View Full Details of Abbey Park Nursing HomeMy Mum is 93 and has been a resident at Abbey Park for almost four years now and I consider that she is very fortunate to be there. From the outset, they cared for Mum with great kindness, dignity and patience and became like an extended family to her and us. All the staff really do care about their resident's mental and physical wellbeing and they extend that to the wider family as well. They always try to encourage everyone to treat Abbey Park as if it were their own home and join in with the daily variety of stimulating sessions and regular events. With their help, Mum has eventually settled down nicely and has even regained her sense of humour which makes visiting a lot more pleasant and enables us to spend quality time together now. I honestly think that Abbey Park is a lovely place with a nice atmosphere and the dedicated staff have worked wonders with my mum, for that I am truly grateful.
My nan's very happy here - all the staff are great and she loves the different activities that she can get involved with and that there is such a range of activities. Thanks to the staff and everyone involved.
My wife always says she likes the staff and the home but she would rather be at home. She has never once in 10 months passed a negative comment re the home. I, her husband appreciate how well the staff is coping with the never-ending query "When am I going home?". Please keep up the very good work.
Our Mum and Dad were residents at Abbey Park. Mum initially in Avon and then she moved to Arden when Dad joined her there. Our parents were cared for with compassion, care and respect. Any problems or questions we had were dealt with quickly and communication with us was open and honest. The staff on both Arden and Avon were for the most part incredible. They worked hard to develop trust and understanding, particularly with Mum. It's not easy when you work with people with Dementia. Thank you all for taking care of our parents with such care, commitment and fun. Sadly both of our parents have now passed away, Mum on 15th July 2024 and Dad just 11 days later on 26th July. The whole team at Abbey Park were kind and respectful towards our family and supportive. Thank you all.
The staff and care is excellent. Lovely gardens lovely food. I'm made to feel welcome here. Mum does lots of activities and enjoys them, my mum had been on trips and has settled in really well. Recommended to all.
Simply brilliant....this is our family's experience of Abbey Park. The culture of care runs deep and wide at this excellent run home. The whole experience of securing a place for a much loved mother and wife has been exceptional, we thought it would be a traumatic experience but in reality, we struck gold. Abbey Park has exceeded all of our expectations, every member of staff has that special quality of compassion for caring for those in need... it's simply brilliant and I would recommend the facility in a heartbeat. If you have someone that you love, who is in need of care, this is the place for them, nothing is too much trouble. As a family we have been blown away by the activities, the food, the space, the freedom of choice and ultimately the care... it truly is exceptional. Management made the process of admission painless, when they said they would do something, they did. 5 stars from us, I/we couldn't fault you. Thank you Abbey Park.
My mum has been in Abbey Park for just over a year now. When Mum moved in she was nervous and anxious but soon settled and made friends with the staff and residents. The staff is hard-working, patient, kind, and caring and treats residents like they are their own family. When I visit I feel welcome and often chat with Mum and the other residents who are all lovely, we often have a bit of a sing song, even though I may cause it to rain with my singing. The food is fresh and tasty with choices which is good, as mum can be fussy. Mum likes activities like Bingo, crafting, and singing, especially if there is a singer on. The managers are all friendly and approachable, so if there are any problems, queries, or anything I need help with regarding Mum, I know I can knock on their door. The building is spotless, clean, and tidy, with a lovely smell of air freshener, as the cleaning staff work hard to ensure that it is kept this way. I would recommend Abbey Park to everyone.
My auntie has been a resident at the home for almost three years. On arrival, she was unhappy and confused, and continually questioning why she couldn’t be in her own home. But, despite the restrictions of the Covid pandemic, she settled in well, and is now a happy member of the Abbey Park “family”. She looks well, and it is obvious that the staff are looking after both her physical, and mental health. As a member of her family, I am made to feel welcome, I always feel comfortable when visiting, and all members of staff are approachable and friendly. Residents are encouraged to socialise, and have regular entertainment and activities. I have visited several care homes over the past few years, and Abbey Park is, by far, the best I have encountered.
My mum has been at Abbey Park Nursing Home for eleven months and every dealing I’ve had with all staff has been excellent. My mum is looked after extremely well and has improved in herself since being here. She has a great interaction with the staff who have also built up a good relationship with my dad who says he feels like part of the Abbey Park family himself. I cannot recommend the home highly enough.
My dad recently stayed at Abbey Park for a short period. The staff were so kind and welcoming. Everybody was so helpful from maintenance and kitchen staff, nurses and cares, nothing was too much trouble. The office and management staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us as a family, highly recommended to all.
My father was only at Abbey Park for a short time, but I cannot express the professionalism which we encountered from every member of staff at Abbey Park. The staff in the Arden Ward made my dad's last few months comfortable and peaceful - we were shown nothing but kindness. For this, we will be forever grateful.
