View Full Details of The Priory Care HomeMy three weeks' respite care at The Priory Care Home helped me to recover from a traumatic hip fracture operation. The standard of care was excellent. The staff were amazing. They treated me with empathy, kindness and humour. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing - nutritious, with plenty of variety. My personal needs were catered for; I was treated with dignity and encouraged to join in activities and regain my mobility and confidence. I felt secure and relaxed by the end of my stay.
When we called The Priory Care Home asking to place my uncle, he had just lost his primary carer, my father, and we had really been struggling to get any help through social services. Immediately the manager and the team were excellent, they helped us place my uncle and meet his needs at a very difficult time for him and the whole family, when we had struggled for support elsewhere. He has only been at The Priory briefly, but the team there have gone above and beyond to ensure that he has settled, providing excellent food and a clean and stable location where his care needs can be met. Even going as far as to get a birthday cake cooked in advance of his birthday on Saturday. We cannot express enough our gratitude to the team at The Priory.
I was very impressed by the tidiness of the gardens at The Priory Care Home and when I went in, the first person I met was a lady who was very welcoming, smiling and very friendly. She showed me to my friends room, which was lovely, clean, tidy as was the rest of the building that I could see. Unlike some care homes I have been into, The Priory smelt fresh and clean and all areas were very clean. I met a couple more members of staff who were very friendly and well dressed and all looked happy to be working there.
Thank you so much for having us to eat with mum on Christmas Day and such a fantastic meal and experience. You made such an effort for the residents, the meal was delicious and you worked so hard on making sure the room was just perfect, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time and mum did too, thank you.
From the moment mom was admitted we were met with such a caring, compassionate and professional team. The management team are efficient, approachable and really knowledgable. They are always available, with an open door to answer any questions the family have. At such an emotional time they make us feel welcome and at ease. The staff are so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We were soon very aware of the high standard of care given to Mom and also the family. Also we have to give a shout out to the chefs who provide a really varied and delicious menu. Unfortunately, mom cannot access their entertainment programme but again that is varied and has something for everyone. If you are looking for nursing home care for a loved one, we can really recommend visiting The Priory!
My nan moved in here only a few weeks ago after the loss of my grandad she was feeling very low and overwhelmed at this time. Now 5 weeks on she is feeling a lot more happy and comfortable. As a carer myself I feel she is in a lovely, safe place and all staff have been brilliant and very welcoming to not only my nan but to us the family as well. She is now attending activities in the lounge, going to the dining room for her breakfast, lunch and sometimes her tea which at the start I thought may never happen. Thank you to everyone at The Priory Care Home for looking after my nan and giving her the best care.
I find The Priory very responsive and caring. Staff are very kind, and have listened to my mother's needs. My mother had a lovely birthday, with her favourite food, which included a birthday cake. Thanks to everyone who is caring for her.
I attended the Caribbean-themed garden party (28 Aug) and I must say I was really impressed. The residents had a great time, all appeared to be well cared for, clean and happy. They do love a party. The food laid on, all served outside, was excellent as was the solo steel drum player who had the residents tapping away with popular tunes. The activity team did a great job with the decorations and there was a friendly buzz from all the staff. A fantastic afternoon.
I have found The Priory Care Home to be the perfect home from home for my grandmother who initially was admitted as respite. Nana has been residing there from July 2024 to present. The staff have been professional, empathetic, caring and compassionate, observing regularly and meeting Nana's needs well with regard to her medication, well-being and interests. While she has been at The Priory, the communication between the care home and my family has been exceptional, nothing has been too much trouble and the staff make it a priority to get to know Nana well, as well as my family. Knowing the level of care has been so good, it has made the possible decision in the future to make this a more permanent arrangement less daunting. I am really impressed with the professionalism from one lady who is excellent at her job, also the wrap-around care and support provided by the care team. This home is far more than a commercial venture. They really do care about the resident's health and well-being.
