View Full Details of Allenbrook Home (Halesowen) LtdMy sister wants to share her express wishes to the housekeeping, nursing and management team.
My friend/neighbour has been in respite care at Allenbrook for 6 weeks so far. She is being very well cared for and there is a caring, friendly, helpful atmosphere in the home. All the staff seem to have good relationships with the residents and amongst themselves.
I had to make the difficult decision to put my mom into respite care. From my first point of contact with Allenbrook Home, they reassured me that my mom would be safe and well cared for and they were not wrong. Mom stayed for a month in her own private room. The meals were amazing. Everyone who works there is kind, compassionate and understanding of the resident's needs. Mom enjoyed her stay and I wouldn't hesitate to use Allenbrook again in the future.
I feel that under the circumstances of my wife's health that she is getting the best care possible.
As a family, we could not ask for more of the Allenbrook family. From all staff involved with our sister, the care is given with dignity and care. Most importantly emotional care is included so the person is not lost in the nursing environment. Knowing that your loved one is safe and nurtured provides peace of mind. The necessities of life, taken care of with compassion in an open-house environment. We are delighted with the whole team.
Mum has been a resident here for over a year. She is well cared for and I have no worries. The care home is welcoming, visiting times are very flexible and Mum seems happy and content. The food always looks appetising and Mum eats well, has gained weight and has maintained this. I always sit with her in the resident's lounge so I can observe what happens. Carers show respect, empathy and patience to all residents even when behaviour is challenging. Management offers plenty of opportunities for feedback, providing regular times to meet.
My father is having his second period of time at Allenbrook Home. The staff are all excellent and very helpful and caring. It's good to know he is in safe hands. All other aspects such as communication and admin etc are also first class. I would highly recommend Allenbrook should you or a family member require their service and expertise.
My brother lives in Allenbrooke. He appears stable and care staff appear to know him well. He has a lovely room which is well kept. He would benefit from more individual daily activity as he cannot manage group activity. The home is clean but would benefit from an update in furnishings and more dementia signage. Care staff work hard and are responsive.
Appear understaffed. Call times (service users waiting on staff to attend) are simply appalling. Every visit buzzers going off. I've witnessed response times of over 1 hour frequently. Too many agency staff - which isn't good as some appear uncaring and like 'it's just a job' - they can't wait for their shift to finish. The manager is approachable and appears receptive to feedback. My aunt since being in their care has developed bed sores which are now infected. Told they turn her hourly - but know from my visits - that simply isn't happening. Shocking!
Allenbrook have coped well throughout the difficulties caused due to covid. My main concern is that there are never enough staff which I understand is a problem in general. The staff are extremely hard working and caring but there is a quick turnover. Due to staff shortages, standards are not always up to my expectations. Food, on the whole, is good but meat is sometimes too tough for the elderly residents. Hopefully, there will be more entertainment and activities now covid is being successfully controlled.
My mother has been a resident at Allenbrook Home since January 2020, following the death of my father (who had been her main carer). The nursing home has been extremely supportive towards my mother, who has had to cope with her increasing dementia, bereavement, and covid-19 restrictions. In addition, my mother has challenging oral and dietary needs. More recently my mother has become more relaxed, regarding Allenbrook as her home. Allenbrook is a little restricted in space for activities.
This nursing home has gone the extra mile to make sure my father settled in when I had to move him from a care home. All the staff have been very caring, to help him feel really comfortable and reassure him that it is his home and if needs anything he only has to ask. The nursing care has been good, and my father always looks clean and well dressed. The food suits my father and he is now eating very well, the chef does come out of the kitchen to see if there is anything particular needed for the residents. Altogether I have to say a very well run, clean, happy home, that have the residents and the supporting families best interests at heart.
I am always greeted with a smile and a cheery hello. All staff are friendly and welcoming and work hard to ensure the home is welcoming and homely to all the residents. Residents are treated with dignity and respect at all times. I feel this is a safe and caring home and I am very happy with the care they give my relative.
