View Full Details of Stretton Nursing HomeMy dad was here from 2021 until last week when he sadly passed away. The staff have been very caring the whole time he has been there and have been amazing since he passed. Wil miss going there to visit him and see the staff, and the lovely grounds
Although the building and rooms are rather tired and in need of an upgrade the staff and ambience do currently make up for this. They are all caring and friendly and develop a personal rapport with residents. Particularly outstanding is the current manager who goes out of her way to treat residents with dignity and respect. Security is excellent and great extra events, facilities i.e. hairdressers etc provided.
Mum arrived and was welcomed. The staff very friendly, comfortable room and very accommodating to Mum's needs.
My mother's stay at Stretton Nursing Home was excellent. The staff were very attentive and caring. As soon as we asked for anything to be done they were there to cater for my mother's needs straight away and with a smile. Even being asked to get her ready for a trip out at short notice, two carers would come very quickly. Thanks to everyone.
My stay has been beyond both a pleasure and a privilege. The staff from top to bottom have been most kind and attentive, quickly coupling my son (here on permanent stay) with my many visits to him, an ideal situation, understood and encouraged by all. I shall miss the friendly daily routine but all is not lost, my regular visits to my son will keep me in touch with your fine band of people. God Bless all.
My father moved into Stretton Nursing Home on the 14th December 2023 after I visited lots of different homes in Hereford. This was the first home that I felt he would be looked after in. The manager is always available to email/talk to and she responds very quickly to any queries that I have. Dad's room was newly decorated with new furniture, curtains etc. and is bright, airy with a beautiful view of the countryside. He loves the food and he, I feel, has now started to settle. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and all so caring. My mum visits daily and they are all so lovely to her as well. It has been a huge weight off my mind knowing that he is in a safe, clean and caring home. The whole process of putting him in a home has been mentally draining, but now he is at Stretton I can relax knowing that he is being well cared for.
Mum arrived at Stretton in November following a lengthy stay in hospital. I was heartbroken at the time, as I always promised Mum that she would never be placed in a care home. Due to mixed dementia and very poor mobility, I knew that this was the only loving and caring thing I could agree to do. Whilst in hospital, Mum was extremely unsettled, constantly thinking she was being locked away and was very distressed, which in turn made me distressed and very upset. After a few days of being at Stretton, Mum settled in very well. Due to me living away, the relief has been immense. I speak to Mum every day and she always says she is ok, warm, and comfy. Gone is the extreme distress and anxiety. On each occasion I have visited, the staff have been very welcoming and friendly. The food is ample and the menu seems to be varied. The home is clean and tidy and Mum's room is lovely. Nothing is more important than having your loved one cared for and the comfort that brings is priceless.
The home was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. It has nice country surroundings, residents seemed happy there. The person in charge was always available to speak to when we needed to.
My husband came into the nursing home in June 2023. It was a very difficult time in our life. I could no longer cope at home - mobility problems. It was a sudden decision to come in. Staff very helpful, and he seemed to settle ok. We were very emotional, and all staff were supportive. There have been communication difficulties, but these are getting better as time goes by. The food is excellent, and my husband enjoys all the meals.
I believe my mom is well looked after. She is almost four weeks now in Stretton Nursing Home. The room is nice and clean. Food made for her nice and warm. I was asked a lot of questions about Mom and her interests and favourite foods.
From the moment Mum arrived at Stretton Nursing Home, she felt safe and received a high standard of care, compassion and understanding from her nurses, carers, office team and also the lovely staff who provided her refreshments. Her homely room was always kept clean and tidy and activities for the residents were thoughtfully structured to individual needs. My family and I will always be very grateful for the care Mum received at Stretton and for the compassion shown to me and my family by all the staff and the manager when she sadly passed away.
I enjoy staying here as the staff are really kind and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. I feel safe and secure here at Stretton. The food is also excellent and I look forward to meal times! I couldn't ask for more, all the staff are caring and I'm happy here.
I am so pleased with the service that is provided here. My friend has always been concerned about living in a care home but he absolutely loves it. All the staff, from management, carers and domestic staff are very respectful. I have peace of mind knowing my friend is happy here!
Adequate home and lovely grounds with a team led by a progressive, forward-thinking manager. The food is excellent and the activities are planned with a lot of thought and effort. Overall, my experience of my Mum's care at Stretton Nursing Home is very good.
The nursing home is very friendly and welcoming to relatives and patients. The home is clean and nicely decorated making it feel homely. The food is freshly cooked daily and a lovely selection is nutritious. The staff are very helpful and answer any questions we may have. Medical needs are catered for daily and checked upon to see if any need changing. Activities for patients are provided to encourage socialising which is good for well-being.
My Mother was transferred to Stretton from Hereford Hospital in May this year. This was all quite unexpected but I was invited by the manager to visit before she was admitted and my mind was put at rest immediately. A lovely friendly space, light and clean. I was able to choose the perfect room for Mum so she could see the sky and trees. We could not have found a more perfect place for the last few weeks of her life. She was beautifully cared for by all the staff at Stretton. I'm a nurse and carer myself, and I could not have been happier with the care she received. Her appetite was not good and she was unable to eat the food that was on regular offer. Once this was noted the catering staff made every effort to provide food that she found more palatable. We were also able to visit whenever we liked and also to take our little dog, who she loved and cheered her up every day. We are just so grateful for all that was done for her at Stretton, it met her needs 100%.
My mother was very frail when she moved here and quickly became bedbound. She often told me how good the food was and how kind the staff were. I found the staff unfailingly polite, courteous and very caring to/about my mother. She recently developed breathing difficulties (heart failure) and died in the home 30 hours later. My siblings and I were with her throughout, and the kindness and compassion shown to us at all times by staff at all levels was outstanding.
I was very apprehensive about putting my mum in a home but was put at ease straight away by the manager. The staff are brilliant and very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Mum always looks clean and in clean clothes; every day can have a drink whenever she wants. It was Mum's 93rd birthday at the weekend, and the staff pulled out all the stops to make it special; they decorated the room and made her a beautiful cake and looked after us all. I am just so pleased my mum now has 24-hour care, and it’s all thanks to the staff at Stretton - well done.
Recently visited a friend here and was disgusted to see how shabby the place is. Staff were non-existent, asked how many staff were on duty at any one shift and told only four. Clients left in dirty pads, client not assisted out of bed to get mobile, one resident's alarm was left buzzing for the full hour of my visit and still buzzing for assistance when I left. Nothing is calming in this place, paintwork like a nursery school, orange, lime green gloss needing desperate renewing. The staff I did see were unkempt, rude, and abrupt to my friend. This place needs a complete overhaul. Please don't allow your loved ones to go here.
