View Full Details of Aldridge Court Nursing HomeMy mum went in for two weeks of respite over Christmas. She had nothing but praise for the home and the care she received. My mum enjoyed the good food. The catering support staff was excellent and provided a high-quality service. The carers were friendly and helpful and looked after my mother very well. The day my mother was leaving she was very upset and did not want to leave because she enjoyed her stay so much. So I am in the process of her returning on a permanent basis. The manager was very helpful and responsive to our requests and made her stay most welcoming.
My mum was recently a resident at Aldridge Court Nursing Home due to being on palliative care. The staff were extremely helpful and looked after mum with such care and dignity. They also looked after us when we visited and nothing was too much trouble. The care was excellent and mum was so well looked after until she passed away.
I don't recognise any of the problems encountered. All of the staff say hello to me, they know my name and my mum's name. I've found them very caring, considerate, and polite. There have been a couple of very minor things but I would expect that given how long she's been in there. My mom enjoys the food and gets regular drink top-ups. This is the second time she's been in and actually requested the home for this second stay.
Avoid this place. Very little communication, no welcome, no induction, no explanation of policies or care plans, we weren't shown the kitchens, communal areas etc. The food was disgusting. All the staff could say was "it's puree." I would not feed it to my cats. My dad was refused pillows. Told not to press his buzzer. He was mocked and spoken to horribly by some staff members. Staff have issues with language barriers, they don't acknowledge you. Interaction was sparse, he wasn't encouraged to go to any communal areas and nobody interacted with him at his bed. On the last day after we had him transferred, a member of the management team put their head inside the door and said "you're leaving today? Your transport has arrived." This was the only interaction we had with the management. The care lacks dignity. We got my dad moved and a few weeks later he died. I can't express how glad I am that this was not the last thing he experienced before he died. I would have never forgiven myself.
My father died at Aldridge Court in November 2022. He had been sent there to die but lived a lot longer than anyone initially thought - mainly due to the high-class nursing care he received in his first days and weeks. The care staff were kind, although a little disorganised at times. The equipment and surroundings were a little past their use-by date (it was so much calmer when the hoist wheels were attended to - it would be even more calm if the nurse call system were replaced with one that alerted the staff through pocket devices, rather than the almost constant strident alarm calls). What matters most about a care home is the care provided - my dad was cared for very well. Thank you.
I visited my mum on the 9th of September. Lovely to see how happy and settled she is. Staff had a lovely rapport with her and all staff were excellent. Wonderful visit. Excellent care provided. Thank you.
Our mother is a resident, and at the moment we want our mother home as soon as possible. Some carers are amazing, and nurses. But unfortunately, the manager is inadequate. The manager doesn't listen. Maybe time for a new manager! Resident given dirty laundry or leave in soiled beds and pads. I'm very disappointed in the level of care our mother is receiving. I wouldn't recommend this home. I can't call it a care home because care from the manager is missing.