I believe the staff deliver a high quality of care in very, very challenging circumstances. Are there any occasions when I could make a negative comment, of course, the answer is yes. However, we have to consider all of the patients will be asking for attention often at the same moment in time. I personally could not deliver anything the quality of care that Abbey Park Nursing Home provide. I have always found the care home manager extremely approachable and willing to listen to any comments I make. I can't think of a better care home than Abbey Park.
My step father was cared for over a period of time throughout the summer, allowing our family some time to celebrate our wedding abroad knowing he was cared for just as we could have hoped for. During his respite stay, the staff and management could not have been any more accommodating. The food, activities and staff were excellent. We could not of wished for a more perfect care home for him to stay. A huge thank you to all the staff at Abbey Park.
My dad has been at Abbey Park for almost 3.5 years. He’s had some poor health in the last few weeks and the care he has received is second to none. The staff show genuine affection for Dad and can always get a smile and twinkle in his eye. The care staff are an absolute credit to Abbey Park. Thanks to 2 staff members in particular, for being so approachable with any concerns regarding my dad's health and ongoing health. Had a lovely visit today with Dad, it was nice to see him out of bed and looking so smart, even the little touches of Dad wearing his aftershave. Thank you, for all you’ve done to support Dad and us as a family.
My review covers a period of almost 4 years during which time our frail, vulnerable elderly mother who is totally blind and has progressive Alzheimer’s, continues to be let down by inconsistent poor care. (Self-funding) Whilst there are many kind carers, the home is poorly led, poorly managed by the incumbent manager who is not accountable for poor decision making and epic fails. Frequently off site, she appears not to be motivated by delivering safe nor compassionate care. The latest let down ( there are numerous - all evidence based) our mother‘s lunch was deposited on her lap. She was left in her room with no light bulb and no TV on. She is supposed to be supported with food/is all care but frequently neglected on key aspects. This home needs an urgent CQC review without advance notice. A high turnover of staff. A home that needs a competent new manager with a finger on the pulse. Numerous fails monthly. No accountability by the post holder. Evidence based.
My grandma has been in Abbey Park Nursing Home on respite twice and now is in permanently. She has dementia and was currently living with my mum but it was too much for my mum to cope with Since being in Abbey Park permanently, we have been so happy with the care, the staff and manager and deputy have been absolutely amazing and so great. My grandma looks amazing and is well looked after having no concerns, my grandma looks amazing there and is happy there, they have a great understanding of dementia. I know what my grandma is like, I know she is very tearful and can be hard at times but the staff are very reassuring. I love coming to see my grandma, she looks the best she has ever looked and I know she wouldn't get care like she gets there anywhere else. There is plenty there and everyone there goes above and beyond. I've brought my children there and they love coming to see my grandma. The activities they offer there are brilliant for people with dementia and elderly, the staff do an amazing job.
From the time we met the management staff and Dad moved in we knew it would be the right place for Dad. He arrived at the Abbey Park Nursing Home on a Thursday after two spells in hospital and needed nursing care. Straight away the staff on the Arden Suite made my dad and family very welcome. Dad was 97 years old he was treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. The end-of-life care was very good during which time the family were given all the support and help we needed. We were glad Dad spent the last days of his life in a kind, caring, loving environment. All the staff from the nursing staff to the kitchen staff are a credit to Abbey Park Nursing Home.
Have found it difficult to find a place I felt comfortable with for my wife who is in the late stage of early-onset Alzheimer’s. In Abbey Park, I have found a place where the quality of care and the friendliness of the staff ensure my wife returns home after respite both content and relaxed. First and foremost, it is so reassuring to deal with staff on a specialist unit who are so well informed and equipped to deal with younger people with Alzheimer’s. They are very professional in their care and quickly respond to any concerns or questions you as a carer might have. Home is always spotlessly clean and staff make a determined effort to become well acquainted with their residents. My wife has been in for three periods of respite, yet the care continued to be of a high quality each and every visit. For me and my family, this is our first port of call when respite is required and we will make arrangements to fit in with the availability of a bed. I can think of no higher recommendation.
I chose to move my dad to Abbey Park 4 years ago following a change in his home circumstances. I was apprehensive about sending him to a care home but from the moment I walked in on my first visit, I could tell that this was an amazing place. Prior to the move, Dad had received care at home following a severe stroke. From day one in Abbey Park, his quality of life was so much better and his physical and mental health improved greatly, he absolutely loved it and never tired of telling everyone so. He was so well cared for and visiting family and friends were always welcomed. Abbey Park staff also did a fantastic job throughout the pandemic keeping him safe and keeping us well informed and involved. I could not have wished for a better place for him to be during that difficult time. When Dad passed away recently his end-of-life care was professional and dignified. The staff at Abbey Park are amazing and I cannot thank them enough.
As a family, we cannot speak highly enough of Abbey Park. The Home Manager is an inspirational leader of a team of staff who are caring, friendly, welcoming, and everything you could wish for your loved ones. They cared for both Dad and Mum and the challenges of covid. They go above and beyond, providing a real home, where family are valued as well as the residents. Such an amazing place.
