View Full Details of Highwell House Nursing & Residential CareAll the staff and management are outstanding, they all take the utmost care of every need catered for, are very courteous to visitors, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The nursing staff treat you like family. Sadly my best friend has spent her final days there and was treated amazingly well. Lovely and clean all the time, with people popping in and out. Never left alone for long. If I ever need this kind of care, this is where I would choose to end my days. Thank you so much for your care and service.
Overall a caring nursing home, with good views of the windows most staff are helpful and friendly, could do with more staff to enable more time to sit and interact with clients, visitors welcomed with open arms and access to food and drinks.

Dad's been a resident at Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care since November 2024. Everyone has made the transition easy and straightforward for both him and me. He's been made to feel very welcome and it's wonderful to be able to drop in and see him whenever and be a part of the festivities there too. He's enjoying the activities on offer and definitely the food! I know he's safe and well looked after, with caring staff who can cope with his night-time wanderings.

Another big birthday and what an amazing celebration my dad had at Highwell! A great deal of thought and care went into making it a very special occasion. He's been a resident for two years and is really a very happy one. He so appreciates the friendly banter with the wonderful caring staff and the homely atmosphere. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The home is cosy and homely. People are always willing to help. There always seem to be lots of staff around. Lovely views from rooms and sitting room.
My grandfather joined Highwell House on 14.12.2023. He was warmly welcomed and has settled in incredibly well. My family live locally so can easily visit the home. The staff are incredibly kind, helpful and supportive. A lovely bedroom which he was allowed to personalise. The food is very tasty and freshly made daily. Grandad loves the country views and fresh flowers that are always in abundance. A huge selection of breakfast items followed by a complimentary newspaper that he spends hours reading and completing the crossword. The new outside seating area has been created as a beautiful space to get fresh air and relaxation time warmly surrounded by beautifully freshly planted flowers to look at. Activities are created every day for fun and interaction and he even enjoyed a theatrical event two nights ago that he thoroughly enjoyed. The care team are very easy to communicate with and his health needs are met. Huge thanks to the entire team for a very kind and caring experience.
My dad has been in Highwell for just over two years following a major stroke. We managed to get him transferred there following a very stressful few weeks when he was discharged into a poor-quality care home from the hospital. The difference was huge. The care home manager sent us a photo of him on the terrace the day of his arrival; this was the first time in months had been dressed and in the fresh air. The location and building are great with beautiful views, there are regular activities but the main positive is the staff and their care, professionalism and warmth. My dad has struggled with adjusting to his stroke and a new way of life; the friendliness and the humour of the care staff have been a lifeline for both him and our family.
Our uncle was only at the home for a few days receiving palliative care. We cannot express our gratitude or put into words how fantastic the staff were with our uncle. The care and personal support he and we as a family received during this difficult time was exceptional. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I cannot speak more highly of the home and the staff. My mother's room was bright and airy with lovely big windows, it was warm and homely and kept spotlessly clean. The communal facilities were excellent, with lovely furnishings, fresh flowers, and beautiful views across the open countryside. What really sets Highwell apart however is the amazing staff, nothing was too much trouble, the care they gave to my mother was exemplary and we (the family) were always warmly welcomed and looked after when visiting. There is clearly a culture of genuine care and compassion for the residents. Thank you Highwell House.
We recently attended a quiz night at Highwell and were very impressed by the place itself, the atmosphere and the staff. We sat in a modern and comfortable dining area with a mixture of residents and non-residents. It was so nice to see the staff interacting with the residents, having a joke with them and treating them as equals. The buffet was delicious and was provided by the cook who was obviously well thought of. All monies raised were to go towards activities for the residents and we were introduced to a new member of staff who would be organising those activities for them. It was a lovely evening, well-done everyone.
My mother moved to Highwell House when she was very unwell as a result of an injury. The professional, competent, kind and sympathetic care that my mother has received there has enabled her to regain her health and happiness, my mother loves living there. Relatives are able to visit at any time of day and we always feel welcome. The home manager and deputy manager are proactive and accurately assess needs and plan appropriate care. All the staff are fantastic and warm and friendly. Mum has settled in very quickly and enjoys chatting with everyone and is completely at home. The management team have been exceptional in looking after Mum and communicating with us. We could not have found a more caring and well-organised nursing home.
It’s the little things that matter. What a wrench leaving your marital home after a long happy marriage. Highwell House did an incredible job to make my father’s transition a happy one. The amazing chef and her team ensured he’d have the specific breakfast he’d always eaten. It’s also the fresh flowers on the tables, the smiling greetings as staff pass by, the extra mile nurses and carers go to care for and befriend residents. It’s also night staff who carefully and quietly monitor all is well, the pride the cleaning staff take to refresh rooms, the gardener’s hard work to create well cared for outdoor spaces to enjoy. All these things added together with strong approachable leadership from the manger and deputy manager make Highwell House deserving of its outstanding status .
My step-father has been here just over twelve months and has had excellent care. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and attentive to my step-father's needs.