They need to put the care in the care home. A few absolutely amazing staff, the rest are a waste of time. I can count four awesome staff on the team. Our experience has been shocking, to say the least. Management doesn't even know the residents or mix with them. No weekend entertainment which is awful as most are in their rooms with nothing to do at weekends. Personally, I would not recommend this place if you want proper care from genuine people. As stated, four carers in particular are amazing, when they are not there the place is awful.
My wife continues to be well looked after by kind and attentive staff. The home provides a safe environment and offers a varied menu of well-balanced foods. Following a recent refurbishment, the home looks bright and inviting to residents and visitors alike. However, there is a need for the garden and surrounds to be attended to more often, although new garden furniture has been acquired it remains still boxed up weeks after delivery.
Mom has been a resident at the Priory since Nov 2023 and she had some major reservations about going to a care home after 35 years of independence! Being registered blind and with a serious back condition we needed to know she was in a safe environment and somewhere she would eventually feel comfortable! After the first couple of weeks, it was evident that The Priory could provide exactly what we needed and more. The staff are outstanding, all of them, and the facility is extremely well managed. Mom had lived in the same house for over 60 years and has had a life of family all around her and this seems no different now her home has changed! She has adapted really well to her routine, the food, the staff and The Priory have provided everything we could have asked for. When visiting there is always time for a friendly chat or a formal review of mom’s situation and care plan, the family are more than happy with the care and support Mom gets!
Both my parents are at The Priory. The building and facilities are very good. Clean and well maintained. The staff are excellent, caring and responsive. Special mention to the home manager for all her help and support in getting my mum and dad moved from another location. Lots to do in the day and facilities are good. Mum and Dad settled in really quick giving their family peace of mind.
My dad has been at the priory for the past 3 or 4 months and we have been really happy with all the care he has been given here. The staff are excellent and the patients really matter to them. This really gives us a lot of comfort to know our father is in a place he feels safe and that he is respected and treated with dignity and honour. The priory is a homely setting and the closest we can get to home for our beloved Dad. Thank you to all the staff for making a difference each day. We appreciate you all so much.
My husband has complex health needs including Alzheimer's disease. Since being welcomed into the Priory his whole demeanour has improved. Whilst he cannot speak staff do their utmost to anticipate his needs and to make him comfortable. Communication between staff and family is excellent and any queries are dealt with promptly. I highly recommend The Priory to anyone requiring care for themselves or a loved one.
I have found that staff in The Priory Care Home have been professional, empathetic, friendly and caring. Compared to other care homes that I have had interactions with, they are exemplars of how I would hope that a team of carers would go about their duties.
My mother-in-law was offered a place at The Priory having spent two months in the hospital. We are very pleased with the level of care she is receiving. All staff have been extremely friendly, and professional and provide exceptional care. Having watched my mother-in-law slowly deteriorate with dementia for many years, it is now so lovely to see her comfortable and relaxed and the agitation and stress have improved dramatically, I truly believe this is due to the excellent care she is receiving, thank you to all of the staff who work so hard.
I stopped for seven weeks of respite/rehab following a major operation four weeks earlier. Overall, the home gave me the support I required before I returned to my home. All the staff were helpful, supportive and friendly. The food was good (I put on weight which I had lost in hospital) and I enjoyed the activities organised. Over the last ten years, I have had direct experience with four similar homes and this was the best out of the four.
Some of the senior nursing staff who give out the prescriptions are extremely professional and they seem to hold the place together. Your previous manager was brilliant at looking after patients, but his admin skills were non-existent, as a family we had hardly any emails regarding The Priory, very poor. My mother has had her main meal missed out at least twice, and on other occasions, given a different meal to her request, and told the kitchen is closed at 5 pm! Often her call button is not answered for at least 1/2 an hour. Not good enough! No heating in the shower room for 18 months!
The main issue of concern is the number of agency staff and the lack of hands-on carers that are available. The care team are excellent, just not enough of them. The need to retain good staff in this competitive environment will, I fear, also become an issue, particularly around their flexibility and pay.
