View Full Details of The Meadows Nursing HomeIt was my father's birthday on Sunday 21st January and the events organiser arranged a buffet and lovely birthday cake to celebrate the day. The Meadows Nursing Home were brilliant, organising a room, the staff were on hand to help with any issues and the family enjoyed a private gathering which my father thoroughly enjoyed. Dad really appreciated the birthday card he received from the staff and their lovely, kind words. Thanks for making a great and memorable day.
When our friend entered the nursing home she was confused, agitated and showing signs of malnutrition. Over the last few months, she has greatly improved both physically and mentally. This we attribute to the care and attention of the staff. They have gained her confidence and helped her to where she is today.
My brother was happy here until the massive change in staff. He was taken ill on the 16th of March and we asked every day for a doctor, it took until the 27th of April for one to visit and by then he had a massive kidney infection and was taken to the hospital. Sixteen days after admittance, he died. Not once did anyone from The Meadows Nursing Home contact us to check on his health, not once. Collecting his property, I am dismayed that they kept a cupboard full of food, drinks, chocolate, cheese, books, two walking aids and his slippers. The nurses are brilliant. One or two of the staff are too. The largest majority of kindness and consideration has left, pen-pushers and form-fillers remain. Sad and disappointed nobody has contacted me since his death either.
I had always feared my mother going into a residential care home as she was a very exacting and private person. However, when her Parkinson's disease and dementia finally demanded full-time support. My mother had the good fortune to take up residence in The Meadows Nursing Home. What amazed me was how quickly she settled into what became a new lease of life and she always said how much she liked her room and food and loved the staff. She became actively involved in the outings and activities and was always contented. I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for the exceptional love and support she received from every member of the staff. She was always treated with the greatest love, dignity and respect, even in her final days. I could not have asked for more for her.
My experience with the home has been very good. The management are very helpful and answer any questions I have and are happy for me to phone them if I need further details. The staff are really good with my dad and he gets on well with them. They will have a laugh and joke with him and he says he feels safe. He also loves the food. The staff I have spoken to are very helpful.
My dad receives excellent care at the Meadows Nursing Home. He is well cared for and is treated with respect. The meals provided are excellent and they have catered so well for my dad's routine, allowing him to walk to breakfast and still maintain control over his choices, maintaining safety and mental well-being. Communication is great and they are always happy to oblige making it easy for us to collect and return him after a day out. They are also happy to arrange transport for him when attending medical appointments. He feels safe and cared for. The management of the home is excellent and the staff appear happy and helpful. Maybe needs more funding to improve facilities
My 93 year old Mother was discharged from Hospital, following Pneumonia, to an assessment bed for four weeks. Mum has Alzheimer’s/Vascular Dementia and has no insight into her illness or as to where she is. As a family, we were very concerned as to how she would adjust to a Nursing Home environment. Our major concerns have been unfounded. The Meadows has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are tactful, very kind and supportive who respect dignity and privacy. Mum responds to staff with a huge warm smile and will hold out her hands to them - a reaction that speaks volumes! Any concerns are listened to and dealt with. Mum’s room is large, bright and comfortable and the homemade food is excellent. Mum arrived underweight, unable to weight bear and walk, she now has gained weight and can stand and walk unaided. She appears very settled and as happy as she can be. We are delighted she is now a full-time resident and that we have peace of mind, regarding her care.
An amazing home. Since my dad came in, he has been getting better and better and more sociable. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
I have always been really happy with Mom's care. She is treated well and is mostly happy.
My father was accepted into The Meadows in April 2019 after a very difficult dementia journey. We had visited several places after he had permanently been sectioned under the mental health act. The Meadows was the only place we visited which ticked all of my dad's care needs. After diagnosed with "challenging behaviour" within a few weeks, he has really calmed for without the intervention of drugs. They treat him with dignity, as an individual, like the family would.
My grandad is here, and they treated him very kindly. He has dementia, and without them, his life would be difficult. They genuinely care.
It is hard to recommend a nursing home because everyone is different and has different needs. The Meadows is perfect for my mother. The staff understand her and treat her with great kindness and are very caring. The manager is approachable and efficient.
In May 2020, my mom was given notice from the care home she was in as they had decided they could not cope with her needs! She had only been there for eight weeks at the start of the Covid lockdown! In that time she was there, her care was none existent, she went in size 16, singing-dancing and happy, and came out well, I can only describe it as unrecognisable. Her teeth had been lost, and she was barely a size 8! She could not even sit up; we all thought this was the end for her, even the ambulance crew were concerned about her health. Thank God for The Meadows! The staff there are so kind and caring, none of us thought she would ever pick back up, but after all there help and perseverance, just months later, she is back to eating, drinking, and walking around unaided. She is very happy, and all her needs are met. I just do not know how to show my gratitude; we will be in debt to them forever! I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful, caring home to anyone. fore ever grateful.
Every single member of this team of carers and staff are the kindest, most caring people you could ever wish to meet. They never leave me in any doubt as to how much their kindness is genuine. It's clear to see how much they understand the residents and cater to their needs. Sometimes above and beyond, in my opinion. The food here is exceptional; my dad is always tempted by what's on offer. I never worry about how much care my dad gets; I know he is very well looked after.
My dad has been at The Meadows for three weeks now. He never wanted to come into a nursing home, but he has been treated and care for in the most dignified, respectful and loving manner. All the staff are so caring and helpful and go beyond and above, nothing too much trouble. Especially the manager; she's so approachable, nothing is too much trouble, under these difficult times.
My mother has been a resident at The Meadows for over a year. Throughout that time, I have always been impressed with the level of care that she has received. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, and have always made sure that I am kept up to date with my mother's situation. It was a difficult decision to place my mother in care, but the staff have always shown that she is in good, caring hands and is very carefully looked after.
The family have been totally amazed with the care our father has received in all aspects of his care. The staff are amazing. The home is well run.
My brother has been a resident of The Meadows Nursing Home since May of this year. I can only say that all of the staff have been amazing to my brother and my family when we visit. You can always discuss any concerns you may have with the manager or any of the available nurses. The staff are always helpful and friendly with visitors and each other which creates a happy atmosphere. And projects, entertainments and outings are first class.
I felt my husband was well looked after. The Staff all cared! All Staff knew him well and by name. Most important...his Parkinson's meds seemed to be given on time. Food is excellent! He really enjoyed it all! Thank you to all Staff!
From meeting with the manager, my experience has been very positive and very efficient. Staff very caring, helpful and friendly. Manager very caring, extremely hard working and passionate.
