View Full Details of Ledbury Nursing HomeMum and Nanny too is very happy and comfortable, she loves it all, especially the staff. They are all so kind, and caring and treat her like the person she is. Not a patient.
Overall the home gives my mother a good service. However, there have been some issues that have lowered my marks. Lift faulty and not repaired within a reasonable time. Not enough staff, meaning they are rushed off their feet. No communication when there are issues that affect the residents i.e. No kitchen staff more than once. My mum really likes living here and gets on well with all the staff, just a few minor things to sort out to make it 100%.
Ledbury Nursing Home and in particular the manager were excellent in arranging next day respite care for my father who we could no longer care for at home due to his end-of-life needs. As soon as I rang to make the enquiry he swiftly responded to my request, ringing me back to confirm a room would be available the next day and making all the necessary arrangements. The staff at the home and in particular the head nurse were very helpful, kind and caring the next day when my father was transferred to the room. I believe my father would have received excellent care in the home if there had been a chance for the staff to provide it. I could not fault the manager and the staff we came into contact with and want to thank them for making it as smooth as possible during a very difficult time. The finance team at Shaw Healthcare have also been very helpful during this period.
My father was taken into the home 4 weeks ago and has settled very well and quickly. The manager has been very approachable to discuss things and ask questions where we felt a little in the dark about the situation. He always gives me the time and support I need at what has been a very emotional time. The staff are all lovely and asked what sorts of things my father likes and any interests etc. So that they could interact with him as a companion not just a nurse or carer. The home has always been clean and the meal menu varied.
My mother was in the Ledbury Nursing Home for a month from 22nd December following discharge from the hospital after fracturing a vertebra. The home is small and personal, with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The staff are wonderful, and my mother had nothing but praise (every day) for their care, kindness and professionalism. The food is very good - home cooking, well presented and served with great consideration. Ledbury is very lucky to have such a special place.
My 96-year old mother was a resident at Ledbury Nursing Home from September 2021 until late February 2022. She had always dreaded losing her independence, but the kindness of the manager and staff at the nursing home enabled her to accept this huge change in her life, and she settled in quickly. Mum had nothing but praise for the wonderful nursing staff who did all they could to keep her comfortable as her health deteriorated further. My sister and I were touched by how caring and compassionate all the staff were, not only to Mum but also to us. We were able to be with Mum every day during her final week, and her passing was dignified, calm and pain-free. We will always be grateful to the manager and all the staff at Ledbury Nursing Home for their kindness and support.
Ledbury Nursing Home has a lovely atmosphere; warm, friendly and professional. My mother's partner has recently become a resident there and so is settling in in these challenging times. The caring nature of the home really shines through. With the spacious lounges and dining areas for social gatherings there are ideal places for residents to spend time. I worked as an activity co-ordinator for several years at the home years ago! Some of the staff are still there and now there are two activity coordinators. I can't imagine a better nursing home to be in. Being placed in Ledbury near cafes, the theatre and in Ledbury community in general is also a plus. I can't recommend it highly enough
Our mum is very happy at Ledbury Nursing Home. When we visit or telephone she tells us how lovely everyone is. The introduction of the Skype calls was a godsend during lockdown, thank you, and their continuation is very helpful. My sisters and I have seen an improvement in Mum's health and well being since arriving in 2020. We would like to that all of the staff for taking so much care of our lovely mum. Thank you.
My mum was a resident at this wonderful establishment from November until today when sadly she passed away. Please don't think badly of me for writing this review within such a short period of time since mum passed, but I just had to share my feelings concerning the level of care and tenderness that the guys and girls in the nursing home have shown to firstly my mum, and to myself and my wife. They could not have done anything more. They are so compassionate. So very thoughtful and understanding. They made mum's end of life care a very comforting experience. These people are a credit to the nursing profession. I cannot thank them enough for their support throughout.
