom's needs and are acting accordingly to make her as happy, stimulated, and in the best environment for her. The care home has made such a stressful decision for the family effortless. I really love visiting and being part of her new little family.
My sister has progressed healthwise and socially since being in the care of St Giles. The staff are all so pleasant and professional where it seems nothing is too much trouble. Their care has eased the worry and concern of my sister's family for which we are all so grateful.
Just to say my grateful thanks to everyone at St Giles for the care of my mother, she always has a smile on her face when you come into her room and enjoys the banter. It's home from home to Mum so thanks again.
Lovely place, just like a hotel/home from home, the best food and the best care.
My mum initially came for respite but was so well looked after, respected and cared for accepted a long-term placement. Her mobility is very poor and wouldn't have been safe to return home. The food is excellent. My mum loves all the staff and even remembers some of their names! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff including management for both my mum and the family. I am secure in her care and feel so relieved to have found a suitable place. It is her home now. Thank you.
Any issues are raised and dealt with quickly and efficiently. Relatives messages very beneficial - well being team have excellent recently with more and varied activities, especially yoga and fitness. All staff are caring, always polite and pleasant. Mom is happy and that is all I ask for! Thank you.
My father has only been a resident for a month, during this time we can not fault anything, more than happy with the care he is receiving. The home is immaculate. All the staff we have met, regardless of their positions within the home, are friendly, helpful, and polite. Always greeted with a hello/morning and a smile. What more could anyone wish for?
All staff are absolutely amazing, they all work hard and are very respectful, caring, loving, they always make me feel welcome and always want to help. They all deserve pay raises, they're all just amazing at what they do. (Save me a room).
Very pleased with how my relative has settled in. Thank you.
Dad loves being there. We find the staff very pleasant and accommodating. The only bug bear is the loss of clothing and blankets which are all labelled. Sometimes he's left very late for his lunch due to him only wanting sandwiches.
A wonderful care home. The staff and whole team are amazing and supportive, always showing care and compassion to residents and visitors alike. They are incredibly welcoming and the home is always clean and well presented. The home has no odour or mess, unlike other homes I've visited. An incredibly lovely place!
After looking after my Mother for a few years I found it becoming very difficult, she refused any treatment and help from carers and nurses. I would wake with a dread of what the day would bring. The first day in St Giles I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. The nurses and carers were wonderful, like a home from home, so pleasant and caring. A big thank you to all staff at St Giles.
Dad came here from another care home after becoming very ill with dementia and cancer. He was assessed and has been catered for by the nursing and care staff. We cannot fault them! Every single member of the team has been truly wonderful. They just care. They smile at patients and visitors in equal measure. One member of staff runs a very tight ship. You can feel the organisation is led with warmth and tenderness. Every day we visit Dad, his wife, although not a resident, visits regularly, and they make her so welcome. This is so helpful, thoughtful and perfectly human. My faith in humanity has been restored. It is a difficult job - no two patients are the same; however, when you see how easily the staff move from one patient to the next, you are filled with respect and awe. The lady in well-being stretches out her arms to all; she will know if you're feeling down and do her best to pick you back up. She's so kind to the patients. All the staff are professional with patience and diligence.
Overall, very satisfied.
The staff are nice, always helpful. The food could be much better. St Giles is a little understaffed.
Great staff - friendly. The cleaning is not great.
St Giles offers the best care. I love the professional yet friendly staff and how they manage to provide such a family, friendly environment. I always feel as though I'm visiting Mom at a friend's house, not a care home, and that is 100% due to the staff, whether they are admin, carers or nurses - each and every one of them are amazing.
