View Full Details of Herons Park Nursing Home & Dementia UnitI was at the Herons Park Nursing Home for 2 weeks for respite care following a major kidney operation. Everyone was very kind, considerate and respectful during my stay and I was very well cared for in every sense. It made a huge difference to my recovery.
The care my father received at Herons was excellent. Dad was at Herons for nearly three years and was treated with care, kindness and understanding throughout. He found his declining abilities difficult to accept and this caused anxiety and frustration in him at times. Time was spent talking and listening to Dad and he was taken out on visits and shopping trips when he was able to do so. Staff really supported him in using the phone to call us and keep in touch. Friends and family were welcome to visit at any time and we received a cheerful welcome. There was always something going on, the staff got involved in things and created a genuinely happy atmosphere. The most positive thing was the way all the staff who work there really do care. Dad's end of life was care was superb. He was treated with dignity and died peacefully. We were also shown great kindness at this difficult time. Many thanks to everyone at Herons.
The care given to the resident is very good. The staff treat them with patience and dignity. They provide activities in which residents can participate (or not) as they wish. Family and friends of residents are encouraged to talk with the staff and any queries are dealt with sympathetically and appropriately. Herons Park is a very friendly place in which all can feel at 'home'.
I would like to extend an enormous thank you to you and your staff for the amazing care shown to our father. When my sisters initially viewed your care home, they knew immediately it was the right place for our father. The caring, loving atmosphere was very apparent. Your staff took great care of my father, affording home dignity and respect. Not only did you care for my father, but you also cared for our whole family with kind words and incredible hospitality. Please pass on our family's enormous gratitude to all your staff.
Following the death of my Mother, I would like to record my thanks and the gratitude of our family for the care that she received during the two-and-a-half years she was a resident at Herons Park. The standard of care provided has been of a high quality throughout her stay and, despite her deteriorating physical condition which made this a very difficult final period of her life, she was as happy as possible. She was certainly comfortable and felt secure. The high levels of cleanliness, the facilities available, and the quality of the food she received were important to us. Of even greater importance has been the quality of care provided by the team of staff. This has been excellent. Mum was treated with respect which enabled her to retain some dignity as her body failed her. Her care felt personal; it was attentive and thoughtful and such kindness from staff who are busy and are carrying out such a challenging role is what makes them special.
My mother spent only a few weeks here following her discharge from the Hospice and the care was exemplary. At such a difficult time, the staff were amazing and so kind and supportive to all the family but especially my dad. Her death, whilst tragic was handled delicately and with all the sensitivity you would need and again this is tantamount to the kindness and quality of all the staff working there. It's difficult when choosing a care home, for someone like myself who has a lot of experience of them in my job role (GP), I know a lot of places are struggling as a result of poor funding and the morale and ultimately, care, suffers as a result but from the moment my father I visited we knew this wasn't an issue here. I am incredibly grateful to the staff for all their hard work, care and support in giving my mother a dignified and respectful death. Thank you.
I would like to thank the staff for all their support, kindness and love they showed my mother when at Heron's Park. A big thank you to all the staff on the dementia unit. All the best for future care.
I recently spent two weeks for respite care at this wonderful care home and have to say what a pleasant experience it was. The care that I received was superb. The staff are all so helpful and really nice. I was treated with great respect and kindness throughout my stay. The food is really good, homemade and served beautifully. I cannot find fault in this care home and would highly recommend it.
Me father was transferred here from hospital for end of life care which was never going to be easy, but the wonderful staff here made his last few weeks the best they could be. Every time we visited here we were warmly welcomed, everyone had a smile and whenever we were here someone popped in at least once an hour to check all was well with him. Our experience of Herons Park could not have been better, the staff were 100% amazing, even down to the trainee students on placement. The environment was spotlessly clean, food was nice. Well done Herons Park Nursing Home.
My nan had been at the nursing home for nearly five years, in that time she moved from the nursing unit to the dementia unit, of which were both excellent. For me personally, my nan being as when she went in was a big thing for her. The staff have been amazing, from kitchen staff to cleaners, to nurses and maintenance staff! I highly recommend this nursing home!
Herons Park Nursing Home & Dementia Unit was somewhere my mum went for respite. From entering the home the staff were welcoming, friendly and the atmosphere lovely. The care my mum received was exemplary and nothing was too much trouble for staff in all departments. My mum whilst in Herons Park Nursing Home & Dementia Unitsaid that she was looked after beautifully and the meals were marvellous. Sadly, my mother passed away while there but the dignity and respect and loving care shown to my mum and ourselves as family was amazing in her final days, cannot fault the dedication and compassion all staff have shown.
My father only had a two-week stay at Herons Park after we discovered his cancer had spread and he was in need of end-of-life care. From the first moment I visited Herons Park, I was struck with how genuine, kind, caring and helpful all the staff were and what a lovely home it was. Even though this was an extremely sad time in my life, I enjoyed coming to spend time with dad as I knew he was in safe, caring hands with a lovely family who also welcomed me visiting at all times of the day and night. I know dad enjoyed his final days at Herons Park, laughing and chatting with the staff for whom nothing was too much trouble when it came to keeping him comfortable and pain-free. Sadly my father has now passed away, but I will always be eternally grateful to the fabulous staff who treated my father and all the family with such kindness, sensitivity and dignity.
We had a very positive experience with you and are so pleased with all the help, encouragement and information we received. This has enabled us to cope with my husband's death with a confidence we would not have had. Our heartfelt thanks and good wishes to all involved.
Lovely care home and the staff were always happy and helpful. When my mom was there, care was really good. When Mom was on end-of-life care, they looked after her and us, as a family, really well.
Excellent home. Carers who genuinely care. Good nursing staff, enthusiastic activity team and first-class management, who keep it a well-run home. Can't fault it.
My mom had recently received dementia and end of life care at Herons Park Nursing home. All the staff were professional, compassionate, respectful and just completely amazing in the care they had shown my mom and my family while visiting. Nothing was too much trouble. We were allowed to come and go any time we liked and my mom could not have received any better care. She was kept spotlessly clean and comfortable and you could clearly see all protocols were put in place to keep her feeling safe and at the end as comfortable as possible. End of life care was explained to us as each step was taken to keep mom out of pain and comfortable. Inside the home is spotless and Mom's room was a very good size and we could take in things from home to make it feel comfortable and familiar. Herons Park was a happy vibrant place to visit and it has made what was such a very difficult time more bearable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart you are all angels.
I immediately felt very well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very friendly and gave me the support I needed and the confidence to become more mobile in a safe environment.
I approached Herons Park on a recommendation from someone. It didn't fail to provide exactly what was needed. She was well looked after, with good attention to detail, good meals and nursing care. When the end came, the nursing care was exemplary, and I was kept in touch in the days leading up to it. Very impressed.
Staff friendly, pleasant always ready for help. Very compassionate and they treated my wife with dignity as she was dying.
Mum lived at Herons Park for 4 years, initially in the dementia unit and later in the nursing unit when her needs changed. Mum was a resident during lockdown and not being able to see her really worried me. I needn't have. Staff were fantastic and Mum was very well looked after. I never felt questions regarding Mum's health or care were not welcomed. The home had regular visits from the local doctor's surgery so there was no need to transport her for appointments. There was even eye care and podiatry available plus a hairdresser. When Mum was passing, the staff were so supportive and really looked after us.
