View Full Details of Selly Park Nursing HomeMy sister has settled down well here after being in several hospitals. This is due to the fact that the staff are all nice, caring and friendly. They are always there to help with a smile on their face. Keep it up folks!
My mum spent over 12 months at this home and had severe dementia and was bed-bound. She was unable to feed herself but the staff ensured that she was fed and received plenty of drinks. The staff were always kind and went the extra mile to ensure that her needs were catered for. Nothing was too much trouble and if we asked for anything it was done straightaway. When my mum was ill they kept us informed of her progress by telephone as we did not live locally. When it was her birthday the staff presented her with a birthday cake and gathered around to wish her a 'Happy Birthday'. They also attended her funeral. My mum was happy there and loved them all. We cannot thank them enough.
Went to see my uncle, wet through with urine even though he has a catheter. Coffee all down his clothes dried on, his hands covered in faeces. He is blind and deaf and relies on hand communication. My mother, his sister demanded he be showered. We were left waiting 90 minutes to see him. This has been a regular occurrence. He was sat half out of a wheelchair on his own. His bed had been stripped, but the pillowcases were still on with faeces on. I work in care, have done for 34 years, this is disgusting. Three service users in a lounge not supervised in the 90 minutes we were waiting for my uncle and when I raised these issues with the staff we were met with kissing of their teeth and trying to justify why my uncle has been neglected and why is there no awareness of cross infection. I have seen staff not changing aprons and gloves between jobs. The chairs were dirty and sticky as were the floors. I am in the process of raising a safeguarding and contacting CQC today avoid this place
My mum spent a very happy 18 months here. The staff could not have done more to look after her mental, emotional and physical health. She was kept safe, clean, warm, engaged in activities, and she was loved. The home is kept very clean and Mum's room was cleaned daily. The nurses, carers and activities team went above and beyond to help Mum find purpose and dignity at the end of her life, even though dementia was making it hard for her. Communication with the manager and all the staff was excellent, they offered reassurance and support to our family as well as to Mum. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.
After some initial settling problems for my mother, she has now settled. The nurses have been very patient and understanding. The staff respond quickly when my mother requires assistance. The room is cleaned daily and always in good condition.
All staff I have interacted with and witnessed interacting with my family member are friendly and respectful. Overall, clean and had plenty of hand sanitisers throughout. The Covid procedure for entering and leaving is very thorough.
Very good, happy with service. My mother is happy with the services she is receiving in the care home. The staff are very supportive in meeting my mother's needs. She is reviewed regularly by the home's GP weekly. She enjoys activities with the staff.
Brilliant as always. Staff are always helpful and supportive. My mom likes colouring and all the activities provided; she is also part of the choir at Selly Park and enjoys it. She likes sitting outside in the garden.
I cannot say anything bad about this care home. My uncle came in May 2022 when he was very ill, and the staff have had so much patience and have gone above and beyond for him. It isn’t easy being 60 and being in a care home with people a lot older than you, but the staff have made him feel so welcome and loved. They not only look after the residents but also care for the family too, always asking how we are and supporting us too, as it can be a very uneasy and unusual situation to be in. I looked at the reviews and the feedback of this care home before he came, and like anyone would be, I was very weary of the experience he would receive, but I cannot thank the staff here for everything they do on a daily basis! I would highly recommend!
Excellent service was provided for my dad. He's been here for over 12-months and is settled so well. Staff are pleasant and Dad is very content, which makes it so much more comfortable for us to know he's happy and in the right place.
Lovely visit with my grandfather today. Helpful and caring staff, making you feel like part of the Selly Park family - has a cosy and homely atmosphere. After not being able to meet my grandfather in person since the being of Covid, it was really refreshing and heartwarming day. Thank you to all the staff at Selly Park for doing much-needed and amazing jobs.
In August 2021, our elderly father moved to Selly Park Nursing Home. Visiting him has been difficult due to restrictions imposed by Covid-19, and visits have required to be booked in advance. However, staff have worked hard to facilitate these, whilst maintaining Covid-compliancy. During a lockdown over Christmas, some staff stayed permanently on-site to ensure the wellbeing of residents... “wanting to make it as much fun as possible for them in the absence of visitors”. Communication between nursing staff and our family is good; the lead nurse phoned us to advise about a complaint our father had made, and the action is taken – this was very reassuring. We were also notified promptly about a deterioration in his health and encouraged to visit. Our father’s room is bright and spacious, with a high standard of cleanliness. The corridors and public rooms are also clean and tidy. Dad says he is being well looked after, but “sometimes they are slow to answer my buzzer”.