My father has been a resident here for several years now and I cannot recommend the staff and facility highly enough. The staff are extremely professional yet highly caring and have gone out of their way in these exceptional times to look after their residents' mental and physical wellbeing. I live a long way from my father but rest easy that he is being well cared for and is happy in his surroundings.
I cannot fault the staff and Carers, they are always efficient, dedicated, caring and cheerful in spite of any difficulties that they are having to deal with. I appreciate the speediness of a doctor’s visit, should it be required. The well thought out meals are varied and plentiful. My only concern is that Management do not always act on the problems that the staff and Carers have to deal with.
My mum was with the Nursing Home for 3 months, at first we had a few teething problems, but once the staff knew what we were expecting for my mum she was very well looked after, the staff were always very welcoming and always offered my family a drink on arrival at the home. Times were hard with the lockdown but the staff would skype us on a regular basis so we could have a chat with mum. When mum was deemed end of life I couldn't have wished for her to be in a better place, the staff were very caring and the Nurses kept us informed all of the way, we were allowed to be with Mum in her final hours. Thank you Ledbury Nursing home.
I am pleased how the care has improved for my mum over the last two years. Initially, she became very frail and unable to even walk to the toilet without prompting and a helping hand. The deputy manager, oversaw Mum's care and put a care plan in place. The improvement was remarkable and Mum is talking, walking better and enjoying her time at the home. Since the lockdown, we have all been self-isolating and so we have been cut off from visiting so it has been hard on everyone, especially Mum who is devoid of visitors. I would like to congratulate one of the nurses, for her initiative in starting up a weekly contact via WhatsApp. This was completely off her own back and using her own mobile phone. Now, the family are able to stay in touch, it's marvellous. Friendly staff, good food and well looked after - what more could anyone wish for?
We visit our nan at Ledbury Nursing Home and the staff are always lovely and very helpful. I cut Nans hair on some of my visits and they are very obliging when I need help to move her, she always says how complimentary the all are to her and that she is always having a giggle with them so it’s great to know she’s happy! They often do activities together which is also really good knowing that she occupied. One of the carers, has been amazing during lockdown too as she’s made it possible for us to see our nan using FaceTime on her phone! It’s so great to see Nan is doing well but also for her to see us and have a good chat and catch up. Makes things a little more ‘normal’, a massive thank you for that!
I couldn't think of anywhere better for my dad to live. The staff that I have met are great and couldn't ask for better. It's a shame I can't get to see him more often as I live so far away but carers have been willing to bring him half-way. I always feel very welcome when I have visited.
I came to Ledbury Nursing Home just before Christmas 2018 - I was in a bad way - ill for 2 1/2 years. The staff and nursing home was like home and from my entry to my leaving on March 7th 2019 I have progressed through my illness. The atmosphere, staff and nurses are excellent and I really have to thank everyone for giving me back my life!
Excellent staff, caring and dedicated. However, my main criticism is that on too many occasions the facility was understaffed. There is a shortage of regular employees and as a consequence a heavy dependency on agency staff that sometimes were unfamiliar with routines and patients needs. There were incidences when agency staff failed to turn up placing totally unrealistic and grossly unfair demands on the staff that were present. On too many occasions shifts were manned by two staff when the recommended number was 4. That the basic premium wage is deemed an adequate reward for such an emotionally and physically demanding role is an outrage.
Mum was transferred to Ledbury from Hereford for palliative care. I cannot thank the staff enough for the outstanding care they have given her and for making her last few days easier. The night staff have taken the time to get to know her as a person rather than just a patient and this was very comforting to know. The building and facilities, as well as the catering, are excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone.
Since coming to Ledbury, I have on the whole, been very satisfied with the service given and my relationship with the staff. There are a few things I would change, such as more varied meals, but the kitchen staff do a good job catering to many people. Although I have not included any "Excellent" ratings, I feel fortunate at having such good treatment at my age (91 in December).
My brother has been a resident for nearly six months and previously had experience of several residential homes and respite care units. He rates this nursing home as good especially the care provided by the staff.
